The Road to a 600kg Raw Total

Thanks dude, things feel good right now!

week 9; day 1

foam roll - quads, upper
band traction - upper

Bench:
comp pause
100kg x 3 @ 8
110kg x 3 @ 8
120kg x 3 @ 9

CGBP:
1 board
110kg x 3 @ 8.5
110kg x 3 @ 8
115kg x 3 @ 9

Seated db mp:
25kg x 8 (x4)

Chins / pull a-parts:
BW x 8 / mini x 12 (x5)

With hindsight, I should have deadlifted tonight rather than benched - chest was a little sore still from Saturday, so didn’t push the main movement too much. Still, was pleased with the 120 - that was my best max a few months back!! More there too.

Deadlifts tomorrow.

week 9; day 2

extended warm up

deads:
belt on
190kg x 3 @ 8
210kg x 2 @ 8
220kg x 1 @ 9 (x2)

banded pulls:
light band, no belt
140kg x 2 @ 8
150kg x 2 @ 8
150kg x 2 @ 9

SLDL:
belt on
120kg x 8
140kg x 8

Meh, average session - deadlifts felt really awkward today - nearly failed the 220kg ffs!! Plan was for a heavy triple @ 9, but it didn’t feel great so hit a couple of singles and called it there.

used the long band I have and looped those over the bar and stood on them - bands were about a half inch inside the rings, pretty tough!

week 9; day 3

usual

Bench against band:
light band
100kg x 3 @ 7.5
110kg x 3 @ 9
110kg x 3 @ 10
100kg x 2 @ 7
100kg x 2 @ 8

Floor press:
paused
110kg x 3 @ 8
120kg x 3 @ 9
long pause
105kg x 3 @ 8 (x3)

CGBP Rev.band:
light band
120kg x 3 @ 7
140kg x 2 @ 10 *bit too optimistic
120kg x 7 (x2)

Pretty good pressing session again - all felt pretty strong, apart from the regular bench against bands…the set-up is a tad awkward being looped under the bar. The slightest deviation throws out the entire line!!

Turns out I strained my back from yesterday, so need to take it easy for a few days on that…legs on Friday may consist of machine work etc we’ll see…

Still checking in on you often.
Strong work going on in here man.

Although I wish you could post your shit in lbs instead of kgs… makes my head hurt. I mean come on, your journal should be convenient for ME not YOU!

well well well!! How is training going man? do you keep a log anywhere???

haha I record my bodyweight in lbs  weight in kgs…I just cant be bothered to work it out!

Extra stuff

Lat/ upper back work - 10 sets
shoulders
arms

band traction - upper body. Back is sore as a mofo.

week 9; day 4

cardio - 5 mins

Leg curls:
70kg x 12 (x4)

calf raises:
stretch in between sets
100kg x 25 (x4)

Leg ext:
42kg x 15 (x4)

Leg press:
108kg x 25 (x8)
drop set x max reps @ 3 weights

RFESS:
15kg x 6
10kg x 8 (x4)

BW squat / Glute bridge:
10/10 (x3)

Ton of stretching, band traction to hips, ankle/ calves.

10 mins cardio.

Something a little different today - lower back is better, but couldn’t risk a barbell on the back, so hit some disco work for the legs!

Felt like jelly after that lot, kept rest to a minimum and really worked on hitting my weaker side. Felt gooood.

week 10; day 1

usual

Bench:
comp pause
110kg x 1 @ 8
125kg x 1 @ 8
130kg x 1 @ 9 PR
135kg x F @ 11

CGBP:
1-bd
115kg x 2 @ 8
115kg x 2 @ 9 shit set-up
115kg x 2 @ 8
115kg x 2 @ 9

DB MP:
25kg x 8
35kg x 7

Chins:
BW x 8
20kg x 3
25kg x 3 (x4)
BW x 10

Got bored revising today, so had a late one at the gym…pretty good session, pleased I went now! Massive bench PR for me - that is 10kg on my comp bench from Dec.

Thought the 135 was on, but I paused too long and only got half way - should get it with a spotter there to lift in.

Struggled swinging the db’s in to place to press - will finish that off with some GPP tomorrow.

GPP

db MP:
20kg x 8
32.5kg x 8
40kg x 5
40kg x 5
30kg x 8

Seated rows 6x10
Is, Ts, Ys 3x8
Lat pulldowns 5x10
Face pulls 3x10

Cardio 40 mins

Shoulder, ankle mobs

week 10; day 2

glute work - x-band walks, kick backs
kb swings

Deads:
Belt on
200kg x 1 @ 8
220kg x 1 @ 8
230kg x 1 @ 8
230kg x 1 @ 9
230kg x 1 @ 9

band pull:
light band
150kg x 2 @ 7
170kg x 2 @ 8
170kg x 2 @ 9 speed went here

RDL:
120kg x 6
140kg x 6
150kg x 6

Great session - was a little tentative with my sore back, but a decent warm up and some blue heat made all that fine. The 230s were quick and smooth, probably could have doubled the first set…

Kept both the other pulls fast and with minimal rest - just enough time to change the weight generally. Total session time - 50 mins or so.

Skipped core work because I was fried by the end.

week 10; day 3

usual

Band press:
light bands
100kg x 2 @ 8
110kg x 2 @ 8
115kg x 2 @ 9 (250lbs)
105kg x 2
105kg x 2

Floor press:
paused reps
110kg x 1
120kg x 1 @ 8
130kg x 1 @ 8.5
135kg x 1 @ 10 (295lbs)

Rev.band press:
CGBP
120kg x 8 @ 9
130kg x 5 @ 9
130kg x 5 @ 10
120kg x 8

Short and sharp again, going to add in GPP tomorrow…need revision time for uni. craic.

Pressing felt pretty strong, better than last week at any rate. Left pec is still tight, will probably arrange for some more massages and have a couple treatments.

BW is 209lbs/95kg in the am.

Those floor presses weren’t with reverse bands, no?! That’s farking strong; better than my best floor press. Your strength is really on the up at the mo!

the movements were - bench against light bands, floor press and reverse band cgbp…

had a good 2-3 second pause on the floor press reps too - the 135 was TOUGH, real grind.

Thanks, strength is going very well at the minute - pulled 245 dead this morning too, I am going for heavy bench tomorrow night - maybe 135 paused, or see how heavy I can go ‘tng’…

If only I could get my knee issues solved, think I am going for a referral on BUPA.

cant be bothered to log my training from the past few days - got too much on right now.

I hit a PR 245kg deadlift this morning, followed by 190kg x1 against light bands, 190kg x 3 RDL…

yesterday, reverse band bench - 155kg x 1, floor press 115kg x3x3 and some other stuff.

Maaaannn, that blows my best floor press out of the water. Having said that, my levers mean that floor pressing is a pretty tough exercise for me, my ROM is pretty similar to a normal bench press.

Deadlift gettin up there man.

Great training dude, and great deadlift PR! I had a question about powerlifting comps in England - how? lol. I’ve done a google but can’t find anything that helpful - I’m thinking I might try and find a comp for next year but know nothing about the federations or anything here.

Bench:
paused
135kg [PR]
tng
140kg [PR]

CGBP:
fat gripz
120kg x 2
125kg x 2 @ 10

Chins:
upto 35kg x 1
BW x 6 (x3)

Finally one of my long term benching goals achieved!!! Onto 150kg by the end of the year now…maybe.

*Oh and cheers for the support guys
