The media is not portraying that exacting qualifier, you speak of. Just last night, on Real Time with Bill Maher, he stated that ALL Mexicans are rapists according to Trump, when that is not what he said.
TB, your general assumption is not being reinforced by the media, not by a long shot. Look how bad the media is covering the Orlando shooting and pointing to a lack of gun control. How many mass shootings do we have a year ? Maybe 2 or 3 ? Yet we have over 300 million guns in circulation ? That is not a gun problem, that is an idealogical problem. A gun is inert until a person makes it active.
I no fucking Trumpkin first off, so put the smarm back in your pocket and save it for somebody who is actually voting for him.
And you know perfectly well that the vast majority of people are stupid…this should not even be part of the equation with relation to comments like this.
Also, every media outlet that reported Trumps comments, treated them as if he called every Pedro who crossed the Rio Grande a raving rape-machine.
Read my comments. I wasn’t talking about media all the time - I said the media acting here, with respect to Trump’s statements. And no, the media didn’t add that qualifier, and that’s my point - they don’t need to. Its understood.
Trumpkins are trying to argue semantics here. Obviously semantics ain’t their strong suit to begin with, but Trump’s crass generalization isn’t being disingenuously reported on this one.
First, I wasn’t referring to you (hence my reference to people who were making the actual defense of him, and I didn’t understand you to be). In any event, no need to be oversensitive.
Second, what you said the MSM got wrong, they got right - he was claiming the vast majority of Mexicans crossing the Rio Grande was a rapist. That’s Raj’s defense - the generalization was about immigrants.
Finally, no, in fact, Hell no, the vast majority of people are not stupid, and I’ve never believed that as a part of my politics, and disappointing you do.
Stupid, with regards to believing what the media (MSM/Social/internet) tells them. If you believe the majority of people are smart enough to think for themselves…independent of what they hear in a 24/7 news cycle, you must live in a different sort of place than most.
I mean our own congressman were introducing bills to halt production of AR-15’s because of Orlando…yet the weapon used was not an AR-15…despite what the media bombarded the news cycle with.
I am saying that if people are bombarded with incorrect information, then absolutely they will buy into it.
I am a natural cynic, and I certainly don’t think I am the only one…not even close. Unfortunately those who choose to question first and decide second, are very much in the minority.
Your persona on here has changed quite a bit over the last 5 years or so, it’s interesting to me that it appears to me much more snarky towards those who would dare to disagree with you. Aye?
Here’s another example of Trump’s comments being misrepresented.
This is the WaPo article that also lead to their press credentials being revoked:
title: Donald Trump seems to connect President Obama to Orlando shooting
Donald Trump seemed to repeatedly accuse President Obama on Monday of identifying with radicalized Muslims who have carried out terrorist attacks in the United States and being complicit in the mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando over the weekend, the worst the country has ever seen.
He did nothing of the sort, what he did was criticize the Obama administration for not enacting policies to keep Americans safe. This WaPo article is presenting Trumps comments as if he’s positing some crazy conspiracy theory that connects Obama to the Orlando shooting. “seemed to connect” - what utter fucking nonsense.
Feel free to watch Trump’s speech and go ahead and point out where he connects Obama to the terror attacks
BTW positive or negative media coverage does not measure truthfulness of said coverage.
No, people are not smart enough to think for themselves, the media does more than influence them in their voting decision. Vote against what the Borg wants, and you will be stigmatized to the point of needing to hide.
Case in point, people talk about Trump’s inexperience, something Obama got a pass on in 2008. The media ignores Trump’s DECADES of business experience over Obama’s 2 years in the Senate, when in fact it was always about making history in electing an African American to the Presidency.
Well, firstly I believe you’re wrong. First, its not just Trump. You only think that it’s JUST TRUMP because you are a supporter. You have any idea how many Republicans have had shit misreported about them by the MSM? Happens. All. The. Time.
Secondly, your skepticism should extend to reporting about ANYTHING and ANYBODY, not just things said about Trump. You are supposed to vet and verify things before you believe them–and not just things that attack your pet politician or beliefs.
Thirdly, the MSM misreporting, misrepresenting, or just plain misunderstanding things they report on isn’t unique to Republicans either.
I thought this statement by Aragon deserved repeating, because it needs to be emphasized.
Also…if we are going to continue to lament over the bias of the “MSLM”…you better start to be even MORE worried about the even MORE biased and inaccurate place where more and more people are getting their “news”…and that’s from the Internet.
Peoples views are being influenced more and more NOT by CBS or NBC…but by Bloggers, Vloggers, websites and whoever can scream and be the most obnoxious on YouTube.
Rest assured that in that World…the “MSLM” can learn a thing or two from the “NON-mainstream Conservative Media” about being vicious in their attacks; inconsistent; and extremely biased.
