We’ll only know when the vote is called. The rumblings from Trump country Dems was ‘yes’ but this could give them an out. Republican rebellion is also unknown. Flake could vote no, as could Heller etc.
That’s my best guess. McConnell probably is scrambling every whip he has got right now.
I think you have to clarify what it is that he denied. He didn’t, for instance, say:
–That he never knew her.
–That they were never at a party together.
–that they were never in a room together with Mark Judge.
–That he never tried to kiss her.
etc. A categorical denial that he never did what she is accusing him of is actually rather slippery because it leaves a lot of room to say that he did some other things that aren’t what she said he did.
A lawyer I used to work with that I still talk to semi regularly said how impressed he is with Kav’s verbiage. Apparently that’s a thing with law people.
Anyone thinking Kav will get got by all these shenanigans is kidding themselves. Agree with his views or not, you don’t get to be a goddamn SCOTUS nom without being really good at this shit.
Plus at the end of the day no proof can exist so it’s always going to be a he said she said.
I’m hearing from similar types of folks that kav may have screwed up with his denial of doing “anything like what she is claiming”.

Besides spending that summer wearing a body cam, what else can he do? He has no hard date or location to work with. He can at least show that he spent part of that summer away. And, when there, seemed to have recorded the dates of parties. Why not offer them up?

Just seems like he’s good enough to know those calendars do nothing but remind everyone there’s no proof of the party. Which is all politics.
How do they harm him? If they don’t, offer them up. Then, you add that everyone named as potentially corroborating witnesses by Ford, has now denied any knowledge of the party. Including Ford’s .female friend.
Seems to me you want to do exactly that if you’ve been accused of attempted rape at a party.
It would come down to the perspective of the “jury”, in this case senators. And I would assume most senators wouldn’t share his “perspective”.

I think Kavanaugh should just apologize for his actions, even if he’d never even met his accuser. A woman accusing a man of something should be believed and respected. Maybe he didn’t do exactly what this saintly woman is accusing him of doing, but I have little doubt that he was born with a penis while she was not.
She’s claiming attempted rape. What is like attempted rape? It’s fairly easy to argue that basically nothing is like attempted rape other than attempted rape and rape. And as this is political theater, it’s politically perilous to argue otherwise.
