Better work on either the kill rate or the incarceration rate…maybe both.
I’d work on the intact home rate, the much maligned nuclear family. Unlike progressives, I would push back on a culture of casual sex and violence. There is no excuse and it’s shameful. From games, to movies, to music—-so much violence. And often associated with guns.
I would set up the bigliest commissions to examine laws that, while good meaning (keep drugs out of neighborhoods), MAY exacerbate problems by creating career criminals.
And unlike libertarians I would target extra resources to black communities. Not because of reparations or white privilege. But simply because we’ve ID’d fellow Americans as a subgroup that we, as a generous people who care for one another, can target with directed assistance to build up families, moral virtues, and communities. And I certainly wouldn’t freak the heck out because churches with traditional values became major partners. Oh no they won’t hire trans-gendered pro-abortionists! Nope, don’t want your help!
I’d also be skeptical of shipping lower skilled jobs over seas in some globalism trade off. Or, filling too many jobs with immigration. I’d force businesses to invest into this country, making use of its people. We need lower rungs on the ladder for people to climb up on.
But mostly. Respect both parents, who are married and in the home to supervise and/or work. I am confident that simply doing that would nearly close any gap. That little bit left of gap left? Sure, chalk it up to “systemic racism.” I happen to believe the internals are the more important factors today.

Yep. And committing crimes robs people of economic opportunities. So does disproportionately being victims of violence (almost exclusively intraracial)
And so does being raised in broken homes. For which there is also a huge discrepancy between whites and blacks.
So does inattention and unruliness in school. Non supervision for school work after the school day. Who checks on homework if mom works 2-3 jobs to make up for the missing income of a missing father? Who drags the child out of those violent streets when the male child quickly eclipses the physicality of his mother? One reason why the BLM organization is so revolting is that they take a stance against the nuclear family! Um, well, mission accomplished! And look at the stats that have followed the breakdown in the black family!
An intact family roughens the edges of poverty. Increasing the likelihood of escaping it.
Marry the mother. Discipline the children. Put the majority of society’s attention on where the problems must be solved today. Within the families and communities. I bet that alone would nearly close the gap.
If I could wave a magic wand to close the nearly 70% out of wedlock rate to the mid 20% of whites…I bet we’d see a massive improvement nearly closing all other gaps. But nah, we want to publicly affirm an illiterate sounding song about prostituting ones wet ass pussy in mainstream sources. Want to help families? Family friendly our culture once again.
I have no doubt white privilege and racism exists. But today I am convinced it barely moves the needle.

I don’t disagree with your point generally - I think its perfectly fair to point out where there are self-inflicted wounds in need of fixing. But, your original rebuttal is that AAs commit more crimes (on a rate basis) - setting aside that doesn’t eliminate the possible existence of discrimination in policing as a cause of higher shooting/excessive rates, you concede that what may be driving so many negative outcomes (living a life of crime) are these other areas where we’re seeing disproportionate results for AAs as well.
So, yes, if an AA doesn’t have decent schools, opportunities for work, and yes, better home life, they are more likely to end up in crime, which increases their chances of a bad interaction with cops.
But here’s the point - it’s basically irrelevant. In a situation where a cop is exercising force, none of that matters. A cop isn’t entitled to use more force against an AA unmarried, tattooed father of seven blasting gangster rap out of his car than he would on a white suburban choir boy with a “Jesus is my co-pilot” bumper sticker.
It’s not good that so many AAs commit crimes - but that fact doesn’t change the rules of engagement with LEOs.
You are right here. There are situations where killing by police is not warranted. I think they are rare, but do exist, and we should work to eliminate those occurrences.
Concluding that racism is the reason that the police kill more black men as a percentage of population than white men is a hard sell because of crime rates between these populations. I have read studies that come to conclusions of racism (usually these ignore crime rates), and studies that say it is completely unsupported to think the police are racist. It is hard to know what to believe.
IMO, it is a combination of both that black Americans commit more crimes, but that there is also a racist bias at play that explain the difference in outcome. How much of each of these contribute to the outcome is hard to quantify. Some would say it is almost all the former, some almost all the latter. I just don’t know.
You’re right. But if he’s—our suburban white choir boy being arrested on warrants and for allegedly committing a crime in the present—already fought off two cops, been tased, and is still reaching into a vehicle with children and a knife… Unarmed white folks do get killed by police officers.
By the way, what are the chances a married tattoo less suburban looking/sounding AA male who cooperates from start to finish even meets any force?

So the people who commit violent crime at a higher rate shouldn’t have police interactions at a higher rate? When the cops are looking for a murderer, it’s most likely going to be a black man. In other words, over half the people who would be arrested for murder, will be black.
And given the fact that murderers are violent, it means that there is a greater chance of the arrest turning violent. So far, the majority of police shootings involved someone who, surprise surprise, was already a violent criminal.
Also, if we want to continue to dismantle BLM narratives; whites are more often victimized by blacks than the other way around. Hmmm… who exactly are the racists?
And it’s the same for white suspects.

I think that’s the most sensible outcome based on the data and other evidence, and you’re right, it’s impossible to know for sure because racism is acting on a belief. Whether that is occurring is hard to discern (unless there is something obvious and overt, like a card-carrying Nazi).
But the information suggests something isn’t right, and is backed up by the fact that 90% of AAs believe cops use excessive force on AAs. With that high a %, the idea that they’re all imagining it and they need to get over it is a ludicrous approach.

Some pretty crappy martyrs for something supposedly so far out of whack. You’d expect it to be easier to line up clear cut examples. How about the number of recent hate hoaxes? Or, the recent lynchings early on in this unrest that—-oh man, how boring—turned out to be suicides? The hate noose that turned out to be a door pull in a garage? Thank gosh we have a few Karen virals to satiate the appetite between all the clear cut cases of hate crimes.
There are some hard damn truths that both the media and the Democrat party has done so very little to propagate.

That’s the problem - you can’t suspend your hatred for “BLM and Lefties” long enough to evaluate something else objectively. What “BLM and Lefties” do is 100% irrelevant to assessing why 90% of AAs feel this way. You just want to change the subject, because it’s more fun to be mad at someone.

Are you joking? I’ve been listening for months. Years… You can’t watch a sports game, take a new job, attend college, visit businesses (mortar or virtual), turn on the TV, without seeing people kneel at our national anthem, stand for a black national anthem, display some kind of ally flair, discuss my inherited guilt and privilege, remind me that I need to follow the script (shhh on the unpleasant stuff) to be an adequate ally, etc. All the while watching black men who attempt to bring up a much more balanced and realistic view, dealing with more immediate and likely threats to black lives (astronomically more so), get reduced to Uncle Toms by the lefty rank and file.
Biden knows, he’ll tell you they ain’t black.
Why? Because it didn’t happen under Obama Biden? My understanding is that the numbers have actually been stable for a number of years now.
