I hear it a lot, and it’s just another stereotype based on nothing but prejudice of an entire group, be it their looks, religion or thought to trash a party’s image. I know plenty of conservatives who are not old or white. It’s also part of the opposition 'demonization" strategy to paint a party in one single color or creed, which the roots of your statement are from.
Yes it’s prejudice like saying democrats have consistently gotten the young black vote in recent elections. Right?
No, it’s fact. Saying that the GOP comedy was something that old white people would probably like was not either right? If I were to say…'That dinner was something that a bunch of young blacks would like" would be more appropriate of an analogy comparing what you said.

Bridges is awesome. I think he was also the guy who played Bush in Harrold and Kumar EFGB. I have a pic with him from 2005 when he did Bush at a software conference.
I don’t agree with the equivalency of the dinner example. The point is that the people running the show for these types of events should be getting input from others who are unencumbered by the groupthink that happens when you’re around a bunch of the same people all the time. Maybe before a decision like this you get some outside opinions of how this might go over and they can let you know it’s a bad idea before you’re knee deep in it. His act couldn’t have been a surprise as he’s dont a similar one in the past. He’s also appeared on Fox news multiple times to act as Obama during mock “debates”. This is just unbelievable:

Like I was saying before, it’s just sort of a running theme of self-imposed image problems. They can do a decent job of providing legitimate fodder for the “MSLM”. They’re setting up their own hurdles for the election. It seems like they just gotta get someone with some PR deftness to steer the ship. I mean I certainly don’t identify as a republican, but when you only have two major parties and one can’t quit tripping over their own shoelaces it doesn’t do the system as a whole any good. Someone also needs to talk to Romney about how to have normal human interactions.

Laugh at racial jokes like its nothing, but when he starts insulting your candidates pull him off stage LOL.

Well he came out and said he was pulled because of the time.

Please read the context in which it was used. Stop with the boiler plate responses. While I don’t deny the sentiment of your statement, he is not spot on in this instance. Why the inability to deal with valid criticism? If you think that hiring that guy was all good and well and it played well with the audience the GOP would “LIKE” to have (not the one they already have) then you clearly see things in an absolutely different light than I do. It’s not that old white people are bad, it’s just that they are the bread and butter for the GOP and there’s not a lot of point in them being content with that and hiring a guy to tell some race based jokes at a party meeting. Keep up the good work, good luck in 2012.

You are assuming the barometer measuring racism is equal among both parties, and everyone here knows that it’s not.

When the GOP can joke about “Obama money coming from his stash” and that is measured equally against Democratic jokes about old white crackers, then we can talk about who is uptight and who is not.

The bottom line here, is that Dems can get away with jokes against the old white GOP as racist, inbred, NASCAR loving, tooth missing, robe wearing, rednecks because everyone owes the minorities.

I am shocked that Dems hate religion, because they sure like to carry a big wooden cross around with them, so that every time they feel unappreciated for their sacrifices, they can climb on up and nail themselves to it.

Good lord. If you can’t see the significance of this guy being hired by republicans and performing at the RLC then I don’t know what to tell you. If the democrats hired people to tell whatever jokes you think they’re telling then it would be just as bad. Quit the hyper partisan bullshit for a minute. Did I ever say I was offended by the shit? Fuck man what point are you trying to make other than just vomiting talking points and rebuttals to some non-existant argument.

Edit: And for fucks sake yes please bring religion into this and do so by making a retarded blanket statement.

No it wouldn’t be just as bad, the Dems get a pass, and EVERYONE HERE KNOWS IT. Stop living under a rock. Should it be just as bad? Yes. But is it in reality? Nope.

For fucks sake, call it like it is, not how it should be.

So the equivalency for a theoretical pass on a hypothetical event is for republicans to get a pass on an actual one? My original point was that the GOP doesn’t understand the image problem they have and therefore they do dumb stuff like this and reinforce it. I mean shit it’s no secret that they’re nto held in the brightest light by a lot of minority groups and this guy was their choice for entertainment. Doesn’t make any sense. I’m not sure how this turned into a “whatever, democrats have done dumb things in the past and therefore aren’t allowed to criticize anything republicans ever do and if they do then it’s because they’re hateful and and not to be tolerated” type of discussion.

I think the GOP has taken the position that no matter what they do (end slavery and grant amnesty), that they will always be looked at as racists, so why not have fun with such accusations?

Is that your serious opinion? And weren’t democrats considered the racists 60+ years ago? So I doubt it won’t switch again at some point. But if that’s really their attitude then I guess you’ve got to respect that candor.

My POV is not that Dems have done X wrong so they deserve Y criticism. My point was that the assault of criticism between both parties for similar things is not equal.

If I use the N-word and Bill Maher uses the N-word, are you saying that we will both be scrutinized equally ? Are you kidding ?

LBJ (a Democrat) made the comment about “I will be having those niggers voting Democratic for 200 years” and no one screamed racism. If GW Bush said that back in 2000 or 2004, do you really think no one would be screaming racism ?

So in a way, I can’t say that I blame the GOP for their lack of interest on what minority groups really think.

If Bush made a comment about a black cop harassing a white Harvard professor, would he have been enacting the same social justice that Obama was seen doing when he criticized the stupid white cop harassing the black Harvard professor ?

Sioux, the GOP is never going to get a fair evaluation because the media has portrayed them as old white devils who are the cause of all things evil in the world. Fuck it, so be it. I can keep it real, and I really don’t care who gets offended as that is their problem not mine.
