The KimbaLog

Belini and MIM, thanks so much for the encouragement. Much appreciated.

CBear, I really appreciate the analysis and the arm compliments. I didn’t realize that the bar was in the wrong place on the fail. And, I just wasn’t feeling the pull-back yesterday even though I knew what needed to be done. No mind-muscle connection was going on.

The cue of throwing the hips forward to initiate the lift is a new one for me – very helpful.

I only have bruises on my right shin today. Had I been doing it right, there should have been more! Those yoga pants are definitely not armor against the bar.

hey kimba- i’d be beating a dead horse if i x6 what’s been said, so…i’ll say that that was a solid workout! you hit PR on your MP and dips AND you tried something new.

and thanks to your videos and cbear’s cues, you’ve helped me. no failure there!

u broke ur failed rep hymen!!! yay!

sucks on ur sleep… sleep is such a big part of the equation. hope it gets better.

Everybody fails a lift sometime. Your sumo form is better than my conventional form.

t, thanks for telling me that. I’m happy that my posting this helped you. We all learn from each other’s mistakes and triumphs.

Joe, thanks for the encouragement. I was indeed wondering whether my deadlift form was bad enuf to back off weights, but since nobody is warning me off, I’ll just keep working at these weights for now.

Can’t add anything new but I’ll concur with CBear and say your arms are looking pretty diesel there, girl.

Just wanted to add
Awesome! on the MP at 55 lbs. Keep it up!

If I ever wondered what a ton of rich food, wine and and hard liquor would do to my training, I found out today. (I celebrate my birthday over multiple days, you see)

And it wasn’t good.

It was the sort of day where no strength or rep records were set.

I worked as hard as I could, and didn’t give up when I wanted to.

Time to detox.

That is all.

Rest well, eat well, do something really different to reset your state of mind and then come back to the gym refreshed. The idea is to back off a bit to breath. You might be getting all wrapped in numbers - progress is not only a question of plates.

It is very good to know what affects your health and strength. You can add this to your list as a good training day, because you found that out, and because you still did your best.

Quite. Cut yourself a little slack - you trained hard despite everything. You can’t always set PBs in a session, but you can at least push yourself.
And happy birthday, by the way!

N, Spider and Cal, thanks for your encouragement (and birthday wishes!).

What I also learned is that I actually PREFER to eat clean. Although the sauced-up filet, creamed spinach, fancy desserts, Manhattans and such were tasty going down, the momentary enjoyment just didn’t outweigh the subsequent bodily malaise.

awwww sheeeeeit how come u didnt warn us about your bday? i couldve had a barage of inappropriate pics to post, dangity.

Happy b-day! What’s that, 27?

Happy belated B’Day, Kimba!

I visit Mark’s Daily Apple a lot, and I hear the same thing there - people do the primal (paleo-type) diet then have a treat meal and feel lousy - sometimes with stomach pains.
Still, I think you have to let yourself off the leash once in a while, or life would be very boring indeed.

happy belated birthday kimba!!!

i’m sorry you had such bodily malaise after your well-deserved indulgence. you’ll be over that soon enough, i’m sure.

i prefer clean eats too. but sometimes, for me, like last night, something terribly fattening needs to be eaten. pizza n one beer…(period here, too crampy to wrkout and work is driving me crazy) my body doesn’t feel as bad as my mind does thinking about all thos cals…

Oh yeah, my stomach wasn’t happy at all. I learned that perhaps one fancy meal would be OK, but three nights in a row = bad fucking idea.

Interesting. I wasn’t at all “guilty” feeling since I’m in the lucky position not to have a weight-loss goal. I’ll tell you what, though, it’s gonna be awhile before I want wine, liquor or rich food again!

I’m actually finally feeling normal-ish again, and I’m looking forward to my Friday night training tomorrow.

Happy belated b’day, Kimba!
