The Impeachment Hearings

What is the justification for not having Bolton testify?

Seems like he wants to, outside of trump he probably has the most relevant testimony to give, and all indications are that it will be new evidence.

I know the cynical reasoning, but what is the official reasoning for blocking his testimony?

Trump is trying to use executive privilege to block him saying he has national security info. The real reason is he doesn’t want more facts to come out. Bolton has them along with the receipts.

Is this real life? I feel like this is the greatest troll job of all time. You’ve got this shit and Graham completely flipping how they view this shit. It’s unreal.

“For a guy who couldn’t get approved for the Ambassador to the U.N. years ago, couldn’t get approved for anything since, “begged” me for a non Senate approved job, which I gave him despite many saying “Don’t do it, sir,” takes the job…”

So is Trump saying he wasn’t qualified for the position but he gave him the job anyways? So stupid.

Two Republicans voted for witnesses, but might you conclude that, well, this thread is concluded? Nothing more going with this?

Yeah impeachment is pretty dead now. That being said, only crazy people were expecting Trump to be removed by a GOP majority. This was Mitch’s most obvious move. Just don’t allow evidence into the trial

The “conclusion” of this “trail” was baked in from the beginning…and anyone with half-a-brain knew that (at least I did…and I have about 1/4 of a brain…!)

I hope that moving on into the future, there will be enough strong, non-progressive/non-socialist DEMS left to call the GOP and Conservatives on their bullshit when they start throwing around words and terms like “protecting the Constitution”; “abuse of Power” or “morality/doing what is Right”.

They all bent over and gave Trump the lube.

I figured there were moments it had a running chance. I even recently thought that possibly a few more Republicans would take the dive, or is it that they are behind the scenes being heavily strong armed?

I’ll give Trump credit for this, @DeadKong

There is no “behind-the-scenes”…he tells them straight up; either on Twitter or at rallies…support me and all I do, or I WILL destroy you…

THAT is Power…

Wow I guess I missed this. Can you point me to where he’s said this?

I’m not into playing word games and semantics, @ntrojnky

Like any good Capo or family head; Trump is at least smart enough to not say these exact words publicly, and you know this as well as I do, However; he is very clear…and has been on more than one occasion… about the message to the GOP…“…support me and all I do…or I WILL destroy you…”

If you don’t think Trump sends a clear message to GOP members of Congress (or ex members of his Administration) to stay in line…then you can chalk up all that I have to say as crap…and I’m good with that.

One political writer said it best:

“Trump is on the verge of emerging from the trial with a tacit green light to defy Congress without fear of reprisal, and also safe in the knowledge that elected representatives will push only so far to find out whether he tells the truth to the public”.

“It will be harder for Trump to cast himself as a victim of the system after allies in the Senate said he overstepped the bounds of his authority…then used their power to bail him out of trouble”.

“The more he looks like he’s rigging the system… the less it looks rigged against him…”

(As it relates to my Capo/Family Head reference…)

Trump speaking of ousted Ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch:

“Get rid of her…Get her out tomorrow!. I don’t care!. Get her out tomorrow. Take her out. OK? Do it!”

John Gotti would be proud…

Out of curiosity… post impeachment trial, and when (if) Trump doesn’t completely fuck up the country, turn it into a dictatorship etc… Do you believe new laws will be passed regarding potential future impeachment trials (to avoid such a cover-up/sham of a trial occurring again)

Furthermore, do you believe Trump will up his ante (now that he knows he can get away with… literally anything)

I found it interesting that 51 percent of the populace wanted him REMOVED from office, yet senators won’t even vote for witnesses… Mitch Mcconnell was putting a LOT of pressure on republican senators to vote NO for witnesses (I think the man is a slimy, pathetic, corrupt piece of shit… particularly in relation to how he kills all bills that come in that go against his backwoods, incredibly conservative ideologies)… On Fox News one reporter exclaimed “any republican that votes against Trump will have his/her head on a spike”… doesn’t take a genius to see that what was happening behind closed doors probably coerced/shushed a lot of republican senators who probably did want to vote for witnesses… it’s pathetic how corrupt the government is under this individual (in before someone says “but the democrats are just as corrupt”… aside from Hillary… prove it… I don’t believe, aside from Nixon… another REPUBLICAN president… that any other government body has been as corrupt as the Trump administration…

