The Karate Kid Remake

At least they came up with a new sexual innuendo. The first Karate Kid had “wax off” and this one has “Jacket off.” Childish humor? Yes, but I was a kid when the first one came out.

Karate Kid 3 is the real diamond in the rough. Quicksilver is up there with Clarence Boddiker in terms of movie bad asses

Jackie Chan hasnt done a good flick since Drunken Master 2.

I’m not really looking forward to it, but I’m sure I’ll catch on cable in a couple of years too.

Karate is not Kung Fu or Wushu. This is absolutely retarded and insulting to call it the Karate Kid.

will smiths son right?

Srscat. Why not “Kung Fu Kid?” Or The New Karate Kid, and some Japanese or Okinawa scenery?

At least they didn’t try to get Jackie Chan to play a Japanese karate instructor.

I’d watch it… I like will smith and I’ll support his movie. Everything else is just technicalities…

Judging by the trailer, Jackie Chan has been reduced to beating up pre-teens…how the mighty have fallen. At least Miyagi beat on kids old enough to be a viable threat in sufficient numbers.

Well they already had the next karate kid with Hilary swank which imho wasnt a bad movie and I think it fit well with the plot of the other movies.

I liked the Karate kid… part 2 and 3 were ok but I love how he is always the under dog…even after winning championships etc…everyone can still kick his ass after a class at the Y.

I think this new one looks pretty lame… Jackie chan has been one of my favorite actors from movies like rush hour and drunken master but hes been suckin at the last couple like rush hour 3 …I think this will be another bust. The kid is super scrawny…black…and it all just looks poorly put together… more reasonable for 1970 when everyone was just like O.O Black people! (HAHAHA) instead of now when martial arts have been incorporated into any decent fighting movie.

I don’t see the fact that he is black as hurting this movie at all. Martial arts have never been ignored in the black community anyway. Wu Tang Clan isn’t called that for no reason. If anything, blacks have been largely ignored in movies like this as if skilled fighting is not within our means.

There are ton of things to point out as weaknesses before we start worrying about his skin color.

This is a little kid. They’ve already lost the audience that saw the first one with that alone and if they keep it on “kiddie level” this will be “Disney’s attempt at ass kickin’”…which none of us really want.

I think it’ll be more interesting see how successful the movie is then going to see the movie.

why does he have to be like 8 years old…why?

I mean it is not going to win an oscar…but it is one of those feel good movies. Remember it is a remake not an updated copy.

I wish someone would remake shitty movies!!

Yes I will prob watch it when it comes out on HBO!

I will wait until this comes to cable to watch it, I agree that it is too far from the original Karate Kid to call it a remake.

x2, If they wanted to call it Karare Kid, why have it based in China. Why not Japan where they
actually practice Karate?

Worst title for a movie since GI Jane. It made no sense in regard to the movie also.

I don’t really think Karate being from Japan is really going to make a difference. The problem I see with this is the age of the main character. As others have said, no one cares. Also, 3 Ninjas ftw, and Jackie Chan’s best movie was Jackie Chan’s First Strike, imho.

Fuck that Bullshit, sir. Fuck it right up it’s ass.

Jackie Chan’s “Who Am I” is the greatest of ALL TIME.

Fuck Jackie Chan…

Jet Li in “Once Upon A Time in China” smashes all.

So instead of “Paint the house, paint the fence, wax on wax off ,and sand the floor” it’s “Take your jacket off, hang it, take if off, put it on, take it off again”? I’m no expert in fighting but wtf does that translate to?

The chan and bow wow, wtf is this world coming to?..Oh and 3 ninjas ftw…
