The Swag (Urban Fashion)

and just to clearify, people have to buy clothes. its not like my wardrobe is overflowing with shit, forgive me if i buy a pair of shoes and some shirts once in a while. id rather buy one nice item versus getting 2 shitty ones for the same price, feel me.
matters what it is…IMHO. I try getting middle of the line stuff for as low as i can as far as shirts and alot of times shoes. jeans and coats and what not i try to get as high quality stuff as i can…

hey homie it is what it is. it could be worse you know. shit works itself out. i mean i aint gettin into all the financial shit on here cause it doesnt need to be discussed with you. just get off my nuts.

In your short life, it does seem like “shit works itself out”. Typically someone else, usually a grown up, took care of it. As time goes by, and you become liable for your own well being, you’ll find “shit catches up with you”.

As far as the heat or clothes dilemma, having heat is bare necessity, having a new pair of sideways venetian blind sunglasses or japanese jeans is not.

All style, no substance.
Exactly. It’s not about the quality of the things you’re bying, it’s that they are useless. At this point, you have no business buying clothes that you can’t wear to a job interview (for a job that isn’t minimum wage).

It doesn’t need to be discussed here? You’re talking about how there isn’t a cultural problem of rampant consumerism emerging in hip-hop, and it turns out you’re the poster boy for the problem.

Get your shit together, get your mom some fucking heat, and get yourself a well-paying career. Invest wisely, make a ton of money, and someday, when you don’t have to choose between fashion and basic necessities, go ahead and buy all the ugly clothes you want.

Of course, by then, you may want to buy things that actually look good, and will signal high social status (as opposed to the broke-ass-but-I-spent-my-last-$50-on-new-pants look.

Sorry if you find this offensive, but it’s the truth. If you can get over your fragile ego for a minute, and listen to what I’m saying, you’ll be a happier, more successful person for it.

Jadakiss on your top 5??? he is the fattest ugliest rapper ever and he looks like a turtle. He cant rhyme or nothin and for fuckin sure he was never able to make a hit song. I dont even know why Cash Money Records is tryin to sign him
#1. I hope your a female cuz otherwise what a rapper looks like doesnt mean shit.

#2. He can ryhme else he wouldnt have been on anyone elses shit. lil wayne would not have taken one of his lines to make a hit song (pop bottles).

#3. Hope your a female…

Anyway, what do you guys think absolutely, hands down are the best jeans??
Seven for all mankind and citizens of humanity. Easily the best jeans out there.

Im suprised no one has mentioned fabolous in all this rapper talk.

So people like Jada Kiss are above Talib Kweli and Immortal Technique?

Watch this:

Then this:

If you guys are throwin out names like Kanye, Jay-Z and Jada Kiss…you don’t know lyricists.

What is so good about those jeans, gsxtacy? Anything in particular? How much do they run? My friend buys Paper Denim (?). No clue what ‘premium denim’ is and why it’s worth so much more. It all wears out to me just the same, but maybe that’s me…

Yeahhh Seven jeans are cleannn i forgot all about those

Fabolous was cool with his first 2 albums… but he sounds the same in his songs (with his voice and his flow) and his lyrics got kinda borin…and some of his lines i dont even know wtf hes talkin bout

i know lyricism, i know a witty line when i hear it. but i dont want to hear about holocaust conspiracys and shit bro. this is about swagger, not back packing.

Since it’s the second time it’s been mentioned, wtf is a “wigger”?

White guy trying to be black. Cultural appropriation if you will.

wouldn’t that be “wlack”?

Oh, I see…

So if a white guy who is trying to be “black” is a wigger, then a black guy who is black is a…

Here’s some free advice. Using racial slurs indirectly is pretty close to using them directly.

When you say “trying to be Black”, you are defining what “being black” means, and the definition is pretty offensive.

If it’s not your intent to offend, think about what you’re saying next time.

I think it should only be offensive to the person it is directed at. It is supposed to be offensive.

I think you are over-thinking. If a black guy says it to a white guy - then there’s the same problem as if a white guy says nigger to a black guy. Blacks can use nigger to describe other blacks all day long - and no one gives it a second thought.

Give us the same consideration. It is no reflection on the black community.

The only people who I’ve met that get offended are white guys.
rainjack wrote:

I don’t think it is. In my experience, white kids trying to emulate what they see in rap videos are flattered when they are called “wiggers”. It is offensive, but not to those whom it is meant to offend. That makes it pretty useless, in my view.

I don’t think I’m overthinking it. I think I’m articulating my reaction to the word. If you want to hear a more detailed account of my thoughts, pm me, and I’ll let you know. If you aren’t interested, that’s fine, too.

It could be that this crowd has not learned about “deferred gratification”. On the off chance that one of them wants to learn the secret of turning $1,000 into a Ferrari (with little effort), I came a across a simple, but well written article on the basic how-to.

im pretty sure i didnt say lyricist, i said rapper… i honestly dont care if someone can use metaphysics and talk about the evolution of man in the same sentence, if they cant flow on beat and properly nor if the beat sounds like something made on fruity loops

jadakiss, kanye west, jay-z hell even lil wayne > immortal techique

i like all the above artists but immortal technique cant stay on beat…mos def did drop classic verses on black on both sides and black star…his last two albums are shit…simple as that

In my experience, white kids trying to act all “gangsta” get offended by something as simple as asking if they have the time. I mean, you aren’t “hard” if you don’t act like a complete asshole and justify it by saying you were “disrespected” when you clearly weren’t.

You disrespecting me boy? I challenge you to a duel!
