The Next President of the United States: IV

I prefer my candidates to be duly elected, prior to groveling and making apology tours.

edit Oh yeah the smiley thing ;7)

Funny how that hasn’t changed over the last 8 years…

That was a very good one on superficial grounds.

But if I may be a humorless pedant: you do realize that if he were expressing regret for something that were actually regretful, things would be different. What’s objectionable about this is the fact that his whole position on this matter is, like so much else he says, literally torn from a Kremlin agitprop coloring book.

… Because he is a Russian stooge and it isn’t even kinda questionable at this point.

It’s fascinating that Trump only ever seems to have a remote grasp of foreign policy when it lines up with Russian interests.

Oh…I see what you mean!

I thought that it was something more “mainstream” and legitimate (like the Russian Hacking).

From what I saw the “source” Raj came to this conclusion based on a headline. Which based the discovery on Ryan’s former chief of staff’s liberal wife and how she said something on Twitter about how bad the tape was. I stopped reading at that point.

It falls in line with everything being the establishment’s fault, and right now (according to alt-right thinking) Ryan is the face of the establishment. Under no circumstances could it possibly be that Ryan actually has principles and can’t defend somebody bragging about sexual assault.

For a more factual look at things, a quick google search found its an unnamed producer from access hollywood:

About the attempts by progressives to either change or mock Judaeo-Christian traditions, we’re going to see a lot more of this. If your faith isn’t “the right kind of faith”, meaning open and affirming to all behavior, then it’s seen as an excuse for bigotry. Period. If you aren’t performing gay marriages, then you hate gays goes the really effective strawman argument. Your faith needs to change so you’re less hateful. (Unless you happen to be Muslim, then you’re good and the left respects your traditional religious beliefs).

Think about this for a moment. Just look at Black Urban poverty. If a Black American gets married and stays married, poverty will drop into the single digits. You don’t have to vanquish racism. You just need people to not have kids before they get married, and then stay married. Think about how powerful that is.

This is the kind of thing a conservative Jewish kid learns, a Catholic or Evangelical kid learns from their parents and then they have it reinforced by their church. I’m paraphrasing Jason Riley here, but the black middle-class knows this and they teach it to their kids. Many of the black pastors know it and teach it. But we won’t hear it from these progressives who want to change your religion and mine. Black poverty is all about racism, and government programs are the solution!!

If Trump wins at least you can say he got in on his own merits following the Democratic process.

The same cannot be said for Hillary as we have conclusive evidence of vote rigging against Sanders.

Hate both mainstream candidates equally? Vote Trump for the sake of protecting the integrity of the voting process

Pedant away.
This election rates near the top of ignominious episodes for our entire history.

In a serious light, I wonder what is truly behind the thin veneer for Trump’s motivation.
Surely thousands are meeting, discussing, pondering this - on the off chance the populist vote sweeps him into office.

Russian puppet, Clinton Manchurian, agent of Satan, megalomania of Trump himself, a truly discouraged populace saying ‘I will try anything as my future is as good as dead anyway’, or dozens of other ideas I am probably not smart or knowledgeable enough to formulate.

Out for the rest of the afternoon.

Out of curiosity what do you guys find more troubling? Trumps perceived soft stance on Putin or Clinton taking $25M from the Saudis?

Ya, no…

It’s a tad bit more than a soft stance.

At this point, I am just hoping for an impeachement of Clinton in her first year as President.

Trumpism: the complicity of the pathetic in their own delusion.

About the mocking of Catholics and - “We created Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good’ to help change the Church…” Still getting my head around this. The Democratic Party thinks it’s their job to change the Catholic church.

I believe this is the thinking. “Little Sisters of the Poor and groups like them think they are going to use their religion as an excuse for not going along with our superior progressive morality? They want to get out of handing out birth control pills? They don’t like abortion? Watch us bend those nuns over. And we’ll do it all while selling the idea that those Catholics are so judgemental and intolerant.”

Repeat for every other issue that gets in the way of progressive values.

