The Next President of the United States: III

You are spot on with those comments Push. As you said one only needs to look at 08’ and 12’. But even more than that they can look back into history. Ronald Reagan became the “gravitational pull” in 80’ and even more so in 84’. Granted there are vast differences between the great Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump. Important differences … But even so there are similarities.

  1. Many back in the day said the Reagan was not intellectual enough and spoke in half sentences.

  2. They said that Reagan was dangerous and would get us into a nuclear war.

  3. They said the whole world would be laugh if we elected this wild cowboy who didn’t understand the nuances of the office.

  4. Reagan brought over many democrats to the republican party. The term “Reagan democrats” was coined.

  5. He brought people out of the woodwork who had never voted before.

And finally he trailed Jimmy Carter (1980) in most of the polls early on. (Why do I always caution people about early cross party polls?)

I know it infuriates the left wingers and the pseudo-intellectuals who frequent PWI. But, should Trump be the nominee he will in fact beat Hillary Clinton. I am not excited at the prospect of a “President Trump” please don’t misunderstand this post. But I am excited at the prospect of Hillary Clinton losing. And not just losing the Presidential race, but losing to Donald Trump Ha ha …that actually tickles me. It will drive the Clintons crazy for the rest of their lying cheating lives.

Cruz or Rubio won last night, depending on who you prefer. So Cruz won since Rubio is basically out.

Trump was bleh. He needs to freshen up his material. OK dude, we get it, you’re going to cut deals and you’re the master dealmaker. How about elaborating on a deal you want to do, or telling us how you would have done a deal that you thought was awful. Use some numbers, some names, an insight into your strategic thinking. I actually appreciate him calling out all the money we waste on crappy procurement but I need more substance at this point.

Rubio is kicking himself for not waiting 4/8 years. He looked good last night. Too bad it was too little too late. Serious potential but this campaign has tarnished his national profile and the lack of a solid fallback plan is going to make it hard to come back from. Should have waited to establish a legit record and also hone his political instincts. Why was he in such a rush?

I’ve crushed this guy, but believe it or not I actually think he is the most likable person out of all the candidates, including all of the dropouts (dems and reps). When he has his guard down he reveals a personality most people can relate to. I think most high profile politicians are freaks with severe personality disorders but Rubio strikes me as a normal human. That’s a huge plus for a modern President. But he really miscalculated and his political career is now in jeopardy depending on how FL turns out.

Kasich was Kasich. He’s missing something that would make him viable. He gets on the verge of being compelling but it’s just not his style. Great public servant but just not endearing enough to be President. I like him the most despite being somewhat stale. Like the Croat from a blue collar Midwestern family angle, along with the resume.

I don’t know if he wins but all he needs are PA, OH, and FL. Or replace FL with NY. Or replace OH or PA with two of NV, CO, and VA. Romney won zero swing states. Looking at all these reports of flipped democrats in swing states, white male rejection of Hillary in both parties, apathy of minority voters, and new voters – makes Trump a legit threat.

There are plenty of media people still thinking it’s a joke but the Machine is definitely aware of the threat and you can bet Hill is not going to take anything for granted. Trump is also losing some of his juice. He’s going to need to bring his A game to the general. What I saw last night would not beat Hillary IMO.

second this
go trump

I thought Trump’s performance like all of them was subpar. But at least when he is acting like Trump he is appealing to the common man. Last night he tried to debate on the terms of a real politician and got clobbered. But don’t be fooled he knows he’s in the lead and his immediate goal is to attract the establishment politicians who think he’s too fringe to get behind. So, he actually did what he had to do last night. When you see him against Hillary he’ll resort back to his oh so caustic self. And I wonder what Hillary will say when Trump brings up Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones and the many other women that she attacked for simply being victims of her predator husband Bill Clinton. It will remind a generation of people what they didn’t like about the Clintons and it will enlighten a whole new generation of younger women why they don’t want to vote for the nasty lying hag Hillary.

As for Trump winning New York I don’t see that happening. But if he chooses his VP wisely, perhaps Kasich, (who seems to be running for VP never a bad comment about Trump), he can certainly take Ohio. I see him being very strong in PA and other states. If this is played correctly he will win the Presidency.

You’ve convinced me. Seems obvious now. He has been playing up the let’s unite angle, and also fell in line with everyone else in a seemingly coordinated decision to tone down the incivility.

Like you, I think one of the biggest plot lines in the general will be the dirty laundry exposé. Bernie is passionate but he’s polite and not looking to tear her down except to call her out as a $hill. Trump won’t hold back, that much is clear.

Yeah, the guy with higher negatives than her own is going to “win it all…”

The Dems are going to DESTROY him in the general. Remember that debate before last, leading into Cruz picking up two wins? That’s just an appetizer compared to what the Democrats can and will do with him.

Yes, certainly you may very well be correct. But, try to put your intense hate for the man behind you and think more clearly.

Trump and Hillary both have high negatives it’s true. So who might win? How about the person willing enough to go out on a limb and trash his opposition thus driving up her negatives beyond his?

Granted, the press will be on Hillary’s side and that will help. But we then have Benghazi, the con game Clinton foundation. And lest we forget she might very well be the first person to run for President while under indictment.

Some people confuse intelligence with the ability to win high office. In a straight up IQ test of political knowledge Hillary would eat Trump’s lunch. I think we all know that here on T Nation PWI. But as we have seen in Presidential races in history the smartest, most knowledgeable candidate does not always win.

