Also, did anyone else notice that the opening scene was different this season? Seasons 1-5 all started with someone (Tony in 1-4, Carmella in 5) picking up the newspaper in the driveway. The opening dream sequence was definitely a departure from that tradition.

That damn sushi place is in my hometown! Crazy.
Tony gets shot, things are going down.
My call is Junior gets killed- having a mafia boss with alzeimers’ is far too dangerous. And Christopher is getting awfully arrogant…
I walked away from last night with my mouth hanging open. And no previews for next week? That’s messed up.
Tony isn’t going to die. The line with 911 was left open. They will trace the call and find him lying there passed out from shock, with Uncle June hiding in the closet upstairs. Upon medical examination, they will determine that the fact that T was so fat that his belly probably saved his life. There was a huge emphasis on weight the whole episode, with T weighing himself three times early on, Vito losing all kinds of weight and always talking about walking on the treadmill, and then saying how T could die of a heart attack, etc, because he’s so fat. It would be perfect irony if the fat ends up saving his life, and Chase loves irony.
Does anyone know what Junior said in Italian when he shot Tony?
Christopher has always been an arrogant little prick. He has a humongous chip on his shoulder from always being in Tony’s shadow. He walks around every day knowing that he wouldn’t be shit in the family if it wasn’t for T.
Does anyone else think that Tony is the reason Carmella’s house project got shut down? A $100k Porsche is alot cheaper than a $600k house, and it keeps her from gaining any independence. He’s one shrewd mofo.
There are a LOT of people talking to the Feds now. I’m so glad that old cocksucker croaked in mid-sentence. It really showed how the old boys can be so ignorant about rats in the family when everyone was extolling his virtues at his funeral.
As to what June said when he shot Tony. The whole episode he was talking about Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bompensiero, and how he stole his money. When he shot Tony he said “take that Bompensiero” or something to that effect, basically he wigged out and shot Tony thinking he was Big Pussy.
Junior said something about “Malanga.”
Early in the episode when they were digging in the yard he was talking about Pussy Malanga (or something like that) stealing his money in the 70s.
I watch most of my TV shows (Battlestar, Sopranos) with the closed captioning on. You pick up a lot of little things by having the dialogue up there.

I find it impossible to watch the show with the captioning on. I can’t stop reading.

I think this season will be the best. Lot’s of action and plot lines. Also a lot of unexpected stuff. The Russians are certainly a possibility.
I see Christopher finding out about Adrianna and him killing Sil, then Tony wacks Christopher. Pauli says wtf and gets out of town. Tony decides to talk to the Feds but before he can Furio makes a cameo and hits him on behalf of the commission in NY who can’t take all the publicity anymore. Tony’s son definetly fucks up and gets busted and does hard time. Meadow finally gives into her lesbian desires and does a hot girl on girl scene out by the pool and Tony catches her in the act.
Who knows.
Dude, Chris had everything to do with Adrianna getting hit - he basically dimed her and set her up - why would he have a problem with it? I really don’t understand - that’s the second mention in this thread about that issue - its a non-issue for sure.

I know, I was expecting a preview.

Good point
The entire episode had a dream-like quality to it. Either that, or the editing was just really choppy.
he said malanga, not pussy b…as far as what he said in italian when he shot tony, i want to know myself
and i told you jr wouldnt make it thro this season and that he was getting too sickk…
i pat myself on back
not that jr is dead yet but i gurantee he wont live much longer

I don’t think he’ll live much longer either, but he’ll probably die of natural causes towards the middle of the season. I expect that the guilt thrust on T because of Junior’s death will weigh in heavily on the outcome of the season.
So T survived, but now he’s a fucking vegetable. This may end up making this season much more interesting, with a big Jersey power struggle. The New York guys will take a side and it’ll be a bloodbath. It looks like AJ is gonna follow in his dad’s footsteps now…
Looked like Paulie Walnuts was shooting someone in the coming attractions.
I thought Tony would wake up when he heard AJ talking about wacking Junior.
I also don’t think Christopher talking to the FBI agents about terrorism and him running into two Arab guys at the strip club was a coincidence. Something brewing there.
Wonder who the next informant will be?
I predict Tony pulls thru by episode 4.

I’m betting Vito will be the next informant. Anybody catch his crack about being gay in the mob?
I hope they end up killing a slew of terrorists on this show. That makes me feel all tingly inside.
Yeah, I think T will pull through fairly quickly. I am wondering what is going to happen with Chrissy and the Arabs though, I could see him becoming an informant, but not against the family. Not sure about Vito, but I don’t see him lasting the entire season.

No way. The family would be better off with Meadow as its head. Or maybe Carmella’s manicurist.

Oh, you mean with shooting uncle junior. AJ’s a joke. I don’t even think he’d manage that.
Feel free to call me a dumbass but what the fuck was Tony’s dream or whatever about?

Its not a dream. He’s in Purgatory. The beacon in the distance is heaven, and the forest fires represent hell. He is right in the middle, in a kind of Sartre-esque limbo state.
And Tony…I’m not so sure that he will pull through. At least, not for the next four or five weeks.
I think they would rather give the show over to the more volatile captains, especially Christopher, than have Tony still controlling everything.
It will certainly make for a more exciting show.
“Fuck him. I hope that parasite eats his asshole”. Fucking classic.
great mind fuck episode.
THoughts.
- AJ is a big pussy. THere is no way they can turn him into a gangster. EVerytime i see that kid i want to slap him.
- Junior is dead before the mindpoint of the season. If Tony wakes up soon he dies of natural causes, if tony is in acoma for a few more episodes than junior gets whacked
- More shots of meadow dancing in lingerie are needed…immediately.
- Gandolfini is one money actor. The whole traveling salesman routine demonstrates that
- How is dr melfi going to make her reappearance
- My money is on pauli to get offed sometime in the bustups/turf wars.
- tony better make it out of a come before the end of the season…if they waited 20 months to make season six only to have him lie in a hospital bed the whole fucking time than i am going to be pissed.
all i can think of now…north jersey pride.
btw…anyone know what the metaphor for tony as the salemen is? I mean is that just shwoing what his life would have been life if he was clean and hadnt gotten into the life

This is a spot-on interpretation of the situation, man. Right on.
IMO, if T dies from a gun shot wound inflicted by his half-wit uncle, I think that would be the weakest possible ending. Of all the things that could happen, that is his demise?
If such a great show (I have been a huge and faithful fan since episode one) should end in this way, I would feel severely let down.