Update: they’re denying it:

We’ll see what happens. Maybe we’ll have to make do with the other 675,000 discrete pieces of evidence suggesting Trump is a Kremlin stooge.

extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Bits and pieces will not suffice for Trump = Russian plant

I didn’t use the word “plant.” Anyway:

There is an absolute mountain of evidence.

It is unprecedented in American history.

It’s been meticulously arrayed here.

You’ve never even tried to push back against it, and you would have failed if you had. It’s not clear that you even know enough about the world to understand the case against your candidate at this point.

I don’t have the effort to be surprised about her anti-Christian rhetoric, it’s not the first time she’s expressed her disdain for the Christian faith. She herself had said that she would not bow to religious pressures and it’s religion that needs to change and get in line with her policies.

I cannot get my head around how we got to this point and what that says about our country and society that these two are running for the highest seat in the land. In a country of 300 million, there has to be at least 100 million more qualified, less despicable people who could do that job better.
This is literally the most surreal election I have ever seen. Every part of it. From the media coverage to the huge seismic splits in both parties, to the buffoonery of both candidates, etc.

Just driving around this is the first election were almost nobody has a political sticker for either candidate on their cars. There are a few, I have seen about 5 cars total this entire election cycle with ‘Trump - Spence’ stickers. I have seen absolutely zero ‘Hillary-Paine’ stickers. I don’t even know what they look like. In 2012 I saw tons of cars with Romney or Obama stickers.

I only have seen one house with a ‘Trump - Spence’ sign out front. I saw zero Hillary signs so far. I may have just jinxed myself, but that’s what I observe in the corner of my world.

I don’t even consider them worth fighting about. When your choices are ‘terrible’ and ‘horrible’ why tear into each other over them. They aren’t worth it.

I think the best case scenario is that whoever wins, ends up having a heart-attack and dying on election night.

I don’t even know or can predict who is going to win. I know Hillary is ahead in the polls, but I am not sure how reliable those polls are. Most of them are phone polls, so the demographic are people who are willing to answer the phone when it’s somebody they do not know and are willing to participate in a survey.

I know a lot of people are sitting out, I have no idea what the turnout is going to be. I think we lose either way and either way it’s our own fault.

I read a story recently about a pro abortion group called “Catholics for choice.” It’s absurd and those emails shine a light on why more of these phony groups continue to pop up.

Edit: Hell just look at the progressives who claim to be Catholic. Tim Kaine has recently said he believes the church should begin to perform gay weddings. Nancy Pelosi, I don’t have to say more.

The anti-religious sentiment doesn’t surprise me either, Pat.

Hillary’s Christian faith is a very “progressive Methodism.” Insert every progressive social justice talking point and call it Christianity. Any religion that doesn’t embrace Dem talking points isn’t “open and affirming.” In other words, if you don’t have the religious convictions of a None, then you need someone like Hillary to show you how a real Christian acts and feels. Jesus said, “Love everyone.” In this new “approved form of religion” we love women by demanding the Catholic hospitals get in line and provide abortions, and force the nuns to handout BC pills. We love Black people by setting up social programs that will destroy their families, then making sure we all look to the Democrats for salvation from the misery. And we’ll blame the religious right for being the source of bigotry, but ignore the irreplaceable effect of functional families. Nobody wants to talk about how marriage effectively ends poverty for most people, even Black people. Religious tradition is all bad stuff, blinding us from this new, improved morality where we accept everything.

Sorry for the rant, but I just really hate to see this intolerance of religious belief. I really think there is room for us to accommodate each other. The latest push here in CA involves religious colleges being required to provide LGBT married housing. If they refuse on religious grounds, their students who receive federal aid would not be able to attend, effectively putting private religious schools out of business, or making them the domain of only wealthy kids, unless they happen to have a large endowment.

To everyone else - Sorry for the tangent.

@ bumper stickers and yard signs. Same here! There’s a nearly complete absence of bumper stickers or yard signs anywhere in my part of SoCal. Complete turn around from past elections. I can drive around and see NONE. I was saying this to smh, and he’s noticed the same thing in suburban NY. I’m seeing it a as a positive thing. People are embarrassed. They don’t really want to claim “Hillary or Trump really represents who I am.” At least that’s what I hope it means.
