The End of Women’s Powerlifting?

Only historically it isn’t. I suspect there is something else behind it. Perhaps a taller man reminds the woman of her father when she was a child.

Mike Tyson in a dress, not as some joke but because he prefers to dress that way, would not be the Tyson we know.

@cyclonengineer

I agree with all of that. I know legit trans people who’ve felt this way since they were around four. But there are also a lot of people who’ve gotten swept up in a social contagion that’s essentially become a for-profit industry at this point. So much money to be made from this, which is the problem.

You don’t believe physical size is an advantage in a close-quarters combat?

And if Mike Tyson decided he loved dresses as a young adult and still had Cus, his natural speed/power and fighting ability would remain. So he’d still be Mike Tyson.

Is this supposed to be an insult?

I’d hardly say that being very proud of a son who is at the top of the class, exec in a large, industry facing org, working a part time job related to major and lined up for a high paying job out of uni as a third year is a “low bar”

Oh, and before you say that my parents have low standards, my parents were/still somewhat tiger parents. They would be ecstatic if my brother was as accomplished as @tlgains

Wow…
This thread went sideways quite a bit and in a hurry.
Seems the Slur Nazi played a significant role. Once again called someone “dude.” That slur offends me.

Thank you anna, you are so kind.

Huh?

Yeah, what if? Most people don’t live by what if’s and the feelings we get from others are innate. When a woman see a tall, handsome man, she cannot predict that perhaps this man might give her handicapped children. A man can’t predict that when he sees a beautiful woman either. And one has no idea if a man in a dress will be inclined to have his back.

This is why what one can control
about appearance isn’t some giant joke.

The ancient Romans defeated the Gauls and Germans in spite of their average smaller size. Alexander the Great was short. Tyson was a short HW. Marciano was a short HW. Ali was smaller than Foreman. Dempsey was smaller than Willard.

The fact you read that word and think insult says more about you and your feelings on the matter.

I don’t care about your parents and maybe you should think that there are two sides to an issue before taking one. Ok smarty pants?

What does cause autism?

@zecarlo Be the grown up here and drop it.

@anna_5588 @tlgains IMO you guys are both doing fantastic and getting ahead in life, but don’t confuse that with tangible achievement in the adult world. Come back when you’re out here raising children and/or bringing better outcomes into the world through your labors.

Now, let us all return to the subject at hand: Some men who think they are women are successfully using the court system to force women to play sports against them.

Strongest indicator seems to be genetics. Scientists aren’t totally sure.

My wife (almost has her JD) always says “it’s a justice system, not a reality or logic system”.

Sexual revolutionaries have been using the courts and the political system to suit their wishes, including with sports, for over 60 years. For the umpteenth time I’m recommending this book for anyone who actually wants to know who they’re dealing with. And “conservatives” haven’t accomplished anything consequential about it.

Whatever it is, it wasn’t affecting many children born within few years of when I was born.
I cannot recall a single kid disrupting class (that wasn’t immediately rectified) when I was in school. Born in 1948. Started school in (fall) 1953 and graduated high school in 1966.

No one seemed “hyper.” No one had a “melt down.” If a problem didn’t immediately improve back to normal, the kid was sent to the principal’s office. BTW, I never recall a girl causing any classroom disruptions.

Whatever the cause of autism, I saw no evidence of autism’s existence through 1966.

My best guess is that something changed in the environment, medical treatment, or lifestyle.

That’s why we have women’s sports in the first place. Title IX had just as much to do with justice as logic, especially in how it was interpreted. It became less about equality than it does about equity. And reality and equity tend to not mix.

This doesn’t discount its existence.
Judging by the behaviors recorded some of histories prominent names were definitely ASD

  1. Einstein
  2. Orville Wright (known to be the eccentric counterpart to the more social Wilbur, and likely their sister judging by McColoughs biography)
  3. Isaac Newton

Found a list after those first couple:

It’s always been around, science just hadn’t classified it yet. And if your classroom teachers were anything like mine growing up, there wasn’t much discipline, only the installation of fear of punishment.

Wouldn’t they be in foster care because their mothers wouldn’t stop doing drugs after they were born? Even if drugs caused autism, the mother has to abandon them after they’re born right?
