It’s kinda hard to respect people who say the exact same talking points I’ve heard from racists.
Not all of them.
Members on T Nation are saying racist things? Who and where? Would you quote them?
Your statement wasn’t clear. I really had no clue what you were talking about.
Did you see my post about the missing MLK speech earlier? You never really reply to anything. Makes it tough to actually discuss stuff.
This might be the best insult I’ve heard in a while. It’s especially funny to me because I only half understand the reference and can’t picture what an AMEBP would actually look like. I’m gonna find an excuse to use this on someone - preferably at work.
I gave you the speech already. Those are his words.
No, you didn’t. That’s the point - you posted an article written about him with a supposed quote and then a speech. I’m talking about the first thing, and I replied to it, then quoted it in a second reply, with a screenshot showing exactly what I was seeing and what speech I was referring to.
Couldn’t find that a raw version of that quote but, anyway these are better lol.
I’ll repost this, @tlgains
This totally sounds like something a Russian troll would say. I have serious doubts you are even American.
Agreed. He is probably Trump.
Since a couple people have questioned it, @tlgains has been an active member. He just usually doesn’t post in PWI. He has a training log and interacts with other members in the lifting areas of the forum.
What cost did the slaves pay?
The descendants of people who allowed slavery to exist in the first place?
Bro what. Those are not out of context. I honestly give up at this point. I gave u better sources I don’t know what more you want. This is ridiculous. How are you gonna deny a document from a research institute? Doesn’t add up.
Is Common Dreams a research institute? Because that’s what I was referring to.
If it’s a few sentences and doesn’t include what comes before and after it, then yes, there is no context.
All you’ve done is post other people’s words. What is your point? To discredit MLK? To prove to us that his beliefs aren’t what we thought? You haven’t replied to almost any questions I, or anyone else, has asked you, and instead just essentially tell people they’re dumb if they don’t look at articles you post and completely agree with them.
I’m talking about the stanford article.
Forget the other one I sent in the first place.
My point is that MLK would disagree with you. So you can quit quoting him. You don’t have to agree with what MLK said it’s just those are his words and thoughts and that means everything because I’ve seen MLK used countless times in arguments about race or whatever. Now u get to see the more revolutionary side of MLK.
Can’t deny reality LOL
What have I said that MLK would disagree with? Please name one thing.
I can’t quote someone unless I know that person holds the exact same views as me?
Once again, this is an awesome rebuttal. I haven’t denied reality. I asked for you to find a speech that was mentioned, that I couldn’t find. So far I haven’t once denied that these are MLK’s words; all I’ve said was that I don’t tend to pay too much attention to 1-3 sentence long quotes unless I’ve read the entirety in the speech/paper/article in which they were written. It’s easy for anyone to pull one sentence out and say “Here, look, this is what So-And-So believes!” when if you read the whole thing, you see that that’s not quite accurate.
Why? You posted it, and at the time must’ve believed that it proved a point. Is it because I’ve asked you repeatedly to show something and you’ve repeatedly ignored or misunderstood?
I’m confused about these MLK references. Is there confusion about whether or not he believed in capitalism or socialism? Some advice for Americans is to not limit yourselves to binary thinking and ignoring context (historical, cultural, social, etc.). Thinkers tend to have beliefs that change over time. Taking a moment out of MLK’s life and assuming that was what he believed and would always believe is uneducated. The thing about public figures is that their thoughts and the process of their thinking, its evolution, is on display. MLK was a young man when he was killed and his beliefs were still developing. Add to that the specific and very dynamic circumstances he found himself in which I believe should make us view him and his beliefs as an unfinished product.
He was also a Christian which informed his opinion more than any political or economic ideology. If he believed in helping the poor it was because of Jesus, not Marx.
I mentioned (didn’t quote anything) MLK a while back. Then @tlgains posted an article where someone said MLK said something. I asked if he could find the speech that the article referenced. I’m not sure why things went where they went after that.
Exactly. Mine sure have, and I’m not that smart, haha.
Yup.
@zecarlo - You are/were a teacher, right? I feel like I remember you saying that.
