Alisa, don’t be impressed by the figure skating – I gave up it a few years back due to risk of injury.
Mascherano, thanks for the encouragement.
CBear, that $10 will remain on the table. Uncollected. ![]()
Last night’s training wasn’t a barn-burner in terms of PRs, but I felt good about addressing some deadlift form issues, and did a full ROM Good Morning for the first time. Not every training can be stellar, but at least this one was solid.
Sumo Deadlifts
On risers:
65# 1 x 10 warmup
95# 1 x 5 warmup
115# 1 x 5 warmup
From floor:
135# 1 x 5
155# 2 x 3
135# 1 x 5
The form issue I am trying to address is tucking my butt under instead of sticking my butt out and getting a nice arch in my back. At 155#, this is still a struggle but I am seeing improvement. At the moment, I’m just seeking to add reps (good form ones) at 135# and 155# until I’m feeling more comfortable with the technique.
Bench
75# 1 x 7, 1 x 6
70# 1 x 7
Eh. I am working slowly to 3 sets of 10 at 75#. Snails pace slowly.
Good Mornings
Bar 3 x 10
These were notable because I did a full ROM, getting my torso parallel to the floor. Even with just the bar, these were challenging. I will add a tiny bit of weight next time.
Face Pulls with External Rotation
Done like this:
22.5kg 1 x 10
27.5kg 1 x 10
32.5kg 1 x 10
Trying to work on posture with these.
One armed DB Bent-Over Rows
50# 1 x 8 <–rep PR +2
Ran out of time to do more sets, but I’m still quite chuffed to be picking up a 50.
Decline sits
BW 1 x 20
Again, ran out of time to do more.
Today’s training: 40 minutes of cross-country ski skating, done interval style cause this is just so damn hard that I can only last about 3 minutes before needing a rest.
Now, off to make cheesy scalloped potatoes to bring to a holiday party. Weight this AM was 110lbs – about 1.5 lbs down. I need to eat calories and at this point I’m not picky what.
