The Next President of the United States: IV

The index fund argument is strictly 20/20 hindsight and a fantasy dreamed up by a Trump opponent.

First of all, there was no such thing early in his career.
Second, there are projections showing that his rate of return early on was higher than the market - making his getting into a fund unmerited.
Third - Trump is an entrepreneur. The same kind of personality that creates the businesses that make up these investment oportunities. Even Buffett works the companies in his portfolio.
Fourth - although his company is now basically branding, he has created many more buildings than the average guy. IOW actuaĺy constructed tangible products.

Born on third? Yes Still tried to cross home and score? In my opinion - Yes.

Do you contend that what I stated is not the case, or that a large contingent of Mexican officials and their general population are not involved in smuggling the heroin that is used in this country?

If so, I’d like to hear your explanation of how a great deal of the meth, heroine, and cocaine get into this country.

Trump is just the big orange tactless turd in the punchbowl to point out the obvious.

Never mistake snark and sarcasm for knowledge

Sheesh you just had to go and ruin my fun by making things serious it’s Friday night come on…

Trump didn’t point anything out, everyone knows the majority of hard narcotics flows up from Mexico. Trump just pointed out the obvious fact that he’s an ass hole willing to demonize an entire demographic for his political gain.

I’ll have to remember that the next time you quote Trump…sorry didn’t catch the sarcasm through your post

Sorry. Misread that.

But I did call him a big orange turd in the punchbowl!

Nailed it… I got to wonder wtf kind of punch you’re used to though…

Since we’re back to being serious though what the hell is up with this heroin “epidemic”? From what I remember if it wasn’t smoked or snorted it was just considered straight gross. I can’t imagine people lining up to shoot up, anyone I remember that got mixed up with that was already in about as low a place as you can get.

Hogwash. Execs are measured against market returns as SOP and have been for a long time.

Index funds have been around since the 1970s, so that’s wrong, but it’s beside the point - using an index fund is just a quick way to create a yardstick for market return. You could use the DJIA if you want.

The point is not that he should have “gotten into a fund” - the point is an an entrepreneur and an executive, he isn’t a rock star businessman. He’s average, and really, below average.

The problem is he has you - and a bunch of others - fooled with his branding. Trump gets a reality TV show that shows slow motion cuts of him wearing a red tie and a serious look in front of a helicopter (don’t forget the dramatic music), and he has people who don’t know any better thinking he’s some influential tycoon and America’s exemplar of business. It’s all sparkle and show, and to Trump’s credit, it has worked on many.

As for me, I’d rather not be a sucker.

I’ve said it before - the primary reason Trump is as rich as he is now is the fact that he started with riches to begin with. It wasn’t intelligence, gumption, or creativity - it was the fortune of being born rich. He’s grown his wealth, no question. But there isn’t a company in the world clamoring to hire Trump as CEO, and for good reason.

And @treco, I skipped discussing how Trump practices business, as it has been covered before, but the fact that his empire is built on trimming, scamming, abuse of power (see eminent domain and litigation tactics), and picking on the little guy is nothing for anyone to admire.

So you really want to lionize someone born on third who is trying to take home by running outside the baseline and trying to buy off the home plate umpire?

A slight aside, but an important one - when did appreciation of such sleaze become conservatism???

I think this simplifies the debate down to the basics…

I offer this as you are letting your dislike of Trump make your argument.
I will address some of your other bits later.

Are you referring to Kenneth Waltz’s “Why Iran should get the bomb” foreign affairs article that I posted for the sake of discussion a while back? I’m firmly on the Scott Sagan side of that debate.

And we have that shining light of integrity Hillary Clinton who not destroyed Subpoenaed documents. One can only imagine the talk that old Bill had with the attorney general on her jet. Did he threaten her? Did he promise her a job in Hillary’s administration? We will never know. All we know is that Hillary Clinton is the most corrupt person to ever run for the highest office in the land.

The above is from the evil right wing site Breitbart. If anyone wants to comment make sure that you comment on the site and not the actual facts put forth by the article…don’t disappoint me.

Yes, well aware of that. But, after his work was done as Governor Johnson became a drug dealer. Oh that’s right not PC to call it that. CEO of a marijuana company. Same thing in my book.

And well beyond that he built an international brand name. Was his father well known beyond the elite New York social circles? No.

It really is cheap as hell and easily available now. The whole game really did change when it started being produced and distributed from south America. Not trying to turn it into a brown people thing, but with NAFTA stimulating growth and transaction in border towns, and an entire economy already established around narco-trafficking, its like the flood gates have opened on that shit (and other drugs being produced at industrial rates and purity).

Yeah, been there and done that, as you have posted this before, and we supplied rebuttals. You reposting doesn’t change the rebuttals.

Trump: ‘This Will Be the Last Election that the Republicans Have a Chance of Winning’

Something the “true conservatives” will never get

Donald Trump: “I think it’s going to be the last election that the Republicans can win. If we don’t win this election, you’ll never see another Republican and you’ll have a whole different church structure. You’ll have a whole different Supreme Court structure.”

Whole different church structure? Whole different Supreme Court structure?

He’s a clown. And you’re a clown.

So wait–You were well aware of the fact that what was being discussed was Johnson’s growing a construction business but you purposefully chose to misdirect and misrepresent it with “Hey how difficult is it to grow a Marijuana business?”

Even though you KNEW, as you just said, the discussion was not referring to that?
