The Secret of American Foreign Affairs

I normally wouldnt post (and this is my first one, go figure) but i have to stand up for soccer. I love american football, but soccer is the perfect sport.

Football (and rugby) is a power sport, won in the trenches, with aspects of speed.

Basketball is all about quickness and agility, with by and large no significant contact (unless your playing against Mutumbo and his elbows).

Boxing works, but its not a team sport, and theres nothing quite like playing at a high level with 10 other people.

Soccer is perfect. No other sport combines the power of a centre back with the quickness of a winger into one seamless game.
Other sports simply restrict thier athletes too much. Shaq, for all his strengh, isnt allowed to intimidate people the way john terry can. D Hall, with his pads on, cant match the fluid grace of Thierry Henry.

I realize its not the preffered sport of most here, but realize that a sport does not become the most popular in the world for no reason.

As for the article, i thought it was brilliant, i laughed out loud at least 5 times. esp the line about the two soccer fans sitting in their recliners discussing the game over a glass of wine, or whatever he said. Absolutely Amazing.
Soccer used to be a great game, until teams started using what I call “ball control”. By this I don’t mean dribbling and kicking, I mean the philosophy of scoring one or two goals and then spending the rest of the freakin’ game playing keep-away from the other team. BO-ring. It’s really just alot of running around dribbling after that and who gives a rats patoot about that. That why I said I like the women’s game much more. At least they keep trying to score. And I’m sorry, but if you haven’t seen someone like Jerry Rice or Keyshawn or T.O. pull in a pass thrown behind him running flat out in a crowd of defensive backs, you haven’t ever seen athletic grace in action. Concentration, speed, power, strength and a cool head under fire. Now that is my game.

And what is with soccer players and the mullet?

Damn, you should’ve changed your location in your profile. Now you will receive some nice anti-candian sentiment…

“Ha! You’re from Canada! You have no right to say anything because you weren’t born in some shithole town here in the U.S.! Now gimme some lumber.”
You forgot to say “Eh”.

e-hater,

The more I think about this the more I like it.

While I’m driving you into the ground, maybe hoosierdaddy can kick a ball over our heads.

I’ll yell, “it’s good.”

Then, “Get the hell off the field, kicker!!!”

Creamsy, uh, oh, I mean jerffy, you should really get a grip… uh… ungrip rather, before you go blind or get real hairy palms.

Hmmm… we conquered Iraq in 3 weeks. What a sad joke. This clown is nothing more than a Bush-bootlicker.

His references to “old europe” and the indecisiveness of the U.N. is an absolute farce.

Lighten up Zep… geez!

P.S. The UN is indecisive. That’s what a bureaucracy does.

It’s a serious subject so why kid?

The U.N is ineffectual mostly because of the U.S. veto!

Dude, the article was about how American Footbal has made us into a military superpower. We are unstoppable because of the Super Bowl? Come on, man… didn’t you read this article as just a little bit tongue-in-cheek?

Yeah… the French are pussies because of soccer. No, they were pussies way before that. It’s a joke, see? Smile!
