The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

With this type of view, it makes perfect sense that Trump was able to convince you he cares about out country when most pols don’t

Question for anyone who wants to answer. Why did Trump run for President and what is his end game while in office? Looking for opinions and will not argue. .

I’ve decided to run for Senate in Massachusetts

To enhance/improve his Q rating in order to make more money.

Same.

Do you think he wants to do good for the country or is everything just for his benefit and some things that help the country, also align with helping Trump?

I think the controlling issue for him re every decision is ‘How will this affect me?’

Once his self-interest has been baked in, it’s worth noting that his decision-making is shaped by a toxic mixture of ignorance (he has no idea what he’s talking about) and ego (he is convinced he knows every issue better than anyone).

He realized his business empire is 1% the size it would have needed to be to have a real legacy and the thought of being forgotten by history terrifies him.

Also, I think he’s trying to create a dynasty. You know, with Ivanka running for office a decade or two in the future. In the minds of his voters, the Trump presidency will be lauded as the golden age regardless of what actually transpired.

His presidency is spoken of in books of pages. It will usher in a new era of wealth, prosperity, and money. Like a golden era, except shinyer. Children will be young and youthful. Kids too. Women will have equality and handles on their… ya know. And men will be real men. Not like the historical ones who stood on the shoulders of giants. They won’t need giants. They’ll have shoes. Big gold shoes that tie themselves!

And the economy will have lots of jobs with work to do. By the real men. Wearing big gold self tying shoes. They’ll be too busy to tie them themselves. Believe me, it’ll be great. A new era.

The latter. I think he’s indifferent to what is good for the country. And, I don’t think he’s even thought about what that means.

He wants two things: (1) to get richer and (2) to be adored and exalted.

Would explain why he and Kanye get along so well.

His son in law needed a job.

On the flip side, why did Hillary run for President?

Power.

She was Hillary Rodham, then Clinton, then Rodham Clinton, then back to Clinton. All she cares about is power, it’s fucking blind ambition Bro, just like Trump.

Anyone with this drive for power, the naked ambition, scares the fuck out of me, and apparently others.

Trump got elected as an anti Hillary vote, period. If the Dems run anyone else - Biden, Bernie, any other fuck - Trump loses.

Trump’s win was an anti Hillary vote. She is so unpalatable to the vast majority because of her blind ambition.

Just my take.

Biden wins in 2020 - he can out alpha Trump.

Or at least out grope him by touching more women and girls on camera.

Apparently that gets votes.

Remember, Trump lost the popular vote - just a sign that the process is fucked up.

Jus saying.

For all of Trump’s faults, one of his strengths seems to be listening to sensible conservatives he’s surrounding himself with.

I can take issue with a lot, maybe even most of what he says, not to mention what he tweets, but his official acts as President have been pretty solid in my opinion. I’m talking about signing legislation, issuing executive orders and acting as commander-in-chief. I’m on the fence with the tariffs but, like most of his presidency, time will tell.

I also like that he punches back. I think a lot of conservatives like that, especially people who aren’t that into politics (like me) and are sick of being called [insert character attack here]-ists. I think most of us could find ways to do it with more grace and consideration, but it’s better than rolling over and playing Mitt Romney.

I have a hard time seeing any potential Democrat challenging him in 2020. There are probably plenty of Democrats who would be a better President, but not anyone that will pass the array of ideological purity tests the Dems will be hamstringing themselves with, let alone someone who can’t get #Metoo’d internally. And let’s not even get into the shitshow that will ensue if some Republican operative, wait I mean brave sexual assault survivor, surfaces with an uncorroborated story of gross misconduct from three or four decades ago, because #believeallwomen.

May we live in interesting times…

On the contrary my friend, that is a sign that the process is working exactly as intended. Bad ideas can be very popular, after all.

Undecided voter was not daunted, and he still eyed Trump dubiously. ‘How do we know you are the Trump that Gandalf speaks about?’ he demanded. 'You never mentioned Gandalf, till this letter came out. You might be a play-acting spy, for all I can see, trying to get us to go with you. You might have done in the real Trump and took his clothes. What have you to say to that?’

'That you are a stout fellow,’ answered Trump; 'but I am afraid my only answer to you, undecided voter, is this. If I had killed the real Trump, I could kill you. And I should have killed you already without so much talk. If I was after the Ring, I could have it - NOW!’

He stood up, and seemed suddenly to grow taller. In his eyes gleamed a light, keen and commanding. Throwing back his cloak, he laid his hand on the hilt of a sword that had hung concealed by his side. They did not dare to move. Undecided voter sat wide-mouthed staring at him dumbly.

'But I am the real Trump, fortunately,’ he said, looking down at them with his face softened by a sudden smile. 'I am Trump son of Trump; and if by life or death I can save you, I will.’

There was a long silence. At last Frodo spoke with hesitation. 'I believed that you were a friend before the letter came,’ he said, 'or at least I wished to. You have frightened me several times tonight, but never in the way that servants of the Enemy would, or so I imagine. I think one of his spies would - well, seem fairer and feel fouler, if you understand.’

'I see,’ laughed Trump. 'I look foul and feel fair. Is that it? All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost.’

'Did the verses apply to you then?’ asked Frodo. 'I could not make out what they were about. But how did you know that they were in Gandalf’s letter, if you have never seen it?’

'I did not know,’ he answered. 'But I am Trump, and those verses go with that name.’
