The Future Of Our World

Nothing but sunshine and rainbows…Horay!!!

The other interesting thing is that after tens of billions of years, the cosmological constant (or vacuum energy, dark energy, repulsive force, etc) will dominate the evolution of the universe, and it will begin to expand faster and faster. As a consequence, we will stop seeing more galaxies appear on the horizon (which is what you would expect in a mass-dominated universe), and the distant galaxies that we do see will appear to slow down in their evolution as cosmological time dilation effects take place.

In other words, the light emitted by distant galaxies beyond the horizon will never reach us because the universe is expanding too fast. And the light from the galaxies within the horizon will begin to take longer and longer to get to us, rendering it impossible to see their evolution.

The Milky Way-Andromeda system will likely virialize into a giant elliptical galaxy with little star formation, your typical red-and-dead early type galaxy.

But hopefully, long before that point, we will be hyper-intelligent beings with the ability to harness the vast amount of energy available in the universe. Or maybe we’ll wipe ourselves out over religious bullshit. Guess we gotta wait and see.

I’m gonna have to go with wiped out over religious bullshit theory.

Agreed.

Hopefully though, I’ll be dead by then.

Well, more and more people are becoming atheist nowadays, eventually all that will be left are the extremist types, who’ll cause nuthin but trouble, I think there’s a high probability this could happen in our lifetime, or mine at least

I CAN’T WAIT!!!

Unfortunately, I think you’re right.
