I don’t understand how a rational person can seriously believe that a full 50% of the US has the values of DJT.
I refer them to Jonathan Pie’s earlier take on the election, posted by loppar.

thing is, here in WA and OR we almost definitely have the largest divide between the right and left of any states in the union. Everyone wants to think that we are Seattle, PDX and Eugene and that is representative of everyone here. As soon as you get outside the suburbs it gets REAL rednecky whiskey tango REAL quick. And the once you get out into the country east of the cascade crest (of which there is a MASSIVE amount) you get the northern idaho libertarian white nationalist types (remember the bundys standoff with the feds a few years back, etc). FFS, the ONLY experience the republican nominee for governer here in WA literally had was being the ex-police chief of a town of 1000 people who rose to “fame” defying a state gun law a couple years ago and campaigning on a VERY trumpian platform. THAT is the republican party we see being supported he is even following in turmps footsteps not accepting the vote despite losing by nearly 20% of the vote. Those are the type of candidates that republicans are nominating in the primaries, so those must be their values.
On the flipside, the republicans on the eastern side of the crest think that all the liberals living in and around SEA/PDX/EUG are supporting antifa, rioters and uber progressive policies (which btw, are ONLY being implemented within PDX/SEA city limits).
So, basically, i just roll with my favorite Carlin quote and try to stay in my lane:
So 25% of the GOP actually has trumps values, and 25% of the democrats believe all GOP has trumps values. Thats the 50% carlin was talking about. Math checks out.
True. As someone opposed to his election I will credit Biden if he deals with this now that he’s President (almost certainly).
Was thinking almost the same thing. There’s also now no real common, tangible enemy to serve as a grave existential threat. Not sure if they’re going to double down on the police and stuff or find something absolutely ludicrous to rally against.
Well, that sure is a completely depressing situation . Damn.
Fuck, you weren’t kidding. I wasn’t expecting this to also happen to my wife. Now she’s going nuts about India. I told her I’m going to get a fucking bigass picture of Trump and hang it on the wall so she can yell at it all day.
EDIT:
Fuck now they have some beef with Australia? This shit won’t end.
Surely a contradiction wouldn’t stop a doctrinaire Marxist? If contradictions caused a pause we could have dispensed with quite a lot of the misery of the latter half of the 20th century.
Would they ever just heave off?
Anywho, I’ll leave this here for Remembrance Day to cleanse the street rabble from the thoughts:
Got to love the great combination of hypocrisy and stupidity
Portland city commissioner who wants to defund the police called 911 on Lyft driver
She is currently pushing for an $18 million cut to Portland police
*Portland City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty, who has pushed for police budget cuts, called 911 after a Lyft driver canceled her ride and asked her to get out of his car. *
Lyft driver Richmond Frost told two Portland Police Department officers, who responded to the scene on Nov. 1, that Hardesty “became irate when he refused to roll the windows up,” according to a dispatch report,
Frost pulled into a Chevron gas station, canceled the ride and apparently asked her to leave the vehicle. Hardesty allegedly said she refused to exit the vehicle because “it was cold and she was a woman and alone.”
She called 911, telling the operator: “Well, I’ve got a Lyft driver that decided he would just drop me off at a filling station. Well, I’m not getting out of the car, in the dark, at a filling station, not happening. All because I asked him to put the window up. I’m not leaving."
“I am not going to allow him to leave me on the side of the road. I paid for a ride and he says he canceled it, so I’m just going to sit here until he sends me another ride.”
The dispatcher explained that it’s Frost’s property, no crimes were committed, and only she can order another Lyft. Officers were sent to the scene.
Lyft currently recommends that drivers keep windows down while a passenger is in the car to ensure air circulation and mitigate the spread of coronavirus.
*After Hardesty called 911, Frost made his own 911 call. *
“I’ve got a customer that I canceled the ride. I’m a rideshare driver and I canceled the ride, and I’ve taken her off the freeway to this filling station so that she can order another ride,” Frost told the 911 operator
“I canceled the ride so she’s no longer involved or engaged with me. She’s refusing to get out of my car.”
*Hardesty, who oversees the Bureau of Emergency Management which includes the city’s 911 system, did not respond to multiple requests for comment. * ( No shit, I wonder why)
*She told the Portland Tribune that she called 911 because she felt unsafe. *
What about the citizens of the city you serve? Do they feel safe after months of rioting?
“I don’t call 911 lightly, but I certainly am not going to do anything that would put my personal safety at risk,” Hardesty told the newspaper. Your personal safety at risk? What about the citizens you serve? Christ, you are one POS.
“It’s a lot harder when you are Black or brown in America to make that decision … But I ultimately had very limited options.”
Really? You are just now learning that law enforcement is who people turn to for help? So, you are black or brown , so, calling the police is hard decision, what kind of crap statement is that?
Limited options? Well, yeah, the NFL, NBA, MLB or Walmart greeters are not coming to save you. Oh, I forgot, send a social worker, there you have another option.
My gut instinct tells me you aren’t a democrat @idaho
…I’m really not sure how mo-mos like this get elected. I can’t say for certain, but I’d be willing to be hard cash she would align with Lyft’s policy under any other circumstance and believes it’s for the best interest of each person
Just another cognitively dissonant moron with a little bit of power … rules for thee, not for me.
It just couldn’t have been written any better.
Reality beats fiction every single time!

No, I am more an independent or basically a moderate conservative. I believe in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the rule of law. Sadly, our political parties are destroying our country. I am not leaning toward anything in the Democrat party now, as I see the far left wing dominating the party platform and hijacking any centrist views coming from Democrats that can actually think for themselves , instead of kissing the ass of the radicals.
Here is a naïve thought: Why cannot our leaders work for a better country? Stupid thought , I know.
The people of America have chosen a new leader based on the power of the vote, which was given (especially today) by the blood of our veterans. On January 20, my oath to protect this country from enemies foreign and domestic transfers to President Biden.
I rarely talk politics, but, here are my two concerns about the future Administration:
Biden will be so influenced by the radical left that our rights will be slowly destroyed, especially the 1st and 2 amendments.
Biden will die in office and Harris takes over.
I was thinking of this exact same quote reading that nonsense.
I agree with pretty much your whole post. Here I worry less about the first problem and more about Biden being out of the picture. But since it is the apparent choice of our nation I wish him well just as I wished Trump well after the election, and Obama before him, and Bush before that.
They would rather have servants than be servants.
Very possible, both candidates (2020 election) are/were dinosaurs
What a profoundly sad existential statement. An old man drops his donut in the brackish pools of a cold beach.
Aren’t we all just a dropped donut on the beaches of life?

I’m going to assume you’re being facetious, because your comment was funny.
