Well said. I don’t have the patience to dive deep into these kinds of economic discussions often, but it is often more instructive (and fair) to ignore the sharp peaks or troughs of some trigger incident

But Hunter’s e-mails
Can’t blame me for seeing a crack pun though!
Ok, they both, Trump and Biden, could be corrupt.
Honestly, I don’t know what Hunter was doing when it comes to his business dealings dealing in China - maybe he was selling classified information obtained from his daddy or whatever the accusation is - but I know Ukraine.
I was indirectly working for companies owned by some of the personalities in these stories and subsequently know how they operate. Think The Sopranos only much, much more violent.
When you’ve talking about Firtash (who was providing material to Rudy), Zlochevsky and such you’re not talking about political corruption, buying access and lobbying, but about individuals who’ve personally dismembered a lot of people (admittedly a while back).
If anything, Biden was too idealistic when it came to Ukraine - during one of his visits he had to personally sit in the Rada (parliament) to ensure that crucial anti-corruption legislation passed as the corrupt lawmakers were to embarrassed to vote against the legislation in the presence of a foreign dignitary.
He is universally hated by all Ukrainian oligarch - including Firtash who’s battling extradition to the US - which speaks volumes.
Had Hunter and Joe wanted to get involved with these guys the could have earned hundreds of millions. Not 500k per year, but hundreds of millions.
Remember Manafort, his millions and ostrich feather jackets? That, times one hundred, even for a dumb crackhead, especially if his daddy provided some tips.
Again, I don’t know what he was doing in China, but when it comes to Ukraine Sleepy Joe is clean.
So, Trump is losing money from being in politics and Biden is making money being in politics. Hmmm… I wonder who’s more corrupt.
You do realize this information is being rolled out slowly, just for people like yourself to run a defense for them and fall right into the trap that is waiting for you at the bottom of the slide.
Believe what you want, but I prefer facts over fiction. Hunter was selling access to his dad and his dad was in on it. More than in on it, he was likely the primary driver. How did a 47 year politician become a multi-millionaire anyway?
Yall wanna see something truly frightening?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Holy terrifying look, Batman!
She should never, ever, ever, wear a hair band in public.
Yes, the metadata of the PDF screenshot file shows in was made in the fall of 2019. We haven’t seen the e-mails, just alleged screenshots copied into PDFs without corresponding e-mail metadata.
In other words, the equivalent of this:

It’s amateur hour, but depressingly more than enough for Trump’s base.
I’m so glad she’s languishing in prison for all those crimes she committed.
How did you possibly come to that conclusion?
Trump has been losing money (or, if you prefer, ballooning debt) for a lot longer than he’s been a politician. He isn’t losing money BECAUSE he’s in politics. He’s losing money AND in politics, presumably initially to rejuvenate his branding. A struggling brand and targeting a pivot to politics to boost the dying commercial value of one’s own brand? That is as naked a transactional mindset as one gets in American politics. That is dangerous.
All politicians find ways to make gain for themselves financially. This is more of a trend in the past 25 or so years of “tell all” books but it’s been happening for a long time.
I’ve been following this hunter story for a while - remember it has been simmering in the background for about a year now. It’s only coming to the fore because it’s an election year, if this had legs it would have blown up already IMO. There’s going to have to be a lot more done to convince me that Biden is corrupt at the level people are shouting about.
The irony of these two statements back-to-back is quite fascinating. Talk about facts, then spit out a blatant narrative.
The same could be said of people who want this story to be true so badly they’ll spend the next month or two talking about nothing else. Roll it out slowly and watch the base’s voters dump all other concerns overboard.
Be careful, or you may find yourself trapped at the bottom of the slide yourself with your outsized enthusiasm to accept this at face value.
Trump would benefit if all the story got out as quickly as possible and legal action was taken. Drip feeding the story does not benefit him when he’s behind in the polls as much as would getting the action moving along (should this story be true) towards Biden being indicted.
When it comes to Eastern European corruption and politics, I’ll trust my own nose (and those of people who have been engaged politically or business wise over there) over Trump’s team thank you very much.
I havent dug into the Hunter story much, but it is a bit of a coincidence to have your VP father in charge of relations to a mere 2 countries, and you score financial benefit in a major way. And in industries and cultures that you have had zero previous exposure. Zero.
On top of being a never do well.
Why defend looking into the obvious smoke for the fire?
I mean, I suppose… But then you’d have to acknowledge a lot of the shady coincidences of the Trump clan if that’s your measuring stick.
Besides which I’m am almost 100% positive that wasn’t VP Biden’s only FP responsibility, so I don’t agree with your premise.
No argument there. But it’s also quite common for people to try to ingratiate themselves in ways like this (call it another form of lobbying), without needing corruption as a motive for the receiving politician.
I’m not. I’m just being consistent here - there’s less meat on this than the Trump/Russia connection, so if your position is that there IS no Trump/Russia corruption you should be equally reticent here even though the politician is for the other side. On the other hand if one was of the opinion that there was collusion, then I could see being more accepting of this story at face value. Even though the story details have changed several times and has yet to be corroborated.
Besides which I find it generally wise never to take a bombshell story at first blush unless I have compelling reasons or underlying logic to. In any case, this story has been sitting around for quite a while without action, and only now sees action 2 weeks out of election day. That’s a red flag to me.
You covid has driven you insane with fever ![]()
In fairness, this didnt just appear
In that case he would have a lot in common with Trump’s children who have been put in power positions by the President with far more influence and zero experience.
I stated from 4 years back, l was against that.
Check if you like - was and are against that nepotism.
Edit tired of arguing on the other thread?lol
Gonna break out the wild turkey
You and @Aragorn can carpool and road trip. Mask up tho.
Not questioning that my man just pointing out the similarity.
Don’t forget boredom sir!
I’m not disputing that he was pointman for Ukraine and China at all. I’m just saying I don’t believe that was the sum total of his FP responsibilities as you seemed to say earlier.
We’re on the same page here.
I am drinking Glenmorangie 14 at the moment. I shall bring some other refreshments with me, but wait until I am officially covid-free (at least a week).
My decidedly feminine wife (see other thread) would shoot the 3 of us, albeit in a genteel Southern manner.
For the scotch or for me driving down with the plague? ![]()
We aren’t getting over the lock her/him up chants anytime soon. In fact the people who have been locked up the most are his advisors/friends.
Trump pushing things will get better when I’m President is a weird push considering he’s President…
