But Trump made a “safe/sure/easy” choice in both Gorsuch and Kavanaugh…

Energize Republicans and rally them around someone besides Trump. Reminding republicans who don’t like Trump just how important the Senate and judicial picks are. Something to still get out the vote for!

It doesn’t seem like Heitkamp would vote for Kavanaugh, as she seems certain to lose. Like a last stand mentality.
The one-and-only reason Trump picked Kavanaugh is because of his views on investigating, and indicting, a sitting president. That’s it. It’s delusional to think he was trying to “play nice”.

No less so than anyone else on the Federalist Society’s list probably. But his temperament alone should preclude him from the seat (regardless of the allegations against him).

He also wasn’t sitting as judge. Is there any sign of lack of temperament in any of he’s decades of judging? No.
If he isn’t lying he had every right to be angry. And we all know if he’d been calm Dems would say it’s because he’s too cold and heartless, therefore guilty.
