The Push to 2020 Has Begun!

Is this because of a particular outcome(s), or because of concerns about future outcomes?

That’s fine. Trumps promises aren’t connected to any sort of reality anyways so we could tie them to whatever we wanted. He essentially ran as a magician.

“ I will do these things…only I know how and I know more than the experts and generals and everyone else. No one else can do what I can. Ahh how will I do these things you ask? A magician never reveals his secrets!”

That was good enough for the GOP. Didn’t seem like those other candidates they had could pull those tricks off.

You’ve tried (failed) to reframe this as being against Trump isn’t worthy of a vote for Biden. That’s nonsense.

The Presidency is, at its core, a job that has required competencies. Failure to have those competencies is a reason to lose that job.

Just as coaches know they have to make a change when a QB has thrown 6 interceptions and the defense is tired and fed up with the mistakes being made when the offense can’t get it together, it’s a perfectly valid judgment call to say Trump can’t be trusted with the job and we need to try someone new.

Based on our system, the “backup QB” to replace the failing Trump is Biden. Biden’s qualifications to step in and be given a shot are fine. He understands the game at this level (yes, that matters) and gives no impression that his ineptitude is a high as Trump’s.

Biden may be terrible from 2020 to 2024, who knows (though I suspect not, I think he’d be a garden variety liberal, in which case, the country would do just fine, see recent examples). What he doesn’t represent is the enormous downside of a Trump, so that’s reason alone to give him a shot.

I should also say that I’m very much for a lot of what Trump says.

I’m for the virus disappearing. I’m for him being too busy to golf or tweet. I’m for Mexico paying for the wall. For him eliminating the debt. For everyone to have healthcare coverage cheaper than now.

I’m not opposed to many of the things he has said.

One other reason for Biden - anecdotal, but I personally concur - business needs a steady environment in the WH. Businesspeople I talk,to feel the exact same. I can price in and plan with a sane Democrat. I can’t with a dimwitted, impulsive maniac like Trump.

We had people on this very forum with right leaning histories say they would vote against Trump because of what he had been and how he behaved even before we had a Democratic candidate. That’s 100% on Trump and a sign of how powerful the “dude give me a random name out of a phone book” type thinking is.

I mean maybe it’s a fun political forum game to play or whatever but it’s really dismissing what most people do when they vote which is analyze the members of the two main parties and decide who they like better. I mean we had people on here who said they would vote against Clinton for forever. It wasnt going to be because they were going to support whoever the GOP ran because they loved the 16 or whatever candidates. They just knew they couldn’t vote Clinton.

C’mon, I was making a self-deprecating joke there. Hopefully these Marxist revolutionary elements will soon disappear into a cloud of woke smoke, never to be seen or heard from again. If not, let’s take note together and decide what their presence and influence means.

I completely understand your point that the Trump Menace has reared its head, and we ought to consider the threat it poses.

You could’ve also saved the essay and just said that you don’t think Joe Biden’s policy or those of the DNC merits discussion in this thread.

Not when Orange Man Bad.

Still no takers for the 2020 PWI Civics Challenge. Pick a policy and advocate for it.

Oh, I do think they deserve merit - I’m just not allowing you to skip over a meritorious reason to vote for Biden because it ideologically inconveniences you, given that Trump is a historic disaster.

I already did this although due to limited time and details I didn’t advocate much. I’m sure some of it I’d be very against some I’d be very for and some I’d really need to see exactly what was meant by it and how it would happen. No candidate ever matches me 100% and even the ones I don’t like I can typically find places of agreement.

But again that’s just asking for something different than what people are telling you. Why you voting for Biden? He’s not Trump. Ok so Orange Man Bad. Why you voting for Biden? He’s not Trump. Ok so Orange Man Bad.

This isn’t just me and TB dude. You’ve got other people who are completely fine with Orange Man Bad being checkmate.

I know, I’m tired. I missed it.

No more posting for me today! Good night all!

I’m just getting warmed up. I’ve got 5 hours of work to do that I was supposed to be working on before T-Nation happened.

And ugh is this forum making it hard to want to post on I really hope they fix these bugs soon.

Biden:

  • Using the federal government to ramp up massive testing: YEP, SUPPORT
  • Tackle infrastructure after 4 years of Trump farting around on a wall he never built with pesos: YEP, SUPPORT
  • Boost rural America through smart trade and public investment: YEP, SUPPORT
  • Foreign policy, as in having one that doesn’t center on whimpering and sucking up to foreign rivals and adversaries: YEP, SUPPORT

These are some examples.

I’m posting one more time tonight to walk my previous idea back. I’m still interested in finding out what he brings into this policy mix, but I’m very glad to have listened to his most recent release. I’ve not yet revised my opinion on his earlier work, but I Like This A Lot.

This is a very powerful work of art. It’s not a sound I’d dance to or put on around the campfire, but neither are a lot of other unusual sounds and visual expressions I’ve come to appreciate over the decades.

I’m not sure where this puts Kanye in my presidential calculation, but I hope it pushes the discussion to the same kind of core issues he seems to be driving at with his art. Maybe I’m misinterpreting it, but I welcome whatever the man brings to the table.

Kanye’s in. Trump’s base hardest hit.

United States wrapper Kayne West announces presidential candidacy, citing lack of ignorant, boorish, attention-seeking narcissists in race.

I realize that was a joke but if Kanye actually runs and gets on the ballot the only person he has a chance of taking votes from really is Biden. Given Kanye’s feelings for Trump I’m not sure if this is his goal or what. Could be.

Either way I believe he has a history of saying this anyways. Could be another publicity stunt but who knows. We’ve already shown a lack of understanding how the government runs won’t disqualify you from being President. I have no idea what his knowledge base on that is anyways. I just know we can now say it doesn’t matter much. He could be Marxist as I believe I read that he marched in a black lives matter protest.

I asked my daughter what she thought about Kanye West; she asked, “who?”

I think we (and definitely he) overestimate his popularity and influence.

Just studying them is okay to me. I could be for reparations to black folks who lived through Jim Crow laws, and are still alive. I haven’t seen a rational argument supporting reparations for slavery yet, so I don’t support that idea.

I’m for reparations provided it goes to African-Americans and not just anyone who claims to be or is black. Your ancestors need to have been slaves in America. I don’t know if we should apply the one drop rule or not (which opens a different can of worms).

The caveat is, the money can only be used for school supplies, tutoring, private school tuition, college costs, job training costs, rent or mortgage, a business (existing or starting up) and anything else that follows the reasoning of what was just listed. It also does not get paid in a lump sum unless a case can be made for needing it all at once, such as starting a business. People will need to provide receipts to show how they are spending the money in order to continue getting it. Of course, if reparations were to happen this would not occur and people would just get money with no strings and people who shouldn’t get any would get it as well as the government would not use any real oversight or place conditions. After people buy new sneakers, rims for their cars, jewelry, etc., they will look out of their windows and wonder why nothing has changed… and ask for more money.

I don’t know how you can justify this. It seems immoral to punish people for the wrongs of their ancestors. If the people who are wronged are still alive, I can see damages being paid out.
