Or reduce costs by adopting a single-payer system.
You do know @ActivitiesGuy is a Dem leaning healthcare researcher yes? Probably the MOST qualified to comment on this matter on the whole damn board. I really should stop responding to you. At least the other trolls show some degree of sentience.
Would the government be stealing money from others if someone in your family needed healthcare?
Well said.
Obamacare is not Universal. The costs of Medicare(government healthcare)do not rise as much as so-called “free market” healthcare.
When you are forced to dodge all the evidence to keep your political beliefs alive, it is truly embarrassing.
Zep (and everyone whom has posted on this thread):
Over 40-plus pages, I doubt that there is little I can add, except an observation from an expert who struggled with Health Care over the course of the Obama Administration.
The essense of what he said was that you “can’t have it both ways”.
Even if you somehow accept that the American Healthcare System is a “Free Market” system (which is really a stretch)….AND If you choose to NOT have the price controls, access limits, drug-cost limits, limits on “experimental” therapies and restrictions on end-of-Life/Delaying Death Care (Palin’s “Death Panels”)…then you sure as hell better be prepared to put Billions of dollars into the system.
“Free Market”/“Unlimited Access”/Unlimitied Expectations = High Cost
Yes.
We do not yet have socialism in the US…we are getting there but not yet.
What we all need to do is ask ourselves one question: How did America become the great country that it is? It was not through Socialism.
Those evil capitalists! They’ve gone and made food that tastes good and is super-cheap.
Of course, you don’t have these problems in Venezuela, where most of the major policies advocated by the left have been successfully implemented. Cheap delicious food is notably absent from that particular marketplace. Chalk one up for the socialists!
The Democrats are merely the other side of the coin of the duopoly that is controlled by corporations and do their bidding not the publics.
And a Universal system would save even more with better overall outcomes.
Here’s an idea why don’t we each take care of our own needs and the needs of our family members?
Pelosi and Schumer are not the far left. They are corporate democrats who represent those interests.
To say that Obama is far left is laughable and just goes to show the deep level of propaganda people believe. How many people from his economic team were from Wall Street or the big banks?
Ummm… You realize I’m talking about you, right? Oh wait, I forgot who I was speaking to. Nevermind… ![]()
Smuckers makes delicious natural peanut butter. I eat the whole jar in a day. I’m a fatty. I must sue smuckers! Personal responsibility, Google it.
So you don’t trust the government and you assume that they’re bought off to keep natural remedies off the market to keep people sick. Yet you want the government to run healthcare 100%?
AARP is spreading propaganda. They lost alot of members for supporting O Care.
Canadians are polite. They don’t mind wait times. Unless they’re dying:
I didn’t think I would have to post it again. To be this enlightened Businessman, Zeb…you seem to have little grasp of the actual cost of Healthcare…just what you have to pay.
We Live under a system of shared risk…
I’ll say it again…
Let’s hope that you nor none of your family ends up splattered across a Highway due to an accident…and that you or your Loved ones require months of Intensive Care and Rehab, Zeb.
The Premiums you pay; regardless as to how “high” you think they are; wouldn’t cover the cost of the Helicopter Flight.
And you seem to have little grasp on what the alternatives are. I pointed them out to you but you didn’t even consider any of it. Like your liberal brethren you are hot for government to take it all over.
Honestly, you and your fellow lefties better wake up before you lose what freedoms you still have. Putting government in charge of health care is the stupidest thing that you could possibly champion. If you think Canada has it so good I suggest that you do some reading (as per my earlier advice) about the Canadian health care system. And about how many Canadians travel to the US because they don’t like…THE WAIT.
There are better answers available than the US government controlling our health care system. It was a bad idea when Obama did it and it’s still a bad idea.
Edit: You can begin by reading Basement_Gainz link.
Hopefully I can put this in a more civil way then @zeb1. There are ways to accomplish risk pools without government. There’s even ways to have a risk pool with no middleman (insurance) at all. Direct payment with Doctors is starting to be a real thing. You pay a fixed fee per month and your meds are pennies on the dollar because they negotiate with drug companies.
I’m sure it’s not perfect yet, but I’d rather write a check to a cooperative of 500 doctors than to Aetna or the government.

“…Like your liberal brethren you are hot for government to take it all over…”
[/quote]…
There you go; (as you often do); of making Straw-man Arguments based on things I neither said nor believe.
I don’t wish for Government to take over Healthcare.
Let me say it again JUST for Zeb….I don’t wish for Government to take over Healthcare.
But thinking that having Bake Sales and Church Socials to “take care of you own” will do it is beyond naive…
I tell you what, Zeb. I’ll wait and see what your “Repeal and Replace/I didn’t think it was so Hard” Senate and President come up with. Let’s see if meets your criteria.
Maybe you can bring some Potato Salad to the photo-op when it’s unveiled.
