The Dark Knight Rises

The Venom story arc is a pretty fun read too, if anyone is wondering.

Rule of 3, all 3’s suck, Spiderman 3, X-Men 3, Batman Forever(begining of the end) this movie is going to suck
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly; Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade; Return of the King(your argument about the books is retarded as it pertains to all 3 movies); Back to the Future 3; Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome; Army of Darkness; MI:3; Goldfinger; Prisoner of Azkaban; Rocky III; Toy Story 3…

I’m not saying there aren’t trilogies that shouldn’t make it to the 3rd movie(or the 2nd…) but to assert that they all suck is dumb. TDK:Rises will be the shit.

Look once again I’m going on record and if I am wrong I will retracty but from my experience the third comic movie always sucks.

This probably won’t happen and is definitely a long shot; however, I will reserve my suspicions that Nolan may just bring the joker back after all (even though not as the main villain). It has been announced that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been added to the cast. Throw some joker make up on this guy and tell me he won’t look pretty much exactly the same. It would certainly catch everyone by surprise as Nolan has been throwing very few bones out to the press.
I def wont complain if your right…just so long as the new guy gets the tongue flicker right.
Even if just for a few scenes to emphasize that the Joker still has power from within a padded cell. The character Nolan created is too good to be put in the background and to be explained away with a few lines of dialogue explaining where he is.

Hes already stated the Joker will not be appearing in this film. Out of taste more than anything I would’ve thought

Don’t know if we’ll see the Joker, but we’ll definitely at the very least hear of his exploits. The Joker is Batman’s arch nemesis and the 2nd most important character to the overall story, so he’s not just gonna disappear. Nolan has also been pretty keen on throwing the press off his trail, so there’s no telling what we’ll see in this flick. All I know is that he made two movies that not only completely revolutionized the way comic book movies are made, they also happened to be 2 of the best movies of the last decade and in TDK’s case one of the best films ever made. Anyone who thinks this movie’s gonna suck needs to have their head examined.

I wouldn’t rule out the return of the Joker or Scarecrow - neither character’s story arcs have been resolved (Nolan must have had a direction in mind for Joker before including him, and Scarecrow is still at large).

As Whiteflash said, Chris Nolan has thrown out red herrings in the past ( before BB was released, he did the old switcharoo with a casting release, announcing Ken Watanabe as Ducard and Liam Neeson as Ra’s).

The key point here is that this will be Nolan’s last Batman movie and he has said that it will be a self-contained trilogy. Bringing the story to a close would suggest that aspects of the previous movies would be revisited in one form or another.

While I’m on the subject of tieing up loose ends, here is the link to the enlarged version of the first Bane pic, which led me to believe that the mask is actually an inhaler:

Clearly the mouthpiece has a functional purpose. We don’t need a schematic to see that it isn’t just decorative (also the cat’s eye is clearly visible on the left). In spite of what some say, I’m not just pulling this out of thin air. Nolan didn’t dwell on the design of the Scarecrow mask, either. No wonder - it was a plot device. If he got so caught up with tactics and hopelessly pedantic talk of gas delivery rates, flammability and such, he’d have re-tooled the batsuit to have the mask totally cover Bruce Wayne’s face (the exposed mouth area is just as much a tactical liabilty as a mask like Bane’s, if not more).

Criminal 1: Shit! It’s Batman! Dramatically spreading his cape to make us share in his childhood trauma. What do we do?!

Criminal 2: Shoot him in the mouth.

If Nolan thought this way, the audience would be collectively bored shitless. Nobody cares about this stuff because it’s not entertainment. You know, dramatic license, suspension of disbelief and all that.

OK. Now I’m done. Have at it.

Another great post Roy! I fully accept Scarecrow to show up and potentially fall victim to Bane. If Crane continues his drug dealing, and is responsible for Bane’s acquisition of Venom, I could see Bane trying it for the first time and murdering Crane (and his thugs) in a rampage. There’s one loose end tied up.

As for The Joker, I would hope out of respect to Heath that no flash backs are shown. But I do hope for some reference to the character as he is simply to important to just sweep under the rug.

I’d just like to point out to all the haters out there saying this is going to suck, look at Nolan’s filmography, he has not made a DUD film yet, He is a master at his craft or at least getting there.

So he’s due. AS far as being a master Sam Rami is as well and look at Spider-man 3 the midget in the gimp mask is no Bane.

OK. What else do you think a pool-shaped green screen in a pit could be for?

I probably know the back story better than you chum. Nolan would never ever do the Lazarus pit. There’s a reason there will be no venom, no mr freeze, no poison ivy etc… He’s focused on bringing a realistic story to the screen.

His role has been confirmed already. My guess is he’ll play some supercop that’s hunting Batman.

He was caught in the second scene of the dark knight.

This is why I think Cotillard will be Talia al Guhl.

Maybe it was always a batman story from the beginning leading up to a fully established batman.

Good God you’re a hater. The guy is already one of the best filmmakers of all time. You CANNOT compare Sam Raimi to Nolan. Outside of the Evil Dead what has he done that was any good? Thinking about it, that’s only good for camp value.

I’ve liked every Batman movie made - so I have no fears for this one.

I know. He’s been cast as the “Holiday Killer;” however, it wouldn’t be out of character for Nolan to just be throwing us off his trail.

So did Nolan say this would be the last Batman movie he does?

Did some digging on the Holiday Killer and it was actually 3 different people, 2 of which are Alberto Falcone and…

Two Face…

There are ways to do the Lazarus Pit and Venom in a realistic manner just as there was a way to present Ra’s immortality in a realisitic manner, so citing Nolan’s move towards realism proves nothing. Having said that, your predictions for Thor were spot-on, so I’ll defer to your obviously superior knowledge of all things Batman.

If I’m so far off, give myself and everybody else on this thread the benefit of your expertise : What do you think Nolan will do in the next movie? What is your explanation for the green screen in a pit? How does this explanation fit in with Nolan’s universe?
