Youre lying to yourself if you think that’s true. Trump came up with a ‘millions of illegals’ stance and even started a congressional investigation because his ego couldn’t handle the pop vote
He was absolutey going for the popular vote, he just got shit on
Did he want it? Of course. Did he specifically campaign for it? You would have to show me something to say he did. I feel like he would’ve hit California a little harder if that was the case.
Indeed, because the destruction of Israel and the casting of (most) Jews into Hell are central components of the eschatology of the sort of Christian who is ascendant in the GOP these days.
If defending Israel in order to facilitate its destruction counts as support, then I suppose you’re correct.
Is that sarcasm Dr. EyeDentist? By the way get outta here with your fancy GRE vocab words this a forum for meatheads.
I don’t think Angelical Christians, who are the biggest supporters of Israel in America, want to see its destruction. Maybe I am wrong though. But I am fairly certain they would much rather the “Promised Land” remain in the hand of die schmutzigen Juden than the Muslims.
Zecarlo said: “Given that antisemitism is present in global conspiracy theories, and who is more likely to believe them, it definitely is not a Democrat problem.”
To which pat responded with “Who hates Israel more, democrats or republicans?”
Whats this nonsense of sympathizing with “Palestinians” without hating Israel have to do with anything.
I’m afraid not. Google ‘end times destruction of Israel.’ And it’s not a fringe, loony-tune position; it’s held by very prominent individuals at the heart of GOP politics. For example, I once saw a video clip of Mike Huckabee on a visit to Israel with a tour group. The interviewer asked him about his (Huckabee’s) belief that Israel must be destroyed for Christian prophecy to be fulfilled. Huckabee smiled awkwardly and said, in effect, that it would be impolite to discuss that topic in the presence of his Israeli hosts. (Haven’t been able to locate it on YT yet.)
You mean ‘evangelical’? (Seeking clarification, not being a pedant.) And yes, they do want to see it in the sense they believe it must happen as part of Christ’s Second Coming. People of this persuasion comment often about how going’s on in the Middle East herald the imminent arrival of the ‘end times.’
Suggest you educate yourself about (pre-)millenarianism/eschatology before commenting further.
I sympathize most peaceful, “I just want to live my life.” Palestinians.
I do not support the sadly large faction who demand that for there to be peace Israel must be destroyed and Jews killed.
Again, the long standing charter, since the UN created the states, requirement for Palestine to have a home that isn’t a shit hole, is to renounce violence and recognize Israel’s right to exist. That’s it. That’s all they have to do.
Many apparently love their hate more than their kids. There are hundreds of examples of this where they put, and fire missiles from schools, play grounds, hospitals, etc. Not to mention sending poor little Abu with a suicide vest on in to a crowd.
I am not here to take suggestions from you. You’re treacherously close to Zep territory with that tripe. I am not saying fringe nut jobs don’t exist, but they are exactly that, fringe.
Do you really believe you would campaign the same way for the popular vote as you would for the EC? If that’s the case, we can just agree to disagree because that is silly. See below.
See, you’re not making sense here. You ask why would he campaign in a state with the highest population if he is going for the popular vote??? That one answers itself.
Now on the other side, why would he campaign in California if he’s trying to win the EC? Like you said yourself, it would be an uphill battle so it would be a waste of time. See the connection here?
But hey, maybe Hillary thinks like you so that’s why she ignored Wisconsin and Michigan. At least she won California by 4 million!
Probably not, but it doesn’t change the popular vote being one of the most important election metrics.
No, I ask why he would campaign in a state that would require considerably more time and money per capita, due to starting behind the 8 ball with most of the voters.
I also don’t believe Dems would spend a ton of time in the deep South if the voting structure was changed.
Literally my whole point. If you’re not campaigning to win the popular vote, who gives a shit if you win it? That’s like saying, ya, your team may have had more points but my team had more assists. Cool. No one is going for most assists.
Because if you’re going for the popular, you spend more time in California than you would in North Dakota. Everything changes with the popular vote.
I honestly thought it was well known that she didn’t exactly spend much time in these states…
My only argument has been the campaigning would go differently if pop vote was the focus. I just get tired of seeing the “but she won the popular vote,” argument. In the words of The Rock, It doesn’t matter!
You and I have been down the pop vote debate several times now, ha. We won’t see eye to eye on it. But you know what, that’s just fine. America!
