If the Obama campaign and any voter doubts the “folksy/gee-whiz/hockey mom/giggly cheerleader” appeal of Palin…they are going to be completely blindsided come November.

Biden may be respected on some corners; but this woman is LOVED

Discount this appeal, or keep writing it off as lacking substance…and you’ll see Palin wielding that gavel in the Senate Chambers.

I think there is much more to this than most people are recognizing. Even some some city folks will find it irresistible. On the other hand that will be mitigated some by turning some others.

It wouldn’t be annoying if she didn’t intentionally play it up so much. And if she didn’t act like she had cornered the market on ‘down home appeal.’
Of the four people in this race, she does have the market cornered on being a real person.

Change some of her phrases, and change her accent - she would be a Texan.

I would hate to live somewhere that did not have these people in their society.

We call it salt of the earth. Like it or not - believe it or not - Palin is not playing anything up. At least not in my opinion.

See my post a couple above.

Well, I didn’t watch it. I was enjoying watching the cubs get crushed in the play-offs, but there is one observation that struck me…I am aware of media bias, but it never ceases to piss me off. I love how CNN declared Biden the winner based on a CNN web poll…Though they admit it in the article the headline reads “Poll shows Biden the winner”. What a load of fucking horse shit. I really don’t know how these people look at themselves in the mirror and just not want to fucking kill themselves; because they should.

Hey, I’d fuck 'er. I can’t say the same for biden…

Again;

If ANY media outlet declared a “win” for Biden or Palin; they are biased. (Making note, however, of a debate “novice” holding her own with a 35 year Senate veteran).

Let me throw this out too:

How many times has McCain been counted out since before the Primaries?

My point is that there are real people everywhere. Even in the Northeast. Even (gasp) in cities. Maybe you identify more with Palin culturally but that doesn’t mean she’s the only one in touch with the average American. Scranton was a coal miners town, a close-knit community. They know what it’s like to work hard. And they’ve had to deal with the harships that come from the community’s key resource drying up. I’m not criticizing the way she talks (for the most part…). But her constant hearkening to her background. But I guess it is fair for her to use her her assets in this race. Maybe it’s not even Palin that’s bothering me. Maybe the problem is Biden and McCain ALLOWING her to paint the picture that being from Wasilla gives her some special understanding and window into the American people.

Funny cause when I was watching the debate I was thinking that she would probably make a really good elementary school teacher.

You wouldn’t have liked her if she stripped down to here udnerwear and had given you a lap dance.

Sure, I would. I just wouldn’t have voted for her. I wouldn’t vote for her. Of course, this election is not really about Biden and Palin anyway.

Really???

I think she’s annoying as hell. I doubt if I could take 5 minutes alone with her without going crazy.

I agree.

I think she tries to hard which comes across as fake and disingenuous.

I believe you may be even more annoyed to learn that she probably isn’t playing it up at all. I lived in Valdez for 5 months in 1989 and that’s pretty much how they talk. At least the ones who’ve been there a long time.
How in the hell could you take it without duct taping everyone’s mouth shut?

Seems it to me. I mean, I do think that it’s her natural way of talking and natural personality. But it definitely seems like she’s purposely exagerrating to me.

Democrats said by an 87-11 margin that Biden prevailed.

Republicans favored Palin in a narrower 80-19 split.

And what of those sought-after independents?

Sixty-nine percent scored the debate for Biden. Just 31 percent picked Palin.

It is a little bit like being stuck in a bad 50s movie or Glinda from Wizard of Oz…

I liken last nights debate to one that Ronald Reagan won in 1980 vs Jimmy Carter. At the end of the debate you knew that Carter was the Washington insider as a sitting President. But, Ronald Reagans charm with his down to earth resolutions to real problems shined through and you walked away not just agreeing with what he had to say, but liking him as well.

Well, this ain’t 1980. A Republican spent the last 8 years in the White House, not a Democrat.

Reagan rode a wing of change phase. Palin actually condoned Bush’s policies. Her side is running on slogans. Democrats are running on the same concept as Reagan did.

Correct me if I got something wrong.

Exactly how stupid are you? No seriously…Each time I think you’ve hit a new low and can’t get any dumber…YOU TOP IT.

I made a Palin comparison to Reagan relative to his likeability and his down to earth answers, that 's it dipshit, no more no less.

My comment had NOTHING to do with who was in power, or who will be in power…Why don’t you get the fuck off this forum you’re a total moron.

Well at least one thing is for sure, he find our country more interesting then any of the shitholes he’s ever called home. I guess that means we’re better.

I was in NYC for a week several years back. I was given free Copenhagen every monrning in exchange for going down to the little bodega next to the hotel and just talking.

They PAID me to talk. I was only about 2 years out of the cowboying business, and those stupid fucking Yankees ate my personality up like it was candy

Palin is just a regular chick who lives in an irregular place. My college roommate is from Hamilton, Montana - and he talks exactly like Palin.

I can only think that you yankee bastards are just a little jealous of people with personality.
