The Karate Kid Remake

Did anyone else laugh at the end when Jackie Chan had the chop stix out looking to catch a fly then hit it with a fly swatter? Come on now that was funny, not funny enough to drop $12 to go see it but still funny. One night if it comes on HBO I might watch it.

Jackie Chan beating up 10 year olds? Really? Is that what his career has come to?

fyi bow wow is an almost full grown man at this point. that’s will smith’s son jaden.

I wouldn’t call Karate kid to be a classic. It was a fun B movie that I enjoyed. Like Revenge of the Nerds, 16 Candles, Roadhouse, etc.

It’s not LOTR or Godfather or similar. That being said, I really cringe at the lack of ideas in film making, but I shrug my shoulders and figure this might be an okay way to spend two hours. di we really need Halloween remakes? Friday the 13th?

But my wife loves Rob Zombie so we saw Halloween. Okay, but not as scary as seeing it as a 15 year old kid. It just didn’t seem to have it.

The Hills Have Eyes was okay in my book, butt he second was crap. Of course the original second was crap al It happens.

I would rather have these kind of movies be some continuation as opposed to a remake. For example, this Karate Kid as said should be the Kung Fu kid. but at least it will be a similar story with some different circumstances. And who said they bought the rights for the name to cash in is right.

To me it would ahae been a bazillion times more annoying if they used the same location and same story with Cobra Kai etc.

That would actually be hilarious. A bunch of 45 year old overweight men, guts hanging over their black belts and still clad in sleeveless Gi, harassing a small black boy for some unknown reason. I might actually pay to see that.

Jet Li > Jackie Chan without a doubt. Children will love this but they need to change the name. I cant believe Jackie Chan didnt demand it.

Fuck this shit.

Why is this kid 10 years old? Im just gonna wait till this thing comes out on HBO, not spending a dime on it.

Come to Mississippi.

Should be a Karate Sr. Old guy gets bullied in a rest home and is taught by a mixed race single mother.

LOL!

(I know “LOL” gets thrown around a lot and has almost lost its meaning, but I literally did laugh out loud at that)

Ugh. NO. Just…no.

Why would you dig up a classic like the Karate Kid and “remake” it like this? (Of course we already know the answer to this)

First problem, as Big Boss mentioned…they’re in CHINA. Karate is Japanese. I guess they figured the average person going to see this would lump all “Orientals” together into one group.

Second, some key elements which made the Karate Kid what it is are clearly missing…

1.) Altercation over a battery-operated radio
2.) Dirtbikes!
3.) Mop-headed antagonists (often riding dirtbikes)
4.) Overzealous combat vet providing bad influence to mop-headed antagonists.
5.) Protagonist’s instructor’s drunken recollections about the 1940’s
6.) Any sort of of originality whatsoever.

I hope Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi) haunts the fuck out of anyone involved with this.[/quote]

Best post ever.

I stand corrected. It might be pretty funny that way.
