Mufasa
Mufasa wrote:

Now some have argued that 1) America elected a Catholic President (Kennedy) and 2) given the choice of Obama, the Christian Right/Evangelicals will vote for the GOP nominee, even if it is Romney. they will not vote at all, is my impression.[/
That “some” is me.

My answer is:

Some will stay home and others will threaten to stay home but vote anyway. Keep in mind Mufasa that about 23% of the electorate thinks that Obama is a Muslim! And I would bet a large percentage of those people are on the far right. So they will be able to compare Obama (who they think is) a Muslim to Romney who is in fact a Mormon. And I bet that the overwhelming majority will choose Romney. And the ones who do not, a tiny minority, will stay home. None of this helps Obama. Not one single right wing Chistian is ever voting for Obama–NOT HAPPENING! The Christian vote for the republican is almost as strong as the black vote for Obama.
At this point, many feel that Perry is the strongest Primary candidate (the Tea Party/Evangelical Wing of the GOP appears to be behind him); but Romney would have the best chance of beating the President.Romney will never get that chance unless there is some “soul-searching” among this important voting block within the GOP.
I totally agree with you. Romney’s toughest election is in the primaries. He is in an uphill battle, more so than the typical voter understands.

LOL. So, 23% of the electorate are dumbasses and most of them are far right?

I am going to make the logical fallacy then that all those on the far right are dumbasses.

I like it.

Michelle Bachman - “Hi! I’m here to make the other candidates look sane!”

Herman Cain - “Hi, I’m a random businessman just trying to prove the GOP isn’t racist”

Newt Gingrich - “I’m here to turn the heat of the debate toward the Democrats”

John Huntsman - “The Conservative rabble don’t get that I’m the only one who won’t get destroyed by Obama in the debates”

Gary Johnson - “Hi, I’m here to make the others look smart”

Ron Paul - “I don’t have a chance to win and I know it, so I’ll try to shape the ideology of the GOP”

Rick Perry - “I’ll be the next President of 'murrica! Yee haw!”

Mitt Romney - “I’m here to get elected in case Rick fucks up hard”

This guy already did!

Good showing last night by all of the GOP candidates. Although I think that Bachman will drop out soon if she doesn’t finish strong in the next one or two primaries. I enjoyed the exchanges between Perry and Romney. I’d love to see a Romney/Perry ticket or even vice versa. That ticket would have the best chance of removing the ineffective one from office.

Overall, that debate will change no ones mind.

Funny story. I’ve been discussing politics with a couple who lives next door. I’ve been trying to get them to watch the GOP debates. Like most Americans they are not ready to pay attention yet. But they did watch last night. Well, I spoke to the woman across the fence this morning. And the first thing out of her mouth was this; “who was that really old man…he sounded like a nut.” Of course I immediately guessed Ron Paul. And she said “Yeah Ron Paul who would vote for that guy he looks crazy?”

I told her that she’d be surprised at the amount of inexperienced young males who think Ron Paul is the greatest thing since George Washington.

That caused me to start out the day with a real belly laugh. Ron Paul truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

One more point, as the economy continues to stall and the best Obama can offer is yet another stimulus package named something else I am growing more confident that the right GOP ticket could defeat that clown. Even with the media giving him a boost of 3% or so.

The next debate is on the 22nd, so stay tuned.

Talk about a non-debate.

These things just help me to re-solidify my belief that professional politicians are creeps and will just parrot any talking point if they think it is a popular idea. They have no intention of following through with anything they talked about.

Forget the fact that the government is broke and cannot afford anything until the wars are ended. No one wants to talk about that.

Losers first:

Romney is a liar. I can’t stand wathing him. He will cause the Republican base to stay home, which will lose the election. The MSM tells us the middle likes squish moderates like Romney, but that is a lie. They like passion — example Obama, who was the most radical leftest, ever. He won because he fired up the base.

Huntsman would be a great Democrat candidate.

Bachman lost my respect with the Guardisal nonsense. It’s a fucking cancer vaccine. This is a good thing. Stop playing to the luddites in the Republican party and those who think their kids will never sin.

Ron Paul, remains an anti-semitic creep. Probably has pictures of naked boys on his iPad.

Cain, is pretty cool. But not quite there. Come back in 8 years.

Pawlenty, is a stooge who supports politicos over principal.

Leaving Perry as victor by default. Not great, but solid and would easily crush Zero.

Hey moron, get your facts straight.

Two of his greatest heroes are Jewish.

You’re just a fucking idiot spouting hateful lies.
ZEB wrote:
Comments like “building a fence to keep illegal immigrants out of the country will also be able to hold us in” was just crazy.
A fence does work both ways. It is not conspiratorial.

History shows that fences can be used to keep people out as well as in.

But you’re right…can never happen in murrica, huh? the freest country in the history of the universe!

Yeah, lots of non-anti-semites are darlings of Neo-Nazis and are photographed with the founders of Stormfront, a major neo-Nazi websites.

Here, first three hits from Bing:

Ron Paul and its Neo-Nazi Supporters

Ron Paul Spreads Oft-Refuted Lies About Israel and Gaza

Angry White Man
The bigoted past of Ron Paul.

A gun works both ways as well. It can be used to defend your loved ones, but also used to commit a crime. How come Paul isn’t worried about guns?

The point is that Paul bringing up such a possibility in 2011 is ludicrous!

But let’s not waste anymore time talking about Paul, he’ll never be more than an “also ran.”

So tell me why a bigoted anti-semite would donate his own money for a congressional medal of honor for Rosa Parks or follow the intellectual teachings of Jewish scholars?

You have no proof. Just lies.

You lie – or worse – you spread lies that you are too lazy to think about.

You mean besides the videotape of Paul taking the Hamas party line?

And 30 years of Paul’s Joooo-conspiracy scribblings?

And all the neo-Nazis who love him and he hangs around with?

Seriously, Paul has refreshing ideas regarding limited government. But he’s also a complete nut.

Fortunately, most of the electorate is well aware of that.
