A loop of Trump saying it’s just the flu. Let’s not get into the whole intense light and disinfectant thing.
EXACTLY, @Aragorn!
And Trump does have that skill…the “Master of the Bullshit”.
Let’s say the reverse was true about the early China ban…or let’s use something that he has done, which is coddle Putin his whole Presidency.
What would Trump Do? (Are there “WWTD” Bumper stickers yet?)
-
Fake News/You KNOW you’re Fake News/Witch Hunt/Nancy Pelosi/James Comey!
-
Make sure the message is spread on Twitter, Fox State Television, Conservative Media, and at rallys (at least Pre-pandemic).
-
MAGA! Case closed.
It’s clean. It’s efficient. Does anyone think Biden has the ability to counter negative campaigning in as clean and efficient manner as Trump?
The two are not even close.
“Not what I meant! FAKE NEWS!Witch HUNT! Pelosi! James Comey!”
I think @thunderbolt23 had made a good point that Trump’s spins are effective on his base, and possibly right leaning independents who are likely voting for Trump anyways, but not really anybody else.
My thought is that if he was a master spinner, that his approval rating would move higher than they have. The numbers seem to be representative of his base, and haven’t changed much.
If I’m betting, Trump loses popular vote, but that will likely not be enough to lose the election. The GOP has a massive advantage with the electoral college.
Don’t you dare give them ideas!
Thunderbolt has the more optimistic take–the election isn’t about Biden so much as “someone else”, and the potential for former administration personnel to come out of the woodwork and appeal to voters is there.
Personally I don’t think enough savvy voters will head to the polls this fall. However there are miles to go before any sort of conclusion can even be guessed, so I’m going to withhold my final opinion on the election results for now
I am not disagreeing with most of you by any means.
There is a long time before the election, with probably more variables in between that could sway the election than any I have seen in modern history. (The most important being the trajectory of the Pandemic and the economy).
Also keep in mind that the two men running for President check off just about every high-risk factor of serious COVID-19 infection there is. This should not be downplayed by anyone.
I agree completely - but is it effective on Trump-neutral or Trump-skeptic independents? Trump carried the Electoral College with disaffected Obama voters - will they buy the MAGA sloganeering?
Will it change their minds? Right now, in those crucial battleground states Trump win, things aren’t looking so good with those voters.
One other thing - Biden can play the China card: “Trump didn’t protect us from China.”
“Because - he didn’t. All this talk about how China is the enemy, can’t be trusted, etc., and what happens on Trump’s watch? Trump let China hurt us.”
That doesn’t even work within his own party.
Biden ad exposes a rift over China on the left - POLITICO
But this will appeal to independents as tensions increase with China over the coming months:
2016 may have been since Hilary was just as disliked as Trump.
I’d do the opposite, but to each their own. FWIW I’m not dying to see Biden win or support him in any real way. I’ve had a President for a while now that lacks the ability to ever behave like an adult so even if Biden also has instances of those give me the one who can act like an adult more often.
Maybe some people will miss daily attacks on reporters, the worst “left vs right” rhetoric in history, comments on reality TV, etc.
If you take the worst human behavioral traits and roll them into a package you get Trump.
Did you even read the articles? It’s a nothingburger. A few reactions on Twitter aren’t representative of “the party”, and the criticism is really saying make sure you distinguish between the Chinese government and the Chinese.
Bottom line, though - fact is Trump failed to protect America from China, and even if the hard-left gets exercised about that due to framing, independents standing in the unemployment lines won’t.
I think you are expressing your hopes about November more than what you really believe is likely to happen. I could be wrong though.
Oh, I definitely hope Trump loses. My point is he’s vulnerable in ways incumbents usually are not. The fact that he’s running current ads talking about what a great job he’s done on the pandemic is proof he and his team are worried his dismal performance could cost him the election.
With this election I am taking “The Republic will survive either of these guys” approach.
It helps me sleep at night.
Bill Maher said it was ok to call it the China virus. He survived.
I will say that in not sure new York post is a liberal publication.
It’s not. Most would put it as right or tilted right. I mean it’s by no means a far right thing, but it certainly isn’t liberal by any means.
How about an actual listing of how Trump let us down against China during this World wide pandemic.
Not an article from Vox, the Biden campaign, etc. But your own thoughts.
Because, even after the supposed ban, people were still coming in from China. You’re welcome.

Here is an ABC story that lays it out a bit less partisan than the lot of you here.
