I’ve been looking at some of his programs. I’ve got probably 7 of his programs. They look fun
Damn, glad that stone didn’t fall on you. Kudos for that other guy that went behind your back to spot you in case something happened
Yeah, I was actually passing out during the load rather than after, and was just doing everything in my power to keep the stone from falling on me.
And always nice to be the cause of policy changes, haha.
I feel like a good majority of it is how you breathe. Or exhale for that matter.
Some of the guys in that video passed out from yelling once they hit the top of the lift, so that might be one reason.
Once upon a time when I was trying to hit 405 on squatting, I passed out from just holding my breathe throughout the entire lift. I filled up with air, and just kept that same breathe. I hit the bottom, and started to move back up to lock out position and just passed out. Thank goodness for the safety bars though.
If I had to take a scienc-y medical guess, I suppose holding your breathe for some period of time slows the heart rate? I’m doing so, I guess that brings about a response for your body to just pass out?
Speeds it up.
My sciency guess is a reciprocal drop in response to the rise in blood pressure.
When it drops too low too fast the blood literally falls out of your head. When those guys release their intra-abdominal pressure, it all drops. They take a few steps, then clunk!
This happens to me from time to time due to BP meds just from “regular” lifting.
Lol elaborate
Prior to my near blackout, there were no spotters in place. After me, everyone got one.
RPE? More like RIP
So, my dad has always been known in the family for being a master of wasting money.
Apparently, he’s about to strike again. Keep in mind, he always rants that has no money by the end of the month and that his finances are constantly drained by the mortgage, bills, and all the other expenses.
Our bank has been doing a promotion and will give him a € 150 Amazon code. That’s great news! Or so I thought. You can buy lots of useful stuff with that money.
Until I talked to him and he told me that he’s planning on buying a € 350 clothes dryer.
Now, we’ve never had one. We’ve never needed one. We don’t need one. No one’s gonna benefit from that. But his fiancé has one and told him it’s great and super handy, so it must be right? Because “it gets clothes dry in half an hour instead of having to wait three days.” Oh yeah, that’s what you call an essential.
Not only is he gonna waste the whole Amazon coupon, he’s gonna have to add € 200 of his own on top of it.
I tried to talk him out of that saying that I think we don’t need it and that maybe our money would be best spent (or saved) elsewhere. His answer? “Your new laptop you bought last month wasn’t strictly necessary either, you could have fixed your old one.” I need to mention that I bought that new laptop for university, with my own savings (I didn’t ask him for any extra money), and it’s obviously proving crucially useful for basically anything I do in school. The old one I have is 8 years old and doesn’t have a functioning battery.
Whenever I argue with him I feel as if I’m trying to argue with a child. I guess, like the saying goes, “a fool and his money were never meant to be together to begin with…”
Y’all don’t use dryers? What about washers?
Yes we do use washers
Maybe worry about your own finances and move out.
Sure, that’s the plan once I finish university and get a job (then I will have “my own” finances to worry about)
And worry you will! The sooner you start saving, even if it seems minimal now, will help you more then you know down the road. If you can save 15% of everything you earn going forward you will be way ahead of the curve!
I’m Gonna side with your dad
I’d hate to go without a dryer. But I have 2 kids and go through two sets of clothes a day so, more than your average laundry.
If you save 15% of what other people earn, you will do even better. But then you gotta be good with computers.
Or a gun.
Maybe @anna_5588 has a nifty hack for this?!
unfortunately, if the expense isn’t part of the school’s overpriced meal plan, I have no hacks

In Shanghai, we basically went without one. My dad spent (wasted) over 5000RMB on a brand name dryer that literally doesn’t dry as well as the “crappy” one in my dorm building… The thing took over 90min/load and the towels always needed to be hung out to actually dry ![]()
You aren’t only arguing with him. He probably gives zero fucks about anything.
You’re arguing with the chick that’s blowing him Through him.
That makes it 3 against 1 and you’re going to lose every time.
Did you clean out the lint catch/filter every load or two?