Who always wins? The person who can capture the hearts and minds of the masses. Reagan did it, Clinton did it (but needed help both times as Perot ran 3rd party. Clinton never received 50% of the total vote), Obama did it. And I really hate to break this to you Sloth what with you being a very thoughtful, intelligent individual…I believe Trump will do it as well.

Here’s why:

  1. He’s unafraid to attack Hillary where it hurts and remind the nation of how low the Clintons are. And we know in the current society that we live in people will eat that up.

  2. She’s been around and as you know people like the latest “thing”. Clinton as much as she tries to run away from it represents the past. She also represents the establishment in a year where people want the opposite.

  3. Trump supporters are fired up and will vote regardless of the weather or any other circumstance. Hillary’s support is soft and quite fragile. After all she is dropping states to a stoop shouldered old Socialist.

  4. Trump has and is daily stealing democrats who will cross party lines and vote for this new and exciting candidate.

  5. Trump attracts the old, the right, the left, the category called “Reagan democrats” and of course the uneducated, who by the way went with Obama twice.

  6. People are going to be voting for Trump who have never casted a vote in their entire lives. They are not exceptionally bright, But each vote counts doesn’t it?

  7. Hillary will be unable to even come close to the black turnout that Obama had and we both know that.

So, even with Chris Matthews hawking her daily what does that leave for her strongest constituency? Answer: the 23% of women who identify as feminists. Oh sure she’ll pick up the usual left wing loons, college Professors who claim Trump can’t put together a cohesive sentence (and they’re right). But that doesn’t matter in politics now does it? Especially in a time when the average person has a difficult time putting together a coherent sentence.

The democrats won’t even pile up the welfare recipients the way they did with Obama. These folks like Trump too…ah yes politics is strange isn’t it?

No, I don’t believe this is going to work out very well for Hillary Clinton. Even with the press sitting squarely on her lap she is going to go down to defeat.

Get used to it. I know you hate it and I’m not thrilled with the idea of a President Trump either my friend. But I honestly feel it is coming just like that nasty storm you know is coming by the barometric change and the wind blowing a certain way.

And just like that storm that is brewing there is nothing that you, I or anyone else can do about it. The masses in every form will turnout in droves to not just elect Donald Trump to the Presidency but to defeat someone who is not only unlikable but a confirmed liar, cheat and also may very well be under indictment or at least be recommended for such by FBI Director Comey.

I wanted this to be a great year for the republicans with someone like Rubio, Cruz or perhaps others. But destiny is knocking and Trump is answering the call.

Tough luck for you, me and the rest of us.

Sorry man…

I used to be sure of it too but a socialist Jew from Vermont is giving her a run for her money (please please don’t take that as anti-Semitic). She’s beating Bern on the back of the southern Black community and pledged delegates from the establishment which won’t help her much in the general. It’s hard for me to imagine but there’s lots of evidence he has a shot. He could very well flame out but until he does he’s a threat to Hillary. Don’t forget Hillary hasn’t faced any real heat yet aside from the Wall Street lackey portrayal from Bern.

It’s going to be very interesting to see what would happen in the general election with the traditional delegate lineup. I would be curious to see Trumps rating in the traditional swing states. I feel there also could be a bit of chaos in the traditional Red/Blue states. I get the feeling it could lead to a pretty uneven split between the delegate math and the popular vote.

Zeitgeist -nailed. Even if the reader does not agree with you that Trump wins.

Well done.

And Chris Matthews is the worst ever. When Cruz was doing the ‘Trump is not releasing his tax returns thing because there’s something to hide in there’, I actually heard Matthews compare him to McCarthy for making that inference. WTF? That is even more of a reach than the Hitler thing for Trump. MSNBC is essentially unwatcheable.

Brilliant “attack” from Cruz in the closing statement:
“What an incredible nation we have that the son of a bartender, and the son of a mailman, and the son of a dishwasher,” he began, referring to Sen. Marco Rubio, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and himself, “and a successful businessman can all stand on this stage competing, and asking for your support.”

Especially given that the media has commented on how some of Trump’s supporters appear to view him in an aspirational light…Really???

I’m sure it went right over the head of a good 80% of Trump’s supporters.

I agree with you on Rubio. Flirted with some man love there for a while, but Cruz is the better candidate. Rubio is 44 going on 45. Cruz is 45 going on a hundred and five…

Was it blind ambition, or was it a young ambitious guy letting his overly enthusiastic backers talk him into it? Who knows. I think he is a talented enough politician to come back from this though. It is impressive (to me anyway) that he admits to effing up during this campaign, and has not tried to spin it.

Typical Trump: why do I need 1237? -it’s just a number somebody plucked out of the air (paraphrasing here).

Uh, Trumpie old boy, 1237 is what is known as half of the available delegates plus one…in other words, a majority DUH.

Blind ambition, miss read the political climate for sure. Although I would be willing to bet that if Trump hadn’t entered the race Rubio would have already ran away with the nomination by now but who could have guessed all this Trumperey would have occured?

Everything that I have heard about Rubio is that he is extremely competitive. I think he’s been gunning for the presidency for a while and this is probably why he has such a poor voting record, most likely he has been spending his time climbing

You’ll have to forgive Donald on the account of him being a fucking moron.

Should it be a Hilary Trump matchups they will both destroy each other. Considering how much both candidates are despised it would no doubt make for the most entertaining elections ever…

What if it wasn’t due to Trump? What if it were to stop Trump? We know they switched, but we don’t know who they will vote for.

Really? Rubio would be running away with it? You mean M4rco?
