I’m not ignoring the ‘equality’ of it. I’ve been arguing that they aren’t equal. And we’re not talking about gravity or the conservation of matter here. We can change legal laws again and again.
But that has nothing to do with the point you just took a wide detour around. The impact of each disappearing.
In a literal sense? Duh? Apples also aren’t oranges, fwiw.
In a legal sense? SCOTUS disagrees.
Because either side disappearing isn’t vital to the conversation. I could weigh the pros and cons of society doing away with the internet, but it’d be kinda useless to talk about since it isn’t going to happen
That’s point 1. They aren’t even remotely equal things.
Continuing on, not only is it necessary for propagation of the species/society., but would you also agree that how heterosexual sex is carried out as a whole has some critical impact on society as a whole?
Like, the incidences of intact households vs neighborhoods of missing fathers?
Society absolutely has an interest in the orderly coupling of the smallest reproductive unit. It provides a critical and fundamental role to the species, society, and the state. Not to mention outcomes that society as a whole is impacted by.
But, homosexuality could vanish tomorrow and it bewould be an odd news story we’d shrug off before continuing on as we were.
Society cares to the extent that it needs to in order to keep the species going. Luckily the population continues to skyrocket so it’s not really a valid concern.
Agreed. We’re doing that silly circle thing again. Have a good one.
Well, we’re under replacement fertility now. Think it has been for 30 years. Anyways. There is a whole heck of a lot more to it than that. You acknowledging nearly fatherless neighborhoods actually makes my point. Society has in interest in heterosexual coupling, because a dramatic impact on the characteristics of the society. Criminality, education, etc.
