Well, everybody knows that nurses are promiscuous. They appreciate the body and are comfortable with it.
Just saying.

I heard a comedian say the reason nurses get so big is because , like a goldfish growing to the size of its bowl, nurses just keep growing into bigger and bigger scrubs.
I was at a water park this weekend with the wife and kids, some really jacked dude shows up and gets into the pool right next to where im at with my kids. This dudes back is fucking enormous, and I was half considering throwing him a “sup, bro” nod, when he turns around and right above his TMNT-level distended six pack is a pair of gigantic tits. They started as pecs, but drooped so low and the nipples were so gigantic and pointy that I genuinely felt offended that he wasn’t wearing a bikini top. My wife, completely unprompted, nudges my shoulder and goes “damn, I need to step my boob game up.”
Same with cops but it’s not an excuse. The job of a first responder or ER personnel is stressful. Adrenaline dumps are common and the body goes into fight or flight mode.
Cortisol is released to mobilize energy for the fight or run. Unfortunately, the energy isn’t needed most of the time. It’s reabsorbed but the body doesn’t seem to care. Cortisol levels stay elevated and you get hungry because your body thinks you need to refuel so you’ll be ready for the next event.
People eat simple carbs when they don’t need them and have chronically elevated cortisol levels.
These jobs actually justify a need to be fit nd active.
My favorite is the morbidly obese cardiologist who smokes. The dude literally sees the horrible effects of those choices on a daily basis but continues to just say “F*ck it.”
confession: every couple of weeks i’ll cook up a bunch of eggs for the “gains.” i get halfway through and chuck the rest in the bin because i hate eggs!!! I know i hate eggs, yet i try eat them

Wow. You really must hate eggs.
Indeed. I don’t mind bacon and egg toasties/Sandwich/on toast though.
Scrambled eggs and melted cheese wrapped in a tortilla. Meat and veggies are great additions too.
I suppose it would be an excuse if physical fitness was needed to be a competent nurse. So far, in fifteen years of working in healthcare, I’ve noticed it isn’t.
I suppose it would be an excuse if deep down someone wanted to exercise for my the right reasons, had the time to, but didn’t, because of lack of motivation or just plain physical laziness.
Much of my family never went to a gym. My mom can’t stand gyms and never worked out much. All she ever does and did is take daily brisk walks for 30 min to an hour, not over eat, and only occasionally dine out.
I don’t think intense, regimented exercise fits into everyone’s lives.
Yes, law enforcement justifies physical fitness.
I never said this was a requirement.
Your mom nailed it. Low intensity exercise like walking has been shown to decrease circulating cortisol levels. Combine that with sensible eating and you will be practicing what you preach.
I think we’re all aware that training has little to do with weight management (and I think we’re relating that to fitness for medical professionals in this discussion).
I think “fit” can be achieved by doing the opposite of sedentary people. Walk, so yard work, take kids to the park, etc. Staying active and eating right is really all it takes. It’s too bad that most people associate being fit with doing hours of rigorous exercise.
I don’t hate eggs but for some reason I get nauseous when I eat more than 4 at a time.
Well, teachers used to be the authorities in classrooms, which they should be, as opposed to today in which usually kids and parents run the show, from what I’ve heard and read.
I noticed the start of the decline when I went to high school in the mid 90’s.
The fitness community tends to be extremely ignorant and has a ‘holier than thou’ mindset when it comes to the expectation that their hobby should be imposed on others and if it isn’t, it’s an excuse for them to feel superior. Which is funny considering the vast spectrum of what is considered to be fitness.
People will constantly change the narrative to fit their narrow argument view too. Let’s take the nurse thing, working on your feet for 8-10 hours a day in constant motion with intense mental pressures and stimulus requires a baseline of fitness to accomplish it daily. Yet the guy who sits behind a computer for work for the same time, but lifts weights for 45 min 4x a week wants to stand on his pedestal and preach superiority. No different than sports when comparing specific fitness to general or baseline fitness.
Also, to judge someone on their own life choices because they differ from yours with the caveat of it not harming others, well that’s just being an asshole. There is a tie in to your view on Gurus and their sheep herd of followers here.

Some nurses are asked to work some 12 to 16 hour days because of the insane turnover!
A previous job of mine at a skilled nursing/long term care facility had over 100 turnovers per year, mostly in the nursing department. Some would quit the job in less than a week.
