Even if you somehow accept that the American Healthcare System is a “Free Market” system (which is really a stretch)….AND If you choose to NOT have the price controls, access limits, drug-cost limits, limits on “experimental” therapies and restrictions on end-of-Life/Delaying Death Care (Palin’s “Death Panels”)…then you sure as hell better be prepared to put Billions of dollars into the system.

We do not yet have socialism in the US…we are getting there but not yet.
What we all need to do is ask ourselves one question: How did America become the great country that it is? It was not through Socialism.

Of course, you don’t have these problems in Venezuela, where most of the major policies advocated by the left have been successfully implemented. Cheap delicious food is notably absent from that particular marketplace. Chalk one up for the socialists!

Honestly, you and your fellow lefties better wake up before you lose what freedoms you still have. Putting government in charge of health care is the stupidest thing that you could possibly champion. If you think Canada has it so good I suggest that you do some reading (as per my earlier advice) about the Canadian health care system. And about how many Canadians travel to the US because they don’t like…THE WAIT.
There are better answers available than the US government controlling our health care system. It was a bad idea when Obama did it and it’s still a bad idea.

Hopefully I can put this in a more civil way then @zeb1. There are ways to accomplish risk pools without government. There’s even ways to have a risk pool with no middleman (insurance) at all. Direct payment with Doctors is starting to be a real thing. You pay a fixed fee per month and your meds are pennies on the dollar because they negotiate with drug companies.
I’m sure it’s not perfect yet, but I’d rather write a check to a cooperative of 500 doctors than to Aetna or the government.
