If we want good candidates we have to draw a line a what point we are going to harass human beings.
Otherwise we’re going to get the ones willing to weather the storm and those usually are the honest ones.
Who wants to be president? Now who wants to run for president? I’d pick the former, not the latter.
They’ll force it. The GOP have, more or less, abandoned the house. They won’t let a vacant SCJ nomination last that could imperil the GOP senate.

Agreed. While the realist in me understands the long game the Dems are playing, the idealist hates them just as much as when the GOP did it. You won’t see any tears from me if this blows up in their faces somehow.

People underestimate the level to which this is true.
We elected an asshole. Not just a normal asshole. A professional asshole. A guy who publicly spent his life being an asshole. A guy who prides himself on being an asshole. A guy who gave himself his own reality TV show so he could make money showing the country how he treats people like shit.
Imo, it’s the ultimate reflection of those that voted for him. Not that they themselves are assholes, but that they genuinely don’t care about the character of the person in the oval.
Man, if that’s all you got from that series I feel bad for you.
If you didn’t experience the joy of watching people run themselves and everybody else into the ground while basking in the glory of armchair quarterbacking under the premise that you could do “it” better, then you completely missed the point of the show.
That show was a spectacular exercise in self delusion on a grand scale.

I think you are making a good point, but you’re missing the fact that a lot of regular people think that the country was already run by assholes. They just wanted someone to admit it.

I’m guessing here, but it seems like there might be a couple midterms that are very close, and they’d expect this to push it over the edge if forced.
Can’t think of another reason not to force it when you have the majority EVERYWHERE.
