The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

Perhaps, but the flip side is that only law abiding citizens will bother going through the rigmarole to obtain the necessary permits.

Maryland, for example, is a “May Issue” state and it’s difficult to get a carry permit here. Yet, we had 300 murders and lord knows how many gun related injuries in Baltimore last year and that’s not surprising in the slightest. I can guarantee you the folks doing the killing in Charm City do not have a permit to purchase or carry a handgun nor have they been finger printed for the purpose of buying a handgun or registered their handguns, all laws here.

But I have, an honorably discharged US Marine with a squeaky clean record.

He won’t admit it, but he is quite authoritarian.

That’s been clear since he started posting here. It’s troubling more so because he thinks he’s right/smarter than other people here.

Oddly enough though, I like him.

He’s fine in my book.

Do you think the Bill of Rights was not predicated upon human nature? If not, do you believe anything in the course of history proves the authors were wrong in their beliefs about human nature?

Short on time…

Trump is a looooong way from Hitler.

I like the rest of the BOR but would love to hear if you think anything else needs changing.

Objectively I probably am smarter than most on here. Doesn’t mean I’m always right, or more knowledgeable, or can’t learn things from others here. Like UCMC, I’m learning more about some of my authoritarian leanings.

I enjoy fully hearing out ‘the other side’ because it either helps my views evolve or affirms my views. I think more folks should be similarly curious instead of being so quick to name call, disregard off hand ‘tge other side’.

I’m out for now.

I really have to take everything you say after this with a grain of salt, now. Thanks. No more benefit of the doubt for you…

True. You should’ve led with this and just dropped that first statement tbh.

again, por que no los dos?

Adios, amigo.

I think that the second amendment should be changed. The ownership of a lot of weapons systems are already prohibitively expensive (not many people can afford a $96.4M F35), but I would prefer the 2A be more specific. I personally don’t think there’s much grey area as it’s written, but obviously, I’m in the minority there.

We could probably remove the 3rd amendment. It’s not really applicable today.

I think the 10th needs to be fleshed out, a lot. Meaning what has been “reserved to the states…people.” has drastically changed since 1788.

Otherwise, I think the rest are fine as written, imo.

I’d much rather get an $18.8M a10 just to make the fart sound as I turn your ground troops into swiss cheese

A10’s are legit.

As I’m guilty of wanting to draw the line or shut the door behind me too, yeah. And since I have some criminal history.

Should that preclude me from owning guns and having the right to protect myself, family, and property though? I think not.

I’d very strongly recommend a some safety courses though. Get good habits on handling thoroughly engrained. And practice like a mofo. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been out in the woods and heard a shot or a few then buckshot or a bullet whizzing by because the dildo with a gun on the next ridge over isn’t thinking beyond the target.

You should be required to take a gun safety course in HS.

I took them in 4th 5th and 6th grade as part of our school’s archery and firearms/hunting safety course.

The BRAAAAAAAP! vid on YouTube are fucking awesome!

Seeing/hearing (dry fire) them IRL was pretty cool

That would be. My dad worked on fire control systems in the Navy. Back when A-4’s were a thing.