More questions for you (you seem educated on this issue)

  • Do you think Trump will win the next term
  • What do you think the future of America would look like (economic, sociocultural demographics, gun rights, societal reform (cannabis legalisation etc) if Trump wins another term

One of Trumps many rape accuses has filed a court lawsuit against him, he is required to submit a DNA sample by March 3rd or something… I believe he will find a sketchy way out… in which case supporters shouldn’t say “he didn’t do it…” or “he shouldn’t have to provide the sample”… if he was innocent he’d provide the sample to clear his name… why would anyone who DIDN’T rape an individual refuse to provide a sample?

I’ll give you my brief thoughts, @unreal24278:

  1. In the foreseeable future; especially with Trump in office and a GOP senate; there will be no change in impeachment rules. I don’t even think that the DEMS will push much for a lot of changes.

  2. Trump is vindictive and petty…so yes…he will increase his vitriol and push the limits on what he can get away with.

  3. Trump will win a second term. What will America look like? Further divided, with Trump leading the charge.

I think Trump’s many legal issues will be more of a problem after he leaves office. The Southern District of New York is slowly and quietly gathering evidence concerning his many misdeeds (along with Giuliani’s). How much “cover” being an ex-President will afford him is unclear (at least to me).

I feel that no outside force will lead to Trump’s downfall. Ultimately he will prove to be his own worst enemy.

On a related topic:

Mitt Romney was just dis-invited to speak at CPAC after his support to call witnesses to the Impeachment hearings.

Power?

I REEEAAALLLLLY hope you’re wrong… if he wins a second term I’ll be incredibly upset… he was inaugurated on my birthday… practically ruined my 15th at the time…

The divide between America appears to be

  • blindfolded individuals frustrated with the way traditional governing was initiated… these people will support trump no matter what, he could be charged and found guilty of rape… but no… it’s “fake news, a witch hunt”
  • People who don’t like him

I’m not going to say I hate EVERYTHING he’s done (only 99.9% of his policies fill me with rage)… I like the notion of claiming Jerusalem to be Israel’s capitol, distancing the US from the UN due to a vehermont and overpoweringly present sense of anti semitism… but I’m not going to support him solely because he is good for Jewish people (in jewish)… if Bernie comes in, is all for societal reform, higher wealth tax, gun control etc and proposes a two state solution (regarding Israel/Palestine conflict) then fine… even if he isn’t particularly “pro Israel”… to me, there are issues I deem equally important (environmental policy, societal reform etc)

And even then, if trump does something, I’ll bet my bottom dollar it isn’t for the benefit of the Jewish populace, I’ll bet there’s something in it for him

Nothing says we did nothing wrong like refusing to have witnesses in a trial.

I hope should I ever find myself a defendant in a criminal trial that a similar lack of desire for the truth is sought.

Trump…and anyone who follows Politics even a little; knows that Trump’s path to victory is quite simple; fire up his base and keep them fired up. Anyone, or anything else is just icing on the cake.

To that end, Trump does it like an experienced Ringmaster.

Trump is a lot of things…but dumb isn’t one of them.

If you should find yourself in a criminal trial you should hope it’s because there was already evidence against you, not trying to find it during the trial.

Everyone keeps saying how much evidence they had against Trump. If so why do they need witnesses now? Shouldn’t they have all the proof they need or did they impeach him with no facts and need to find some evidence now?
I’m asking sincerely, I don’t understand the logic being this.

His base is not enough. The key is for Democrats to capture the voters who voted for Obama but were repulsed by Hillary.

And Warren hasn’t learned from Hillary’s loss. Hillary, for whatever stupid reason that shitty person has in her head, has attacked Bernie which shows that she still is not someone who knows how to unite people (the deplorable comment was another example). Warren is playing the same game by saying that Bernie said a woman could never become president. It’s more petty bullshit that turns people off.
