I know the paragon of virtue candidate doesn’t exist, and even if he did I doubt he could win.

You can look up the exact figure but the white population decreases 2% every 4 years in America. This is the majority of the conservative base in the United States. How on earth do you expect to have politicians who are conservative to win elections, install conservative judges, vote against welfare state policies when US voters are continually less conservative every year?
Yet, somehow, the Republican party has control of both houses of Congress and a record number of Governorships iirc.
And Raj, it bears repeating - you’re an immigrant. You are not of this country, you weren’t raised and steeped in its culture or traditions, it’s only your home because of the generosity of our immigration policies.
None of that is stated as an insult or degradation - far from it, you’re more than welcome to come here from a different world to join and add to the greatest nation on earth. That’s what America was built on. America’s greatness is that it is a nation of ideas, not predicated on blood and soil tribalism.
But you are trying to be a nativist, and you can’t be. Nativism is retrograde and disgusting, but it certainly requires you to be native to preach it. You sound absolutely absurd trying to defend America from the poisoning influence of non-Americans coming to our country.

You have already faceplanted over this several times. Remember, when you were taught all about how the SecState isn’t part of Africom or Centcom C&C? Remember when USMC reduced your babbled innuendo to nothing, using rare/fancy stuff like evidence and testimony (much of it from Republicans, mind you!). Remember the stuff about Bush and Reagan? About people like you who don’t understand the capabilities and limitations of our military (“cartoonish,” as Gates put it), and whether or not they (i.e., you) should have opinions on this stuff at all? Remember?

Um, by winning the debate in the marketplace of ideas by explaining why conservatism is better than all the other alternatives?
It truly is a rotten choice but I look at it as a reflection of America and how it’s people have been dumbed down (on both sides) to be able to embrace such poor choices. As they say we get the leadership we deserve. I’ve seen some very credible people run for the Presidency in my lifetime. Very honorable people from both parties. But that was when we had people who were honorable and credible. Walk down the street today and what do you see? For the most part (depending where you live of course) we see an overweight population walking around with more tattoos than brains. And these people know more about the Kardasians than they do the candidates who were running in the primary. That is why we have Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton. That might seem overly cynical but I’ve lived long enough to see a giant change in the quality of people who inhabit this still (barely) great land of ours.
If we ever hope to make real change in this country and it’s close to being too late we need to first make a change in ourselves. So, that the next time out we don’t accept people like Trump or Clinton. That we first of all more people vote and they vote for someone who holds values above all. How does this come about?
Institutions that were once embraced by the populace are now mostly scorned. We removed God from school back in the 60’s, allowed babies to be killed legally in the 70’s calling it abortion. And we now have less people attending Church than ever before (percentage wise). I am not turning this into a God post, but along with that came what seems to me a higher moral calling. It was one more place to go to hear that it’s wrong to kill, steal, cheat on your spouse etc. What are all these people watching and listening to now? The latest in pop culture, twitter, Youtube and the latest sick movies to hit the scene.
Okay, I went off on a bit of a rant. And if Trump Is elected I don’t see him making one bit of difference in any of those things. I find him to be a fake, fraud and a big mouth bragger.
But still…
if Hillary Clinton is allowed to choose the next one or two Justices that pretty much changes things for the worse for, not four years, but closer to forty and by then I think it’s game over.
If we have any hope of coming back from this complete and total mess that we are in it all goes away if Hillary Clinton is elected to the Presidency.
It is then over.
If Clinton wins the world will continue to spin. If Trump wins the world will continue to spin. We survived 8 years of Obama and Clinton isn’t worse than Obama.
The sky will not fall.
I’m not a huge Dave Chapelle fan, but some years ago, he had a funny bit about a black man who preached white nationalism and was a member of the KKK. (The character was blind and didn’t realize he was actually black.)
