I’ve got to believe Oprah is kicking herself right now, watching Donald nearly cinch the Repub nomination and seeing the Dems as fractured as they are.
She’s much more likeable than Hillary and would easily capture both the female and Black vote…

Ok. As much as I disagree with his politics, I would be disappointed if Cruz allowed his ambition to corrode everything he professes to believe in. I don’t think his ego could subordinate itself to the likes of Trump.
Push:
What intrigues me most about your scenario is something that I’ve mentioned since the Primary process began…I saw Cruz and Ryan as truly being able to get something done.
As far as the Senate…while the VP “Presides” over it…the Constitution does designate him Tie-Breaker powers. Also…if Trump is smart…AND he does the thing that he says he will do (put smart people and advisers around him)…he will listen to solid ideas Ryan and Cruz have, especially as it relates to the Economy.
We’ll see.
I just see Clinton digging us into a deeper financial hole.
I don’t inherently “fear” Trump as President…
I fear a Trump who doesn’t listen to the people around him.
Trump is an existential threat to the GOP and the Republic. Anyone who denies that in the face of overwhelming evidence is a fool. Americans of every political stripe should be united in opposing such a uniquely unqualified candidate for the highest office in the land. That you continue to ignore him explicitly calling for war crimes to be committed is telling. Do you believe that the likes of Eisenhower, Ford, or Reagan would be silent regarding the egomaniacal Richie Rich? You’re wholly blinded by your hatred for the Democratic Party, or you’re a fool. I believe the former.
Trump is antithetical to American values, the keystones of our republic. He is an enemy of democracy, the liberal economic order, and American military preeminence. It isn’t enough to not endorse Trump. The GOP must explicitly and forcefully reject him.
I don’t see Cruz in the VP slot doing too much for Trump come November. Securing the primary nomination maybe though. Trumps biggest problem should he get though the primary will be convincing enough mainstream republicans that it is okay to vote for him, although mainstream republicans would generally be okay with voting for Cruz in the general as president by no means would he give them enough peace of mind to pull the lever with him under Trump. I just don’t see enough of what he would bring to the table voter wise. My guess is he will go with someone who has mainstream/moderate appeal to try and rally the rest of the GOP.
An ostensible conservative that won’t address a candidate’s anti-constitutional authoritarianism and explicit calls for war crimes simply because he is running for the GOP nomination. You’re a fool, Push. I expected more from you.
Take heed, lurkers and posters of PWI alike, as the ostensible arch conservative Push Harder dances around his decision to not actively condemn a candidate that has explicitly called for war crimes to be committed. It’s despicable, truly.
Honestly no idea, Kasich is the only one that maybe comes to mind but my gut says it would have to be someone “bigger” to at least divert attention away from Trump. My assumption if he’s playing it smart is that he will lay low going forward, try to mend with the establishment to tone down the never Trump backlash and push his VP pick into the spotlight to try and make the establishment wing feel like they’re voting for the VP.
Do you condone or condemn Trump’s explicit vows to order American forces to commit war crimes? Silence on the issue is complicity.
