The Golden Days of Hip Hop

Shit everybody slings crack in that area. I could take you into my neighborhood and show you three houses on the same block you could score rock from. It’s not even really that big of a deal, seeing as how it’s not at all uncommon to make money that way, when compared to the shit they were talkin’ about, murder and everything.

That’s thing. Eazy-E would “stop” those other guys from slanging on “his” turf b/c they would be taking money away from his business.

If the guys in your area were smart they would take out the competition to make more money. It’s not a good practice to have 3 guys on the same block sellin’.
You gotta take the other two out.

But then you risk going to jail. While your crew can hold you down financially while your locked up, without you they may not enough muscle to hold up the next 3 houses that decide to start slingin.

Well Eazy-E didn’t get caught.
There are a ton of unsolved murders when they find people’s bodies dumped in remote parts of a city.
Not everyone that commits a crime is caught and prosecuted.

The word crunk originated in Houston. Kids were saying that here as early as '93. You can’t blame Master P for the downfall of rap/hip-hop. He definitely focused on quantity over quality, but some of his shit is disgusting. Go bump 'burbans nad 'lacs and try to tell me the hairs on the back of your necks ain’t standing. There are some seriously talented artists out there That not many people here about.

Sage Francis, Last Emperor, Wordsworth, Point Blank… There are literally hundreds [if not thousands] of dope mc’s out there, and what they say has a message. But a message doesn’t get your song on the radio or the benz in your driveway. Saying the same thing [which, ironiclly is nothing] as everyone else does.

Any way, the golden age of hip-hop was the early 90’s. It was still fresh, there was a “magic” in the air and you could tell something big was gonna happen. The problem is it got too big and now anyone who can put two words together thinks he’s got a shot. “Too many candy rappers wanna be at the top, too much candy is no good so now I’m closing up shop.”-Phife

Risk going to jail?

If you are in the drug business this is a reality you face. Drug wars between rival drug gangs/dealers happen because of money. This is why people start selling in the first place.

And do you honestly think if a dealer moves up in the game to the point they are movin a lotta weight, THEM going to jail is going to be a big loss of muscle??? First, most of the “bosses” will get less involved with petty shit like servin people, pickin up packages, and killing/jumping other drug gangs. When you are a boss, you have a lotta money, and a lot to lose by getting popped. If you are a boss, the cops will know about you, and it is you they are after. So this is why they will avoid talking on the phone, handling drugs, etc. so as not to catch a case.

And any established gang will not suffer much from one dude gettin shot or locked up. So gangs aren’t gonna worry much about losin dudes when it comes to beefin with a rival crew.

However, most gangs would be smart to work together instead of killing each other. The murder and violence is what brings so much heat on them from the cops. Cops cant really look the other way when innocent people get hit in drive bys or when dead bodies are bein found. If there was no violence in the drug game, dealers could pay off cops and get away with a lot more.

That was a fatass tangent.

But anyways, to the dude who said Snoop is EASILY the smoothest rapper EVER: C’mon, while music is an art and largely based on personal opinion, that statement is just wrong.

And people, please stop starting threads about rap on this site or any for that matter. All it does is bring the haters out.
