The articles I included are from mildly to relatively liberal publications, not the conservative ones which say the same things will happen regarding Judicial branch.
They are the ones excited about the prospects of getting more Liberal Justices in order to further their desired agenda. In fact the last article shows how much more often the conservative Justices favor the liberal positions than the opposite. To paraphrase - when the Liberals block voted time and time again, a Leftist ruling was made, making the world a happier smiling place (my emphasis).
Tens (hundreds?) of millions that are to the right of neocons feel like the frog in the pot. We don’t think we are about to marched to the re-education camp or the lights are going out in 2 years, but we do feel like these steps are a spiritual slippery slope that translate to the decreased well being of the country.
Here is an article that concerns itself with Kaine and the Catholic church accepting homosexuality. As I read it, I was struck by how societal mores are changed in the same manner.
Bring the debt down to a reasonable level, eliminate so much of the wasted bullshit we spend money on, and lower taxes rates and I’ll gladly pay for maternity benefits.
It’s give and take. I want to pay less in taxes. The dems want maternity benefits. Okay, stop doing this shit:
I don’t have any problem with the GOP making a case for how people should vote. I think they should explain why (whatever they’re pushing) is the best option. I don’t think they should try and manipulate demographics to just get it done. I’m not a end justifies the means kind of guy.
The analogy doesn’t translate, but in all likelihood, the opposite would occur. He’d tell me to charge the hill at great personal peril and, realistically, I’d have no choice; except, to do it. There’s a very different dynamic at work, though.
Try and apply your own example to what we’re discussing. Who is the CO and who is the grunt in the fox hole?
My point is GOP who want to confront Dem are grunts, but their CO McConnel, Ryan, Boehner, et al are making deals with Dems and telling grunt to stand down.
If the majority of Republicans feel this way then they should replace said command. Boehner has been replaced. Ryan hasn’t had a whole lot of time to do anything. We’ll see.
Like I said, there are a handful of issues where you’re never going to find a middle ground. Like abortion for example. We could find a middle ground and probably save millions of lives, but we won’t.
For everything else, there’s a middle ground. I firmly believe most people live around the middle whether they admit or even realize it.
Speaking of propaganda mills, here’s the story of your candidate and his relationship with one of his most fervid and powerful backers:
I can already hear the official line echoing across our million miles of trade-war-ravaged rust and decline: what do we need to help the French and Germans for? Our borders have been closed for years; it doesn’t matter what’s happening over there!
The entire Vladimir Putin is manipulating US elections and supporting Trump is amusing. Hillary is pushing the Russia is the next great Satan so hard. It’s going to be rather hard for her to back away from it. she almost seems like she’s calling for war with Russia. All while she’s running ads trying to make Trump look like he would get us into war.
The evidence that it is happening is nestled right above your own post… It still shocks me that the party or Reagan is now dismissing the threat of Putin’s Russia.
My point exactly, it’s honestly very confusing that I now identify more closely with the current democratic platform regarding foreign policy than I do the GOP.
