If you find yourself taking 4 days off a week because you don’t feel like it, assess your motivation and dedication to your goals. If you take one or two days off a week because you don’t feel like it, you’re a functional human being with a body requiring rest and recovery time.
I confess that I “pre-game” before I go out to eat with company so that people will stop commenting on how much food I eat along with how quickly I eat it.
Which could very well be how those rumors about how I don’t eat very much got started.
I find that pregaming does nothing for me when presented with meat ![]()
It at least allows me to be at peace with not eating ALL the meat at the meal. I’ve been treating myself to a 16oz ribeye these past 3 Fridays as we’ve ended up at the same steakhouse for various reasons, but with company, I can begrudgingly be at peace with an 8oz.
And then I stop and think about how an 8oz is technically 2 servings of meat and I just can’t even understand reality.
Also, I went to Europe for 12 days, then hosted 9 people the day following my return. Have you been to Belgium, where they only eat gravy and french fries?
Also, have you ever met this stuff?

We consumed like four tubs of it in three days… After a week on the straight and narrow, the couple of pounds I put on over the course of the bacchanalia are gone.
Live!
You have not experienced a Chinese family style celebration with 6+ meat dishes then ![]()
I experienced the dumpling house in…Beijing? I think. It was a whirlwind trip. And then eventually ended up in Shanghai were you could get KFC meals for $2 American and ordered 7 of them because I missed my home country.
I have the same feelings of distorted reality. And I’m not a massive strongman bodybuilder! None of it makes sense. I’m supposed to eat a piece of chicken the size of a deck of cards? SERIOUSLY? I can’t even do that for lunch when I’m hardcore dieting! And I’m not just emotionally hungry, my stomach starts screaming with hunger - everyone in the room can hear it, it’s like an outraged toddler.
My favorite meal in Belgium was a “meat place” (as described by my husband’s local coworker). They gave you a potato or fries and a shared dish of veggies, then walked around slicing pieces of meat off haunches or pushing pieces of salmon/chicken/whatever off skewers. SO GOOD!
So it was me and two men and I was the last one to say “enough,” and even then did it more out of politeness than anything else. My husband is aware, but his colleague…
That’s me every time ![]()
I had to look it up, if you ever go to Belgium it’s Pampas (“all you can eat meat and fish!”) and it was sublime.
My body has decided to go on strike and my knees are leading the movement. Nothing wants to move. Seriously considering going back to bed, but…must…not…give…into…ungrateful rebellious workers ![]()
Have a day off. Eat a few burgers. You’ll be fine.
Yeah, I’ll probably take the day off (without burgers though
)
I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t being a lazy pussy
I have not, but I experienced a Chinese buffet this week. Americans must have altered Chinese food. There is no way Chinese people can eat that stuff daily and stay small.
Definitely- processed foods and increase in dining out are creating a huge obesity problem in Asia
Wait I’m not sure I understand. Do you guys always order a pizza at a restaurant and then only eat part of it?
I could never imagine ordering a pizza and not eating the whole thing.
I was also baffled by this concept.
I confess that, while we await to hear back from the seller of a house my GF and I just put an offer in, all I can think about is how I’m going to be able to make overhead pressing work in the basement with the lowest ceilings I’ll have had to date.
You gotta figure all obesity problems are huge…
I can totally relate! When my parents were considering apartments, Proximity to a gym was probably at least the second most important factor!
