The Daily Routine of An Unemployed Person
LoRez wrote:
Oh, and also try and enjoy the time you have, and enjoy hobbies and things you wanted to do but never did.

If you enjoy reading, you now have some time to enjoy your books. If you play an instrument, you have more time to play that. If you enjoy cooking, you can spend a little extra time to try new things, etc.

One of the better reasons for having nice things (and actually paying cash for them), is that when you’re without a job, you still have those things. When I was unemployed, I was still able to sleep in a nice bed, make good freshly ground coffee every morning, and play my piano and guitar. I explored a few genres of movies I hadn’t taken the chance to, and found ways to enjoy myself without spending any additional money.

In some ways, my quality of life actually improved for awhile.
Well I’m starting my 2nd cycle so Im pretty fucking excited haha :stuck_out_tongue:

LoRez, great posts, dude.

If you can’t find something productive to do for 8 hours then I don’t believe you’re actually looking for a job. You could also blame the economy, that seems to be a favorite of unemployed people.
This is actually a really good idea.

Blaming the economy for being unemployed is like blaming the nuclear bomb for killing a bunch of Japanese. Which is to say it makes sense.
This question is predicated on the assumption that you have a right to eat OR sleep under a roof.

All else after that becomes bullshit.
I honestly do not know what you mean. Are you saying we should not have the right to eat or sleep under a roof?
Yes. We do not have that right. People who do get these things without working for them are usurping other peoples money and resources.
I love this stuff. Who decided we do not have that right? Ayn Rand?

I am going off memory here but don’t you have an Engineering degree? If you are a freshly degreed engineer look for positions and opportunities that can give you marketable skills aside from what every other fresh graduate has. Machining and PLC programming are two that come to mind right away.

What type of position are you looking for? You would be surprised how many engineers go into it to make cool stuff and they end up being project managers and hating it.
I am a Accounting/Information System. I’m trying to get into SQL Developer role/Business Analyst(most entail SQL reporting), Data Analyst type stuff as well.

I have also been applying to Financial Analysts role as well.
Man they are hiring BA’s by the truckload right now. They won’t let you go directly into SQL development, but you can get hired as a BA and jump in on more technical projects immediately, which would obviously lead to a promotion in 1-2 years. That’s what I’m doing and others around me have done successfully. If PMs were enabled I could refer you lol

The corporations being all corporationy decided we need to work for the things we have. I’m writing about it in my anthropology book. At the dawn of man was borne the overly rich super elite overlords who forced everyone to work. These people convinced the animals to stop walking into fires and flinging themselves into peoples mouths. The forests, which before were frequented by large mansions, were now full of raw trees! But one man broke their spell. He wears the wolf sigil and spreads his propaganda by telling sob stories of people who have earned what they have. He is the hero we all need.

The very act of being born.

Rights aren’t things. They aren’t tangible property. Rights inalienable and inherent with existence.

You cannot, in any way that is possible, be provided food or shelter without forcing someone else to do it for you if you won’t do it for yourself (ie: violating their right to freedom). If you don’t build the house yourself, or grow the food yourself (earning it BTW), you must obtain those things from someone who does through voluntary exchange. You must have something of value to give to them in exchange. Where that value be a product or service you are still earning your food or shelter.

This is really elementary stuff.

I don’t know of any animals that do/did this though I could be convinced that deer would.

One hour of Minecraft and he would know food does not grow on trees.

A lot of food grows on trees as well as inside. The trees themselves have consumable parts (discarding fruit, nuts, etc. which are technically parts).

Most people consume a few spiders this way a year in their sleep. The spider sees a dark warm place and think it’s a good idea to make a home out of it until they become an accidental midnight snack. YUMMM

You think my Blaze farm just jumped into existence punk!?!

Do you?

I laid ambushes to get at their rods, I stalked slimes at full moon just to get to make sticky pistons, I built a pressure plate trap from the ground up, constantly under fire and now he wants my echanted diamond boots?

Fuck no!

I wonder how true this actually is. Even in developing regions.

Brazilian Wandering Spiders hide themselves in bunches of bananas and have been reportedly shipped to supermarkets without the packaging employees realising they were in there, that scares me. Would probably scare me a little less if it was a harmless spider, but that thing will do some heinous shit to the human body.

People really believe that spiders are stupid enough to routinely wander directly into a wet, loud and drafty caverns (they missed the evolutionary memo that those places usually aren’t fun)? That they can do this without tickling the face, lips or tongue to wake the individual up and proceed far enough back into the throat to induce a reflexive swallow without causing a coughing or choking spasm?

Well, it’s on the internet, so it must be true.

I love you, like for real.

I was about to drive home from work and swallow a blow torch… Now I can refrain and just eat some jalapenos instead.
