Well, Blade is still considered successful…but the reality is, Marvel didn’t even put their logo on the first movie at all because they expected it to fail. Blade gained more success as a cult following after the first movie was in theaters. That is why Blade is the ONLY Marvel movie made without the “flipping comic book and logo” intro of every other Marvel hero movie.
IMO, Blade is the best comic movie made to date. I’m not sure what it is about it, but I don’t get the “itch” to watch other comic book movies over and over like I have with that one. 2 and 3 I can take or leave, but the original is just bad ass.

Agreed…but the point is, they were taking a risk making a movie about a black super hero and were very prepared to hide their hands if it failed. There hasn’t been any other Marvel movie made without the logo or the intro. In fact, I doubt most people who saw the movie even know he is a Marvel character.
But yeah, I liked the first and the second one. The third one fucked up everything by making Blade a secondary character in his own fucking movie.
And Snipes just fell off the face of the earth. I know he has had some bit roles in a few movies and has done the really bad B movies. Very sad cause I always enjoyed his acting.
He’s in jail serving three years for tax evasion. I thought they’d worked that out but he’s been fighting his sentence ever since it first hit the news.
How and the fuck does something like this happen? How does somebody with millions not have an accountant that manage there money? If the accountant fucks up then shouldnt he go to jail?
They are in jail: one serving ten years; the other four, since 2008. IMO, this sort of thing can happen very easily if you earn millions per movie, and become too reliant on other people kissing your ass instead of covering it. You simply lose track of the value of money if you give somebody else that responsibility. I don’t know how WS ended up where he is, but in all honesty, he of all people shouldn’t have to serve a jail term for tax evasion.
His earning power at least should give him a bargaining chip to pay off his debts with interest (earnings from one movie a year should do it), and avoid a jail term, but no, they have to lock him away as “an example”.
Probably because he is black. Not to throw the race card but…
