There’s no air outside of the Martian atmosphere to fill that chute and probably not enough gravity at that distance to draw an object that size. Slight mistake he says. That’s an engineering disaster.
Perhaps it is a solar sail.
EUREKA!!! I must’ve missed that because the vehicle is pointed away from the planet AND the driver must be changing a fuse under the dash to fix it.

Here’s my quick list Chris. In no particular order except the first one is definitely number one.
Successful space exploration displays ever more clearly the glory of our God in His staggeringly mind numbing power and wisdom in His creation.
Leadership in space exploration is prestigious in the international arena and YES, that matters. Even militarily.
Our space program in particular has spawned technological innovations that make their way into your life that are too numerous to number. Including in the computer you are reading this on.
I wasn’t kidding when I said it was sooooo cool. Selfishly, I just LOVE science, astronomy, astrophysics and space exploration. I have no problem with pretty much whatever they spend as long as it keeps progressing. Yes, there are definitions required here.

Totally disagree.
Why?
If we can’t lead the world in space exploration what is so great about our country? We don’t even win the most metals in the Olympics anymore. It’s still less than 1% of our yearly defense budget.
I say well done to NASA & the US. Space exploration gives the minds of earthbound men room to soar and gives us a glimpse of what we could achieve if we could put petty bullshit aside. Nothing could be more necessary for morale in these trying time than this kind of thing.
I still believe the Moon landings were our peak as a species. Hope this leads to more.

My feeling is that in order to the Exploration of space to truly advance…we HAVE to go though and “Alien/Bladerunner” phase.
In other words, where it becomes first profitable to explore space.
Thoughts?

I agree, but we’re fairly far from that.
Lots of public cash has and will have to be spent before this point is reached, not only in the US but the rest of the more advanced countries, EU, China, India etc…
