The Dark Knight: Official Review Thread

“Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another… if I’m going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!”

A little disappointing.

No Joker back story at all? Odd.

Joker changed his own back story every time he explained it in the movie. It means what really happened is up in the air…because he’s insane.
That’s in the comics too. Even in the Killing Joke he makes a comment about preferring a multiple choice past, leaving some doubt as to whether or not it happened.

A buddy of mine is reading my Killing Joke right now after watching the movie and wanting more.

The movie was amazing from beginning to end I thought, kept you on the edge of your seat for the whole 2.5 hour ride. Joker was ridiculous and nuts…just the way he should be(although he thought he didnt wear make up), Dent was played to a tee, Gordon is spot on… All in all a great film.

Ending was fantastic…

I cant imagine that they wont, but does anyone know if a part 3 is in the works?

One word: Strong.

That might be the most redundant question ever.

Is the Sky blue?

Is water wet?

If you prick me do I not bleed?

Had they not made previous Batman movies with butt-cheeks and nippels?

Then yes my firend. There will me more

No doubt, “Chris Objections-for-scenes-clearly-explained-in-the-movie”

Damn, now that’s a long last name.

Anybody know the over/under for the weekend’s gross on this thing? I’m guessing $120 million. Every IMax show at my local theater is sold out…all weekend.
I don’t think it possibly can, just because of the length. THey are going to lose a showing every day on everything theatre because of that extra half hour.

It really says something about the studio’s faith in Nolan to let him make it so long.

Oh, and this might have been the best movie I’ve ever seen. Ever.

Wow, what a truly great movie. I was too damn tired last night to express my thoughts. I thought Heath Ledger was a really good actor, and this will solidify a legacy for him for a very, very long time.

 • Somewhat Spoilers -

Back to Ledger, I thought he did a great job of playing the Joker. Jack Nicholson had a classic role, but it was nowhere near as disturbing and “I’m doing this shit for the fun of it” as Ledger’s performance. One thing I really enjoyed about the movie was the music. To people who haven’t seen it, really pay attention to it and think about how it flows through each scene. Awesome.

 • Big Spoilers -

I think Aaron Eckhart did a great job as Dent, but come on, did he really need to look like a shitty rendition of the terminator? I was hoping for a Two-Face that was completely original and… grisly. Also, I wonder how they’re going to con Joker off in the next movies with the obvious absence of Ledger…

I doubt anyone could truly outdo Ledger. He had that whole “Natural Born Killers” vibe to him. I wish they had been more graphic so that would be more evident. That hospital scene was hilarious.

Heath’s joker actually made me laugh. He menacing, scary, and funny. I’d be scared as hell if Joker walked into the room.

Here’s the real question: Considering the length of the movie, would you guys watch it again? Perfect movie, but don’t make plans afterwards.

I will, I just got home from it and the only question I have is who can they get now? Ill leave it at that.

Yeah, that’s very true. I really hope he gets some sort of Academy nod because his performance was fucking brilliant.

I would watch the movie again, but not in the theatres. I was sweating my balls off last night and would preffer to watch on my 52" here at home instead…

you go at 11am on a week day and you dont have to worry about it being packed =)

on a side note, when he was comming out of the Hospital was anyone else reminded of Joe Cocker?

it was the hands that cought my eye

Saw it last night at 12. It was freaking amazing.

Heath Ledger was impeccable. I was thoroughly creeped out by him. I want to go see it again.

So… next movie, what villain do you guys want to see?

The Riddler done in Saw-style could be awesome. Mad Hatter is a bit too cartoonish and joker-like I think. Freeze is a good bet, if they can salvage the way Arnold raped his character and make him the conflicted, wife-loving person he was in the animated series.

Clay-face and killer-croc are doubtful. I don’t see any heavy-CGI villains being a good fit for the Nolan-batverse.

The Penguin… is just too silly.

Catwoman is out. Selena Kyle is only interesting because of her and Bruce Wayne’s dynamic, which I don’t see happening in the nolan-batverse.

I’d love to see the Royal Flush Gang. But that has more to do with me hyper-craving a live-action Batman Beyond movie…

Killer Croc is perfect. Epidermalytic Hyperkeratosis is a real disease causing scaling of the skin. That is what Croc has (at least according to the animated Gotham Knight). If they plant it in reality, it would go over perfectly.

I also agree about the Riddler…even though Saw has been done. Obviously his angle would have to be something a little different than simply making someone physically suffer for “wrong doings”.

I just got back from seeing it and I’ll be going to see it on IMAX tomorrow. When it hits the two dollar theater near me, there is a possibility I will see it there as well in a couple of months.
