The Push to 2020 Has Begun!

It’s a potentially scary thought; will we be even more polarized as a nation (meaning Trump didn’t really do anything to make his base feel less miserable about their lives while pushing those who oppose him further away)? If so, who will step up? Someone who will fill the leadership void by trying to be less divisive and think about Americans rather than about some vision of America which can’t even be defined (what does make America great again really mean?)? Or will we get another spineless demagogue who is good at staying in power but has no clue about how to use it to benefit the people he represents?

I’ve said this for a long time now. I fully agree, the longer Trump stays “in” the party the more permanent damage he does to all the sane things the party stands for

I don’t know how we avoid it, @zecarlo

Nobody…and I mean NObody…is doing any self-introspection.

Just today I received a short Conservative OP-ed blaming the divisiveness of the Country on Pelosi, Shiff and the DEMS…while Trump is simply trying to “do his job”…with no hint whatsoever that he is at the epicenter of the divisiveness. (Which I am sure must be repeated on FOX and other Conservative media).

There is certainly enough blame to go around…but to make Trump “innocent” in all of this goes beyond any sense of reason.

There are those who blame the sudden rise of racism in this nation, because things were so great before, on Obama.

Biden is slipping BADLY.

After Iowa…the DEMS are looking weak and disorganized.

Bloomberg is getting more write-ins than some candidates are getting “regular” votes.

Trump has made sure to have huge rallies in each Primary State where he is (in typical Trump fashion) rubbing the DEMS faces in shit.

MAGA.

When is the last time they didn’t look weak and disorganized? 2012?

I watch the news less and less these days, but I did catch a clip of Joe Biden on my break yesterday. The guys on the floor we’re having a real hoot watching it. Old Diamond Joe knows how to connect with blue collar guys!

We saw a few minutes of Joe Biden telling a story to a group of black people, presumably in an attempt to connect with them. Something about working as a lifeguard and resolving a conflict with a man armed with razor blades who was a real tough guy.

Cringeworthy and incoherent is the only way I could describe it. I especially cringe at people who suddenly acquire a different accent when speaking to black people, as Biden seemed to do in the video.

Well I looked it up and it’s two year old video and the bad hombres name was Corn Pop. Not exactly breaking news but that’s why you shouldn’t get your news from me.

I’m sure Biden’s doing even better now than when he wowed they crowd with his Corn Pop story.

From Medicare to Medicaid…and from Food Stamps to Social Security…Trump is proposing cuts to not only Health Care…but to the very “Safety Nets” that keep food on the table for many people and keep them above water (many of whom are in “Trump Country”, by the way…).

Think all of this is just going to affect “Welfare Queens” and Inner City Thugs?
Think again.

The man is right…he can do any damn thing he wants, and his base support will not waver.

Biden is history…and as far as this election goes?

So are the DEMS.

A sick part of me wants to see it be Biden vs Trump just for the amount of cringe and incoherence between the two. It’s pretty obvious that for whatever reason (age or something else) that these two have a tough time formulating speeches that consistently make sense.

And since they both seems to go “off script” so often it would be even more lunacy. Not necessarily great for the country but for pure entertainment value the watching of two geriatrics consistently screwing up might be better than most sitcoms.

Joe’s been in the spotlight and public sphere for a while so we’re used to this from him. We know he is always a second away from nonsense. Trump is arguably the most “wtf is he even talking about” politician in history. The showdown would be epic.

In terms of debating…I think Trump would have the hardest time with Mayor Pete; Klobuchar and Bloomberg.

I just think the other’s can be easily “Trumped”.

Thoughts?

I think you need quotes around debating. Trump does nothing resembling debating.

I’ll say it every time something like this happens.

President Obama would have been hung from the Washington Monument by the Tea Party.

"The four federal prosecutors who took the case against longtime Donald Trump confidant Roger Stone to trial withdrew their involvement Tuesday after top Justice Department officials disavowed and undercut them by reducing the government’s recommended sentence against Stone.

The stunning and politically charged decision to reduce prosecutors’ recommended sentence of up to nine years came hours after Trump publicly criticized it, immediately raising questions about the Justice Department’s independence from political pressure".

What? Barr was hired by trump, and like any employee working for trump, he should do what trump says to do. That’s how business work. Duh!

This is intriguing to me as well. I seem to recall that some type of mutual combat challenge has been issued, but I can’t remember the exact circumstances or who said what. I think it was Biden saying he’d take Trump out back and beat him up back in high school or something like that.

This is legit beef now. Man vs. man. The oldest game in the world. Sorting things out the old-fashioned way. Like it used to be done. I remember when there used to be a church over there. A tall woman named Ethel would throw bread at the pigeons, but that was when I still drove the old Buick. You don’t remember this now, but we had curb feelers and people just wanted to get by without dying of polio. So I asked Ethel’s brother for a crowbar, and went out there to handle the situation.

Really? Do you really think that?

Assuming that you don’t, do you think Democrats are easier on Trump than Republicans were on Obama? What about the media? Do you think a larger portion of the media is gentler on Trump than it was on Obama? Do you think the market share of pro-Trump media is larger than that of pro-Obama media?

About the same. However, Obama was a decent seeming family man, so I would expect his negative press to be far less.

You are one of the many frogs that have been boiled alive.

Depends on the segment, but in general yes. Sinclair Broadcast Group reaches 4 out of 10 Americans through local TV stations with the message to the faithful from the God Emperor.

Also, Fox leads the cable news coverage and this complements Sinclair coverage.

I’m going to say this once, and let you come to your own conclusions, @NickViar

A lot of the anger directed at Trump is self-imposed by his own actions and vitriol.

While I’m sure that many Conservatives would say that the same could be said about President Obama…I would in turn call it major bullshit.

The “worst” that I can recall President Obama saying about “the other side” was a comment never even meant to be condescending but descriptive of peoples attitudes (the “Bible and Guns” comment)…and the Conservative Biosphere went bat-shit crazy.

Compare that with the comments and Tweets Trump has made toward DEMS; President Obama; Nancy Pelosi; 12 year old autistic activist; men giving speeches who have spastic Cerebral Palsy; world leaders; any individual who defied him and or who refused to kiss his feet; women…you name it…the list is endless…and any objective person would say that any anger directed is much more self-imposed than it ever was by President Obama.

Is Trump just “fighting back”?

No…he is just being the narcissistic, ego-driven ass he has been his whole Life.
