The Omega Man is Dead

American actor Charleton Heston died yesterday, at 84 years.

Nobody personified the irrepressible, unbending, strong-jawed hero like he did.

Some personal favorites include:

Soylent Green
Planet of the Apes 1+2
El Cid

October 4th 1924 - April 5th 2008

RIP, Omega Man

RIP.

“Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!”

RIP

Damn, back when I was a kid, he was my favorite actor, RIP.

SPOILER ALERT

Soylent Green is made out of people! It’s People!

END SPOILER ALERT

Godspeed Chuck

Aw man,… I was just watching planet of the apes friday night. He was such a funny character actor (I know that wasn’t the idea, but come on!). My brother and I used to impersonate his speech patterm all the time… shame, he was definitely one of the last few from that era where hollywood made some really large scale pictures.

“It’s a madhouse in here! A MAAAADDDHOOUUUSSSSEEE!!!”

A rest well earned. RIP.

See you later, Mr. Heston. A true man’s man.

Ben Hur is one of the greatest films ever.

RIP Chuck.

When someone lives like that, no one should be sad at their passing. I doubt there was much on Earth that he wanted to do that he didn’t.

Quoted for undeniable truth.

Still, we’re a little selfish and short sighted…we like to keep our heros around in the flesh as long as possible, and then some.

I just finished reading his autobiography at the start of this year and he came across as a very intelligent and thoughtful man who strongly believed in individual rights and responsibilities.

He sure had an interesting life as well.

Rest In Peace.
