What’s wrong with that? Five generations ago, some white people had slaves whose ancestors were sold by African slave holders to American/European slave holders. Just think about how much worse off those girls are than they would have been if their ancestors had been left in Africa.

I would ask that teacher, what flag did the North fly in the Civil War? What flag did the US fly when it was fighting the Nazis?
Then prepare for the answer which will start with “but” because they don’t want to admit the US, for all its faults past and present, is still where people come to escape the very things the US flag supposedly stands for. The fact they have the ability and right to make that claim without fear contradicts the claim.

This is technically true because the number of stars changed. But it feels nitpicky since most would agree that fundamentally those are the same flags that represent the same values.
It wouldn’t matter because at heart, it’s still the flag of the USA.
