The Ninja CREAMi Thread

Plain ol protein powder or MD?

I actually have to use a whey isolate or a non whey powder. Sucks because I like the MD.

That’ll be delicious, maybe a bit icy with the almond milk (but I know you’re working around some dietary restrictions). Almond milk definitely drops the total calories, though.

Try the creamer using re-spin: about a tablespoon. Should work even better than using the mix-in button, which is typically for solid add-ins: nuts, chocolate chips, etc.

Good advice. I made the same vanilla without the coffee creamer yesterday. I spun it on ice cream, it was a bit icy looking. I added in a little bit more almond milk hit the light ice cream setting. That was wild. It spins it a lot faster. It turned out like really light soft serve. Was good but not what you think about when you think ice cream.

Well I tried it. It was good. Only knock was my current vanilla protein is a malted vanilla so it kind of over powers the taste of things added to it.

I am looking for a good vanilla isolate to use now for new recipes.

Our local Costco has the Creami Deluxe on sale.

I also had an epiphany last night while I was trying to stir protein into chocolate milk in the creami container. Why am I stirring in this and not measuring in my shaker cup and shaking up and pouring in? MUCH easier. LoL. Only took me 3 times making ice cream to figure that out.

Me: Saw these pint sleeves/cozies on Amazon. Don’t order them; I just thought they were kinda neat.

Wife: Ordered!

Why show me something you don’t want? I knew you secretly wanted them.

Probably.

I took the cheap way out. My lids now say Dad on them. Very fancy in sharpy. :joy:

As soon as I saw this post, I ran out and bought one! Been watching these ever since Chris first posted about his, and all of his delicious recipes. Thanks for sharing the Costco find!

I’ve seen vids of people using a milk frother to blend their bases. This is handy because you can do it right in the pint and not mess with a bowl, whisk, and spatula.

I didn’t think it would work though with protein powder bases, which sometimes have even more powders added like PB2, cocoa, etc. But I picked one up and tried it. It works! Saves a lot of clean up time, and it’s quiet.

Here’s the one I got on Amazon: Bodum Milk Frother.

What does this do to the finished product ?

It’s the same. The froth settles down as it sits freezing, then it’s churned, so no difference in the final product, just less clean-up when making it.

Ok so another update. I had it packaged to send back and my wife changed her mind. We now love it. I had not tried it really but all I’ve been doing is freezing Fairlife Protein shakes and they are phenomenal in th creami.

I just got mine today but haven’t opened it yet. Still deciding if I really need it or not.
Will I like it that much more than just making thick smoothies in the vitamix?

Not sure as I’ve never tried your method. I’m not a big “fake snack” guy. More of an obstainer. But if you must have something this is definitely a solid tool.

I’m. It really a snacker either. I just make a smoothie rather than have a shake for last meal.
I may have gotten swept up in this thread.
I’ll leave it in the box for a couple days and mull it over. Hate having shit I don’t use.

Well, one is ice cream. One is not. I love a thick smoothie, but it’s just not ice cream. I think the key is to really learn how to use the Creami. I sat down and read the direction books over and over. Once you get the steps down, it’s fast and easy, but I was a bit intimidated at first. But the thought of eating ice cream again (while getting leaner) pushed me through the learning process. This video shows the steps pretty well.

It’s just one of those things that I need to decide if I’ll use it enough to keep it around. I hate having unused kitchen gadgets clogging up my cupboards
