I started with a coach but it’s not been too consistent. He owns a gym and two fitness boot camps. He just finished the long process to franchise and is selling them now and super busy. He originally put my nutrition together, but I’ve since changed it up according to what I feel is working. I only get to check in with him every other week at best, and get the feeling that it’s not much of a priority to him, so I’m taking control and managing it on my own from here on out. There’s so much free info out there if your willing to sort through the muck and be diligent.
That’s too bad. If you need some help from people who have lived it then I’m sure they’d be happy to offer advice/critiques on your plan. I won’t tag them officially but robstein and TheMightyStu have done this a time or two.
I’m not implying that your plan is bad or wrong; you’d just be one of the very few people who prep successfully on their own for their first show. There are so many crazy variables.
They’ve been tagged in a few earlier posts. Being in a service industry I constantly get hit up for favors/free stuff. This makes me never want to be that guy asking ![]()

. Thanks though man! I’ll take all feedback though and munch on it.
I have a few friends who have competed in the past to bounce ideas off of and get tips from as well. Some competed at an amateur lever, but 2 are IFBB pros and one in particular has even done very well at the Olympia in years past. Granted he did super heavyweight bodybuilding and I can’t even begin to think how much juice has run through that body… regardless he has a lot of knowledge. I’m meeting up with him on Tuesday to chat for a bit.
that is an amazing breakdown of the week you have, and solid DL session you did and I think you are going to kill the show!!!
Thanks buddy. I’ve always wanted to try to compete and am finally gonna do it at the ripe old age of 39!
LOL!

Pushups from knees to failure 15 really ugly on the last five but hey.
Never combined chest and shoulders before and gotta day I loved the pump. Holy moly! Overall an awesome session. Haven’t missed a thing with nutrition or water and got my cardio in this morning.
3.5 weeks out photo update. Going to put a few up each week to visually track vascularity specifically in my core and chest. Hopefully I’ll have a few new roads added to the map in the next few weeks!
Sometimes I put the green beans in the other portion of the container to feel like I get something different
Looking absolutely shredded
Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, are we?
Looking fantastic mate
Seeing some vascularity popping through on the lower abs and pecs. The arms and shoulders go without saying. Looking good!

Outstanding brother. Just outstanding. I know what kind of dedication and willpower it takes to get where you are. Awesome job.
Physique, nutrition and workouts are all looking amazing! I’m looking forward to seeing the final package. Following your journey is inspiring.
Thanks everyone for the encouraging words! I needed that today. Hit a mental wall and was severely lacking in energy and motivation. Probably in part to long hours at work and another long week ahead of me.

Didn’t have a long window today and nothing to very proud of but I got it don’t none the less.
Determined to wake up tomorrow with a better mindset. The T nation meme on Instagram actually helped me focus today. It was…
Success in 9 words - Do all the crap you don’t feel like doing. For me today it was 6:00 am cardio and 9:15pm grocery store after work from 830am-8:30pm
Not long left till showtime. Is it this Saturday? You got everything covered by the looks of it. What’s the winners prize ? Over here the winner gets like a trophy and a tub of protein lol I always thought there should be cash payment like every other sports, even snooker they get paid a few 100k. Suppose there is always the chance to turn pro pickup a few sponsors etc … do some seminars. When Lee priest came to my gym it was £20 quid each. About 100 people attended. He also went round all the other top bodybuilding gyms while here, so he must have made a few coin with that trip to UK.
How long ago was that? Not sure anyone would pay a score to see him these days!!
It was actually a week after he won Mr universe lol
