The Flame-Free Confession Thread II

I stopped doing business with Elitefts years ago because their sales and customer service team are a total joke. Sucks that happened to you though.

I’ve seen you say that a few times. Any places other than them you’d recommend getting a Prowler from? A quick google search would answer that but I’m hoping for a reputable company, if I decide to bite the bullet and get one.

They are manufactured by “Williams Strength”. If you search for them, you may find other distributors.

after literally being told to contact customer service in the morning, i realized that drilling a hole in the belt was easier than dealing with the hassle of their customer service (or lack of it). it now fits great, and it’s just about the best belt i’ve ever owned. super stiff, but still not too stiff to brace with.

you were right about 13 vs 10 mm belts. the Rogue 10 mm i own now feels like a plaything. PRs shall fall.

It’s a drunk staple

Three years ago or so my husband and I did a major renovation/addition to our house. We did the work ourselves, because my husband is handy that way. Anyway, so among other things we added a master bath, and in doing had to choose bathroom fixtures. One of these was a shower stall, and when we went in to pick one out our bath and kitchen guy, Bob, with whom we’d already been through a kitchen renovation, asked did we want one seat, two, or no seats? I initially wondered aloud what someone would do with a seat in the shower, then realized that it might be good for shaving legs (putting foot on seat) and just keeping crap on in general, so okay, “One seat, Bob!” Then he asked if we were sure just one seat, offering that he and his wife had two.

I was really sick with a cold and we were on year two of house expansion and also getting married a couple of months later and…I don’t know, but I started laughing and couldn’t stop. Like, tears were streaming, my nose was running, I had no voice, and I COULD NOT pull it together. I just kept picturing Bob and his faceless wife sitting across the shower stall from one another. WHAT were they doing with those two seats? Which I asked at the time, in my totally sick, hoarse, crying/laughing croak, and which brought dirty thoughts that just made me double over all the more.

I’m laughing again thinking about it!

I confess that it’s probably not that easy to be married to me.

I guess I should confess at this point that I have sat down in the shower on numerous occasions after long, cold, difficult days when I was freezing, tired, and just didn’t want to stand any more.

It’s kinda nice.

Flame free: I sit down some times. Especially when I have to wake up at 3am. Might have fallen asleep once or twice too!

I confess that because I found out in the Marines that I fucking hate waking up early, and have spent the last several years working night shift and more recently evening (230pm-11pm), that most of me does not actually want the day shift plant supervisor position (currently night supervisor) because the hours are 6am-230pm, and I really don’t want to be waking up at 4 am (can’t imagine 3am days every day). For most people that sounds like heaven, and it’s not bad, but I’m a night owl and I can stay up til after midnight and wake up at 8 with the kids, go to the gym, go to the park, run a couple errands, and then make it to work early. I’m the top person in consideration for it, though, because I aggressively pursued it after the previous one was fired, since it’s a bit more money. I never used to be this way, but I’m happy to say that my ambition trumps my desire to stay in my comfort zone these days. It’s taken me clawing for every promotion and raise I’ve gotten, but as of 2 months ago I doubled my yearly salary that I started with when I moved to VA 4 years ago, and I’m not done yet.

I too like to sit in the shower, for me it’s super relaxing.

I really liked the mid shift on 4 10’s. I’d get off work at 1:30 Friday morning and it was like having half the week off before going back on Monday at 3:00 pm.

Why didn’t William of Ockham ever go to the barber?

He had his own razor

I hate that as well. I did the 6am-2am last month and I hated it. I still have 2 days per week with that schedule and I hate them. It feels that even if I have the same hours of sleep, I’m way more tired waking up at 5 vs 8 (maybe a cortisol thing?)

I wish I had a shower recess or bath big enough for me to be able to sit in

When I was in uni, we had “en suites” in our rooms that was a wet room of a sink, toilet and shower in one. It was very easy to spin the shower head slightly to aim it at the toilet and multi task When I fell asleep drunk in there plenty of times.

Good news here at least.

That’s how my grandparent’s bathroom is set up. I’ve wasted at least 5 rolls of toilet paper by aiming the shower head wrong

I greatly appreciate how the punchline is also the simplest explanation.

I set a challenge not to eat after 8pm. I’ve failed every day on the basis that I have “extra food” to spare.
